Title: What resealable bags for PCE CDs?
Post by: Lochlan on 03/10/2014, 03:15 AM
I bought some PCE games recently that came with resealable plastic bags, allowing the spine card to be displayed.  I like how the games look with the spine card visible.  To anybody here that does this: what bags do you recommend? (If you can provide a link that would be even better!)  Any particular brands to avoid?

Thanks!

Chinese stores use bags called "Seal King" from what I can remember for selling used CDs/DVDs, but I don't know where you can buy them. I'm sure there are brands of the same product as well.

I have some but the seam is on the side and doesn't look as good. Look for bags with the seam on the bottom and flap on the side. They will look a lot better with the spines

I get Japanese side resealable sleeves.

Good links!

I bought a 500 pack of single CD Japanese poly bags like above and I'm still working through them.  I doubt I will ever use them all but it's nice to have them.

For the double CD ones side loading is nice but I wasn't going to pay the premium.  The top loading ones I have and use are about $6 for 100: http://www.ebay.com/itm/130487318770 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/130487318770)

Just make sure no matter what you buy bags with the reseal strip on the BODY of the bag, NOT THE FLAP.  It is so frustrating to fight with a sticky bag flap because of the adhesive while trying to put the case in the bag.

As a side note, DVD sized ones are nice if you have any steelbook cases and want to prevent scratches on them.

Thanks for the recommendations!  I bought some last night, I will relay my thoughts about them when they arrive!

Its funny you guys bring this up.  I just got into resealable bags a few months ago. Alot of Japanese sellers I buy from send there games in the same kind of baggies. I buy mine from amazon. They also sell baggies for the 2 disc phatty cases like the ps1 RE2.

Good links. The double cd re-sealable bags I buy from amazon are not as clear and don't fit as snug. I think Ill purchase these instead. Thanks

You guys are making it difficult and cumbersome to get the damn game out when you want to play it.

Simpler solution: wrap a clear leaf bag (55 gallon) around each  bookshelf of games.

Plenty of room for double-jewel cases.

Also, I use a twistie-tie to seal the bag (no annoying adhesive to worry about).

Opening bags: not cumbersome ;)  I see where you're coming from with the sentiment, but I don't think resealable bags seriously inhibit your ability to access the game media.

Anyway, I bought some of the side-sealing bags for both single and double jewel cases.  (Many thanks to MotherGunner!) Only the doubles have arrived, and so far I'm liking them--but the corners make some very silly looking points on the ends of the jewel case.  @MotherGunner and anybody else who's gone down this road: do you guys what do you do about those?  I guess I can tape the non-flap end, is that the best option?

I fold the corners in.  You could do the same and add a small piece of double-sided tape in between.

Thanks for the reply!  How do you "fold the corners in," exactly?  Can you do this in a way that makes them lie flat?

Sorry, more like fold them down and stick double-side tape in between to keep them down.  Make sense?

I don't know about the folding since I am very particular with my pc engine stuff.  I prefer the regular baggie option/OPP Bag use in order to be able to display my games with their spines(all my games have spines). Also while they were initially stuck via some kind of glue, but I do not want them to either damage as well(even though some spines I own were damaged because of original owner). Then again people have different tastes to access their stuff =P

I believe he's talking about folding the excess plastic on the poly bad over so that it doesn't stick up like a parapet on top of the bagged game.  I do the same thing and just tape them over if they bother me.  I bought like a huge bundle pack of glossy tape from Costco and have yet to run out.

These (http://www.clearbags.com/6-1-8-x-5-1-8-cd-case-bag-protective-seal-156x130.html) are pretty good.  The website also sells other sizes, too.
