Tonight, someone who had a cellphone camera shared pics with me of the 7-11 converted to a Kwik-E-Mart.
They told me it was in Bladensburg, MD. iI knew where that was, off Kenilworth Avenue! One of the first things I said after announcing I'm familiar with that location was, "Why there?" hahahaha.
As it was coming to me, someone pointed out a lot of traffic goes INTO and OUT of DC through that road.
It's interesting. I was already planning to visit the Arcade at the nearby mall (Beltway Plaza. Greenbelt,Maryland) in a week or so to defeat The Simpsons Arcade game. I defeated TMNT Arcade game in an arcade, however I have never defeated The Simpsons inside an arcade. I have not seen that arcade game in YEARS. It now all makes sense why that arcade brought back that cabinet (Other than Galaga and lethal Enforcers, it's probably the oldest game in the arcade).
So, now I have a day set aside, where I will probably get my fill of 2 Simpsons related thigng. Dump $20 into the token machine at Beltway Plaza, which should be more than enough to play through The Simpsons arcade game, then go on over and snap a few pics of the 7-11/Kwik-E-Mart in Bladensburg, since it is due to return back to a 7-11 at the end of July.
Wild stuff, considering the next closest "Kwik-E-Mart's" are in Orlando and New York city.
I have not watched the show in a year or so, decent show. However, the Arcade game is of more interest to me at the moment. The 7-11/Kwik-E-Mart is just the extra interesting site, 3-5 miles away! http://www.nbc4.com/news/13603133/detail.html
I figure, if there are only eleven 7-11's in the US (plus one in Canada) participating in the store makeover, I may have an easier time snapping pictures at 2:30 in the morning, July 4th, than attempting pictures of the place, uncrowded, during the day.
Yes, I made an early morning run to take pictures of one of the silliest marketing deployments I'd heard or seen.
It's not too much worth making a special trip for, as all the Krusty O's and such are sold in all the other 7-11's. Though, if you're not too far from one, it's worth a look, even if to only see the palce from afar, hahaha.
It's not repainted, the store has what looks like foam mats on the front of it, those are painted. After the promotion is over, all they have to do is remove the mats.
Here are some pictures.

NICE! :D I'd love to see that in person, looks really cool! :)
Awesome photos! I might go to the Kwik-E-Mart in NYC when I go to work on Thursday. Surprisingly, I am a sucker for this sort of marketing... why? I don't know, but I want to go...
Where in the world are the remaining eleven Kwik-e-marts?

That's an outstanding question.
People/the media seem very forthcoming with the fact that there are only 12 stores in the world that have been converted. What everybody seems to leave out is where they actually are.

List of marts:

Edit: they are all now listed on the page (the Canadian one wasn't a few days ago.)
There's one in SEATTLE!
Killer. I'm going there this weekend. :) :)
We get 3 here in Cali, ha ha (in a Nelson like fashion.)
This is the best marketing promo for a movie I've ever seen. That's just beyond awesome. The only thing that would make it complete are real life indian clerks who act just like Apu. :D
I hope the 7-11 in Steger has been converted, but I don't have any hope for that :( . Oh well, that 7-11 rules enough as it is anyways.
Man, I figured there would be one right near me, as Simi Valley(the next city over from me) has a 7/11 on every block! Am quite frankly, that's not much of an exaggeration, whenever I drive around there, I find a 7/11 about every 5 minutes or so, it's wierd. I have a friend in Burbank, I wonder if he's noticed it.
None near me. Damn. Uhwell, I guess I won't get to experience a Qwik-E-Mart. :?
And I used to live 2 miles away from that particular Burbank 7-11.
I went to my local 7-11 for a slurpee today and found that they too have converted. The only thing they didn't put up were the Kwik-E-Mart signpost over the old 7-11 signpost and the actual Kwik-E-Mart banner over the old 7-11 candy stripe banner. Inside, they had 2 pink frosted donuts for $1.49, Krusty O's, Butterfinger bars everywhere, and of course, Squishees.
I got my Slurpee Squishee, and asked the hot clerk lady if they will put up the rest of the changes later to make the Kwik-E-Mart conversion complete and she said that she didn't know.
Basically, it looks like all 7-11's around Canada and the U.S. will undergo the conversion. So keep your eyes peeled everyone.
