The first one is Wind and Water : Puzzle Battles

and the second DUX a shooter

The Dreamcast will never die as long as it lives within our hearts...
However, by every "official" indication it very much seems to be dead. These are not official releases, they are home brew. They aren't pressed on GD-ROM format. Sega has nothing to do with them.
I'm seriously considering Wind and Water. It might be good. I have a feeling that Dux, despite the wonderful graphics, will be slow and boring just like like Last Hope was.
As much as I love my Dreamcast, I'm far more excited by the "homebrew" game that's coming out this Christmas for the Genesis: Pier Solar. (http://piersolar.com/)

Riddle me this Batman, if the Dreamcast is dead, how did I then boot it up and play Soul Caliber the other day?
Repeat after me kids: I (https://web.archive.org/web/20061016005519im_/http://smilies.vidahost.com/ups/layla_phoenix/heartpump.gif) homebrew. O:)

"the legend will never die"
Pier Solar looks amazing! I'm definitely getting that Lunar: Silver Star vibe from watching it.
I wonder if the Sega CD version will have full FMV and voice acting? :-k
The game is all on the Cart, the CD is optional and only for the enhanced music. (there is also cart music)

Because either that was a dream or you obviously have a Zombiecast.
Hi there,
I'm Yuan-Hao, one of the creators of Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles
Though the Dreamcast is "dead", you would be amazed about how things work in Japan, the last official GD-ROM title was Karous, released last year (yes, 2007) and actually it was one of the best selling games the week it was released in SEGA too!
Quote from: SignOfZeta on 10/18/2008, 11:31 AMI'm seriously considering Wind and Water. It might be good.
Thanks :D the game comes with a 40-page long manual and I'm a 100% sure that you won't beat the whole game in less than 30 hours. The story mode is quite long and will keep you entertained even if you're not too fond of puzzle games, but if you're into puzzle games I can safely say that you'll get lots of fun, here are the online stats of Shinra, a W&W player from the GP2X version who has played more than 100 hours: http://users.wind-water.net/stats.php?nick=Shinra
Here's a video too :) (https://youtu.be/QADgRU1NZIc) and lots of screenshots here (http://www.wind-water.net/screenshots).
Thanks! BTW I'm also quite excited about Pier Solar, the demo shows an extremely polished game and with the Mega-CD soundtrack... what else can you expect?
Awesome, I fucking love puzzle games. I'll definitely be picking up Wind and Water for my DC.

Wow, that game looks amazing (plus I LOVE the CD sound option). I just pre-ordered it...now time to get a new Genny+CD....
Looks like I'll have to pick up that $25 Dreamcast I've been contemplating. Pier solar and Puzzle Battles look unreal. Thanks for the info YuanHao!
I just got an email from the Pier Solar guys - looks like it will be delayed because one of the team members wouldn't give them permission to use his artwork for the game (he left for whatever reason) and now they are set back by year! :(

That wouldn't have happened if they had properly written contracts...

...or administered a severe beating. It's sad, but there's always
something delaying homebrew goodies. :(
Here is the email about it:
Dear Fans, Followers and Customers of Pier Solar,
You will have received this email after people registered to our newsletter,
this is because our preorders emails aren't stored in a mass mailing list
to ensure superior confidentiality and required a different sending method.
Thank you for your understanding.
As you may have heard in the last couple of months, we lost a member of our
graphics team and a year's worth of their work on Pier Solar; we tried our
best to resolve the issues with this team member but failed.
Since then we have been working around the clock to try and replace the
graphics including what this team member did for the project, our resources
have been stretched to their limit and sadly we have been unable to
complete the missing work within a suitable time frame.
This issue combined with the enhancements to bring the graphic quality to a
higher standard has caused the project deadline to slip considerably.
It gives us great regret to announce that we will not make our 24th of
December 2008 deadline and will be delaying the game's release until next
year.
If you have any questions or comments in response to this announcement then
please email enquiries@piersolar.com
Best Wishes,
The Water Melon Development Team

Or if the artist was in it for love of the console. I could see if they didn't want their work drastically altered, but this doesn't sound anything like that.

Well hopefully they can get the game out sometime in the near future. I'm guessing one of the designers was worried about his/her copyright or lack thereof.
