SMF version 1.1.1 is terribly out of date. You really need to update it to 1.1.4 as soon as possible. It's not hard and it only takes a few minutes.

1.1.4 will be obsolete once 1.1.5 comes out and rips it to shreds.  Wait for that one.  Better yet, maybe 1.1.6 is the way to go.  That one will be in 3D.

Nope, but it's rumored that 1.1.9 will be running from a room full of custom, 32x equipped TeraDrives.

1.1.8 will feature Mode 7.

Mode 7 will be obsolete once Mode 8 comes out and rips it to shreds.  Wait for that one.  Better yet, maybe Mode 9 is the way to go.  That one will be in 3D and come with special glasses.

No.  Mode 9 will come with them.  You'll have to pre-order Mode 9 direct from Nintendo.

You're all wrong! 1.2.0 is the one we need to use! It will only run on the Atari Jaguar, and we'll have to connect to it using the Jaguar Catbox and a copy of Battlesphere. It takes a while to load (http://youtube.com/watch?v=PGBT3-tqAVY), but that will eliminate the pointless religion threads and such.

Actually, in all seriousness, if you converted the forums to a Telnet BBS I would freak out with joy.

You don't, unless you're running your own forum somewhere else.  If you look down at the bottom of the page, you should already see "Powered by SMF 1.1.4" (on this forum anyway).
