Good sir, you got any PC Engines left?
#2
I apologize for the delay.  I have good news: all actual letterforms and punctuation are complete.  The font designer is reluctantly finishing up some "unlockable" easter eggs (I figured a video game font wouldn't be complete without a cheatcode element). Although they are  no doubt a pain in his ass, I can assure you he will complete them within the coming months.

The usage will be, well, free for you guys of course. I will probably release it for free use, but I don't know much about font platforms and what cost may be involved with that.  I'll update you on that aspect of it in the coming release.  I have also discussed variants and spinoff fonts with the designer in the near future.  If any of you guys have input on that I would love to hear you weigh in.  Thanks for your patience!  This is happening!

For anyone who may be interested the font is basically done.  All the letters and normal punctuation are done and all that is left is the special characters.

I know this is way old.  I'm paying a very talented professional font designer (friend price) to resurrect this font.  I would like to re-ask anyone who had games, manuals, accessories etc. to please send me some hi res scans or links to any resource that would be useful in securing hi res font samples to bring this back with 100% accuracy.  It would be available within a couple months once all the resources are gathered.  Again, old turbochips -- anything.  Especially lowercase and punctuation. There will be some bonuses in special characters so if you have a suggestion for those let me know.  Thanks guys and gals.

I had the LAII boss music for a while and I would do splatterhouse music during the Halloween season.  I think I also had silent debuggers for a minute.
#6
Yes, I know.  Just a little humor there.  Glad to see you working on this awesome project.
#7
I haven't been on here for a long time, but when I saw this I was blown away.  To everyone involved in this, kick ass work.  I will be picking up a copy.  BTW are the levels set in stone?  Maybe you should do a Splatterhouse level...
#8
Ark, any idea when the next version of your card is gonna come out?  I meant to buy one of the protos, but as usual I procrastinated myself out of it.
#9
This is very very cool.  I hope this encourages some chip based home brew releases in the near future!

Hudson was offered an exclusive on Mortal Kombat, but they declined because "americans are tired of fighting games"... ](*,)

Does/will Squirrell have the ability to include your own sounds?  I think that would be very neat.

I don't really know what a fair price is since they are usually bundled together, but I would give up the cd unit, base carrying case and arcade card for $200.  Sorry I just saw this reply today.

Is this still for sale Ope?
#16
I have a base but I need to sell the cd unit with it.  CD unit works, I would include the carrying case and also have  an arcade card and region modded TG16 if you're interested.
#17
Interested in new turbopads, I sent an email, are they still available?
#18
I posted after having played it, rather than start a new thread about how much it sucked.
#19
This time, unfortunately, the substance splattering isn't blood.  Thanks for ruining another icon of my youth since hollywood apparently wasn't doing it fast enough.  Can we start a petition for Rockstar to redo the redo?
#20
did you print those off from somewhere or are those originals?
#21
You've probably already seen this, but they split it up into four videos.  Even after all this time, still getting no love from industry media.  But I thought the whole top 25 was pretty f'd up. ](*,)
#22
This isn't even debatable, since an apostrophe is clearly absent from all Ys logos (except apparently on the sega cartridge), and it is clearly pronounced by the narrator in the opening sequence of the game (Turbo Duo/CD Version).  So there's your proof if you run into a special kid who insists otherwise.
#23
would it be nitpicky to ask for an alphabitized list?
#24
I may be stating the obvious, but check that you didn't break the ground solder.  I did that when I took mine apart one too many times.
#25
I was thinking more along the lines of possibly converting the infrared pc engine controllers to RF.  Or straight up building an rf transmitter and receiver and hacking them into a turbo pad/turbo tap kind of thing.  Would this be possible, and if so how would I do it?  Here's the article that spawned this thread
#26
I have a set of the infrared pc engine controllers, which are ok, as long as you don't turn more than 5 degrees from the receiver, and someone started a petition to get some throwback company to make new wireless controllers (not showing signs of fruition), so I'm reading an article today about some dude who has hacked nes, snes and genesis controllers into wireless VC controllers for the Wii, and I'm thinking "how hard would it be to hack a turbopad into a wireless turbopad?"

Anyone with the skillz, please tell me, what would it basically take to do this?  Give me a basic idea of what materials would be needed and how it would work.
#27
Those look sweet!  Now if someone could make new HuCard/TurboChip sleeves
#28
Yes, that's why I tried to sell it on ebay in the first place (see my original post).  I didn't think anyone here would want to pay that much, but I figured I'd throw it out there.  As far as what it's worth, you have to get this stuff somewhere, and ebay is about your only option, and by average ebay prices, $350 for this would be a good deal.  A CD system in really good condition usually goes for more than $200, an Arcade card goes for at least $50, and $100 worth of professional modding.  That is to say nothing of the shipping I shelled out in the process.  Anyway, I'll just leave it at that and try relisting it on ebay without the region mod.
#29
I am currently asking $350.

I know that might seem high, but I've seen unmodified cd systems go for that much with just the system 2 card, Arcade cards are currently selling for $50-$70 by themselves.  Anyway I am just trying to recoup some of the money I put into it, which is significantly more than my asking price.  I won't feel offended if nobody wants to pay that much, but to sell it for less just wouldn't be worth it.

PM sent Turbofan.

Tron, it's still up for grabs unless Turbofan wants it.
#31
hoobs, check PM.

It's still up for grabs as of now.
#32
Paisa49, PM sent

Nectarsis, I will definately check back on your list!
#33
I don't really want to sell it, but I can't justify having two of these systems, considering the economic climate of late.  So I'm selling the cool one, which I had a region switch put in by OSG, as well as an orange LED light, which fluxuates with the video signal.  This will include the TG, CD unit, docking station, carrying case, adapter, av cables, and to sweeten the pie, an Arcade Card Pro, which means this system can play any game in the Turbo/PCE library.  Everything is in great shape, but I'll upload some pics so you can see for yourself.  I was going to sell this on ebay, but they canceled my listing because region switches are "an infringement of intellectual property rights."  So here it is, the TurboGrafx system that will whip the tits off of any japanese duo, HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!

Cereals that suck:

Honey smacks, corn pops, and ANY peanut butter flavored piece of SHIT: PB capn crunch, reese puffs, etc.

Pac-Man cereal was the highlight of my morning for a while.  Its funny I immediately thought of it just before viewing TRON's post.

I also enjoy Honey Bunches of Shut the Fuck Up

also, are frosted Cheerios safe?  they're about the only kind I can stand.
#35
no, I'm talking pc engine stuff.  Especially hardware. . .

The laser in the US model is a sony KSS-220a, not a 162.  I took apart a couple of these units.

Thanks for the ideas.  I am looking for a genuine NES, and there aren't any used game shops around here, so I am looking for an online source.  Of course ebay comes to mind, I thought maybe one of you might know an online store that would be better . . .?
#40
A heartwarming reminder that the turbo didn't lose because of inferior capabilities.
#41
I have wondered this also.  Nat is probably right, tho.  It would be so sweet if they did, it would open the door for a throwback system like atari did.  What would rule is if they made the chip and released a throwback system with cd drive, wireless controllers and, well it aint gonna happen but, maybe through clever use of allspark energy it could be possible.

Hi, my name is 2X4, and I don't own a Nintendo.

rest of forum:  Hi 2x4

I know I'm the only fool on this thread who doesn't own an orignal NES, but I want to change that.  I figured you guys could tell me the best place to get one, after getting your shots in.  Can ya help a brother out?

What the simplistic chip tunes did effectively was create contrast so that when you plunged into the dangers outside of town the mood intensified that much more.  They are perfect really for their respective parts of the story.

One game whose absence from mention here makes me weep inside, need i mention it . . .

Also, if you gonna talk about my mans an dem Herbie, you can't forget Ready Or Not!  It's like a thunderstorm of funk!

No harm in laughing either way, it's funny, and to deny that is just dishonest.  And, his Fonzy impression is dead on . . . DEAD ON.  Hey, did anybody consider that maybe he's just retarded drunk?

That was hilarious! "In space, no one can hear you scream . . . "  but apparently spaceships still make loud noises!  I actually kind of liked the last one though.

I have always thought that the genesis sound in general usually reminds me of a wet fart.  I don't think anyone can really tout sound as one of the genny's strong suits, in my opinion.

If you owned Splatterhouse back in the day, I don't see how you can not be obsessed with it.  It is such an awesome game, the atmosphere and music is perfect.  I remember genuinely being scared while playing that game.  Ninja Spirit is totally sweet for reasons already mentioned, and this is a tough choice, but Splatterhouse has just always been a big favorite of mine.  It was really a shame that the sequels were developed for the genesis and not super cd, but they weren't as good as the first anyway.  Go Splatterhouse!
