I need to meet more people and do more stuff, because the banging your head against the brick wall method of trying to meet my future wife is not currently working out. But everything I like doing is not conducive to female attention in the least - well apart from cooking, but it's not like anyone is gonna appear in my kitchen.
So basically, I have interests but I don't go to any classes or go dancing or whatever, plus I'm quite shy sometimes.
What do you guys do in your free time?

Nah, not my activity partner, but it would be nice to have something in common. I've had interest, but no mutual attraction. I think part of the problem is certainly that I'm too picky (and possibly shallow) but I couldn't see someone I'm not phsically very attracted to.

Being picky is great. Do your best to be picky about the things that will lead to a lifelong marriage and be persistent!
Does meetup.com work in your neck of the woods? Both my wife and I have found groups and events through meetup. I joined a D&D gaming group that meets weekly (though I don't attend anymore) and a photography meetup group where people get together on location every once in awhile to shoot pictures and talk shop. It's not a dating service, but it's a good way to meet like-minded people in the area and get out of the house once in awhile. We're also part of a nature/hiking group, but haven't made it to any of the meetups for that one yet.

Pretty much, find another social hobby that you enjoy and gets you out of the house and you are likely to meet a kindred "soul" if you will.

Ultimate Frisbee and D&D sound like my cup of tea (though I can't imagine meeting too many girls doing D&D).
In fact I love frisbee, and try and play it as often as possible, but the weather has been terrible recently. Still got out for a few hours, and my throws are getting really good! curve shots particularly. Still can't hammer throw though.

I never have the problem of meeting girls as I've been married to my high school sweetheart going on 12 years this month. Let just say if I ever needed to, it's easy now for me then back in high school. Other interests are movies, karate, home improvement projects and I have three girls to deal with:)

In the springtime, I like to work on my cars a lot. I have a Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE that has been sitting for the better part of 2 years now, and I have it running pretty well and have been driving it daily for 3 or so weeks now without to much trouble. It's a work in progress though, still need to fix the AC and figure out why it doesn't idle when cold.

Playing music, live sound mixing, tai chi, sewing, baseball. I used to drink a lot to get over my inhibitions, but that didn't work out too well and I've been sober for seven years. I used to motorcycle, but I crashed it in the Ozarks last summer.

I've known a few guys over the years who've ditched their hobbies or shaved off massive parts of their personality in an effort to please wives/girlfriends. They're all divorced now.

I have three dogs, so those are like my 'children' so to speak. I like watching movies, going shopping (to the mall and thrift stores as well), discovering different types of restaurants (and no i'm not fat or obese lol)

Apart from playing games, I do research (PLT and AI mainly), run my corporation, study martial arts, work out, raise my kids, and fuck my wife. My wife would never come between me and my games, though she's been known to come because of them. :D Oh wait... TMI.
Love motorcycling. Which used to be great for getting chicks, but that was in my teens/early 20s. That doesn't apply anymore, but doesn't matter much anymore since I'm married and all now.
Love(d) to drink too, and... ...well, exact same story as above.
So in all, not much helpful advice from me, unless you're in your teens/early 20s - then learn to ride a motorbike! (Actually, motorcycling is great even without the girl factor. :D)

I am at the age where a woman is more interested in a guy that can provide, goes to work every day, and doesnt cheat. Hobbies are an extra touch when you get older, but polar opposites in hobbies can have a perfect relationship together with compromise.
