I've bought similar books for other things I'm interested in because reference books are cool. If the price is right I'd bite.

Hahaha!!!! Worst guy ever to have marketing/promoting your stuff...

Having vandalized his previous thread which provided information on what the actual product will be, now he makes a poll asking if we'll want to buy it with next-to-no info... WHAT sense does that make ?

Can't see anything other than "Print is forever. Est. 2001," he put the forum in maintenance mode.

But now I know why he keeps repeating "Print is forever," it's a chosen tagline apparently.

Only a madman such as Japjac can make sense of that and yeah, poor Richard Gibbs, he did get the worst person ever to interview him, it's quite clear that Japjac only cares about promoting himself, "Print is forever" is his very own "For the love of it".

Welcome gentlemen. Make your time.

Why do I always have to think of "All your base are belong to us" when reading such taglines?

I'm not a fan of people deleting old posts for essentially no reason.  But regardless, who is Richard Gibbs?  What's this book?  Is it a reprinting of something old, is it something new?

I'd click "Don't know" in the poll but it looks like I can't vote?  Whatevz.

You'd have an idea of who he is if JapanJac hadn't replaced his posts in the previous thread with spam messages, the same as he did with his Hall of Shame CPS Changer thread.

Exactamundo.

We know what guide books are, but who is Richard Gibbs ?? Should I have heard of him before ? I haven't, and if I have to leave your marketing thread to use Google, you're doing a piss poor job of it! When you're lazy at the basics or WEIRD, the reader isn't gonna have a lot of trust for the end result if you're involved somehow, so you're NOT helping...

You wanna gauge interest for a product, you make a presentation with photos/images/etc. but most of all, a persuasive, detailed pitch, instead of relying on name-dropping somebody the reader might not know...

He threw up this, but deleted it:

(?action=dlattach&topic=23008&attach=5859&image)

Then made this thread with less info other than PCE Guide Book and Richard Gibbs... WHY ?

He's hawking an updated book made from a 96 page fan magazine put out by Richard Gibbs in 1993.  It was filled with game reviews, tips and codes, and short blurbs on games, hardware, and accessories;'twas very much a fan production with hand lettering, fan art, and collage compositing (note the yellowed cellophane tape in the above scan) and printed via xerox copying.

Though quite rough around the edges, the original is pretty interesting (it's in the turbob archives).  Depending on price and quality of revisions, I'd be interested in buying an updated version, but only if Gibbs is involved and getting the lion's share of profits.

Yeah, the guy who did the original work definitely deserves to be paid for his trouble.  ...and likely deserves more than $1 per copy.

So japjac, is the original author involved?

I've been asked if I'd be willing to do the page layout for this project. Although I'm on board with the concept, I just don't think there is anywhere near the demand that would allow a professional print run in the quantities required at a fair cost. Although Gibbs' fanzine is well known in a small circle of UK people (not me, I never owned it), it's clear that the vast majority of PCE fans have little or no attachment to it, so an update wouldn't really have the resonance it needs.

It would have to be really in demand before I become part of it, especially when I have a billion other projects, including more of my own PCE books if I can ever get around to them.

So NecroPhile did part of your job for you, "JAPJAC", now you just need to put up some teaser layout/cover/guide sample images etc. like you almost did with your aborted thread to help the viewer visualize what you're going for. Duh.

Also, it might help to not burn bridges early with a forum if you're hoping to separate us from our monies by having your account operate as a robotic spamathon for wayback://japjac.proboards.com (https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://japjac.proboards.com/thread/*)...

Why doesn't Fapslack ever made a normal post? Why is everything so fancy and hyperbolic?

The first, the only, official, complete, etc etc. It was ridiculous when he was obsessed with the CP Changer but now he's hyping the idea of reprinting a commonly available one-man fanzine like it was a rocket to the fucking moon or something.

Also, massive massive post editing and covering his old posts like a total fool with zero faith in his own writing but not seeming to care one bit about what anyone else says (going so far as to be the only member of his own forum about himself).

On one hand, obviously, I'm disgusted, but I also sort of feel bad because one day we'll learn what his diagnosis is and then I'll probably regret everything I just wrote.

Yeah, that's the problem with calling somebody out on the internet.  If a guy's a bit weird he might actually have some real problems.  I did that to a fighting game guy in a facebook group and then felt like the biggest asshole after I actually met the guy.

Back a few years ago I used to converse with him through emails and on YouTube and he was always polite, and then something switches in his head and he turns nasty. Try Googling him, he has been banned from MANY forums for being rude. He was also banned from a Twitter for frequent bad behaviour., even goes as far as taking the piss out of someone's mother who died of cancer. Forget about him, he's an idiot with a huge superiority complex. He's very strange.

Glad you're back, we need more around here with your personality. It's conceivable you could've helped diffuse the situation we're in, but what's done is done.

I was lost more to Twitter to be honest last couple of years. I got bored with the format of Facebook and I dunno why but Twitter for some reason became more appealing. Partly because it's built so well around your phone, the Twitter app that is, and browsing is easier.

There's less sense of community though but it's a different experience, you can follow people you like, get a different sense of them where they can just be themselves and talk about whatever.

Yeah, that is something I agree with: each platform has certain "use cases" that it excels at and I can see how—for certain situations—one platform is easier/better/etc. than the others.

I still don't understand Twitter.... ha!
