Turns me off from the idea of buying one of these.(Skip ahead to time 7.00 for audio issues)Yes. The audio during SD access sounds a loud buzz through the speakers, but you didn't seem too concerned with that. There is high-end clipping and distortion (also check out the MLiG video for examples). Additionally, there is a consistent level of hum that doesn't appear if you play the audio straight from the console's AV port. But you have to use the SSDS3 port if you want CD audio.
Quote from: guest on 08/29/2017, 01:52 PMI don't think that any Genesis-to-SMS ports were made in Japan.Well, games like Dragon Crystal (a semi-port from Genesis' Fatal Labyrinth), Shadow Dancer, and Moonwalker were done by JP teams.
Quote from: guest on 06/15/2016, 08:32 PMThere aren't any credits in the ridiculously long septi-lingual manual. Not to overly necro, but @CrackTiger: Omar Cornut reached out to Nishizawa, who has no idea who did the SMS version of Monster World III. Do you have any idea where you heard that the port was done by a Western dev?
Quote from: guest on 11/02/2016, 03:27 PMAnd it was re-released for PS1 and a sequel made for PS2.Oh right! How do they play?
Quote from: mtrienis on 09/22/2016, 03:48 PMNo worries, It takes more than dick waffles to ruffle my feathersDude, you should still engage in more activity here than BUY BUY BUY. That is 100% of your posts so far.
I understand the drill, I have a decent collection so far actually, funny enough Eastern Canada seems to have a decent amount of sellers, just looking for some key pieces. I'd like to get as much CIB stuff as possible, not box, just Jewel Case and Card. I'll settle for just cards on the stuff I don't have.
Speaking of which PM me how much you want for your Stabby Spatterhouse.
Quote from: mtrienis on 09/21/2016, 05:25 PMSo I need to attest to my undying love to the Turbo gods before I can be ushered into this elite circle?Welp...Too Bad?
I don't mind be razzed but out right making fun of someone because of lack of following some invisible guideline is silly and childish.
For the record I've been an avid collector since I was 14, had a substantial library until one day it magically disappeared from my parents place during a party. Anything else you'd like to know please feel free to make fun of me at your own expense.
Quote from: mtrienis on 09/21/2016, 03:58 PMSome amazingly mature and intelligent replies here.... Thank you all who contributed. Really some amazing stuff... really have a way of making a new guy feel welcome. Thanks for stopping by.The forum doesn't take kindly (in fact rather the opposite) to new folks showing up and immediately going into buy, buy, buy mode. They've been burned by a number of groups. Stick around and talk about what you like about these games and participate. Talk about Why Turbo's Better?
Quote from: esteban on 08/26/2016, 07:23 AMI am holding Fighting Street in my left hand as I type this with my right....but I thought I was holding your right hand, does that mean...????????
Quote from: Mathius on 08/29/2016, 06:30 PMOkay I need to correct my earlier statement...there are a few more pressed boots available through Bernie on the Turbo Xpress FB group. As for more in the future I'll post here if anything should arise.Hello I am dumb can you tell me the exact name of the FB group? I keep finding things about turbochargers, and I sold my SVO many years ago.
Quote from: esteban on 08/30/2016, 11:05 AMWith such a niche (in 2016) game, I was surprised that anybody was watching.I have a couple of thoughts on the matter:
At first I thought streaming games was silly, but now I see how "skyping" and live-streaming games can be a good thing, especially when our PCE kinky is so small.
Quote from: guest on 08/28/2016, 07:13 PMWell shit. I was thinking 7 PM for some reason. Ah well. Glad to hear it was a success!Hey, you were one of the move valuable characters in the party!
Quote from: SavagePencil on 08/27/2016, 12:05 PMThe arcade version (or at least the version included with Taito Legends 2 on Xbox) is 2 player alternating. I have a loose HuCard of it, lemme see if I can dig it out and see how that works.I can now confirm that the PC Engine version is:
Quote from: escarioth on 08/26/2016, 09:55 AMerf..i didnt play the game yet ...In an effort to preserve some other saves, I remembered that I had a Tennoke bank, but I found I didn't know WTF I was doing with it. It appears you have to hit select to confirm a transfer direction, but then it never let me actually move shit over? Are there instructions anywhere?
and ill have have erase the whole memory to play a single game
ill definetly will have to repair that tenoki bank someday..
Quote from: SignOfZeta on 08/25/2016, 03:24 PMAll CD systems can save and there are maybe more HuCARDs with the ability to save than you might think. Japanese releases have a logo for it, I don't know if US games do.Oh good distinction: all CD systems have built-in save memory, but not all consoles have it. I wasn't aware of how many Hueys had the capability built-in. I probably own several and didn't realize it!
Quote from: retrogamerzach on 08/25/2016, 12:59 PMGame: Doraemon - Nobita's Dorabian Night. Got pretty far in and than got curious about how saving would work ? haha probably lost all the saves oh well. perhaps it autosaved ?There's no internal diagnostic routine, although providing a full memory format (I think it holds a whopping 2k of RAM) might be a good idea.
Also what is the suspend function intended for ? while hold select than press run while in a game it will return to the start bios menu ?
Still very new to the pc engine duo-r it was bought on yahoo japan. So learning, Oh ok figured out that menu part now. seems like games have been auto-saving into there! how cool!
Is there a program we can run on it to test the integrity of all it's functions to confirm it doesn't have any faulty parts such as laser etc. we recently took some %99 alcohol to clean the lens and put white silicon grease on the cd rails and plastic gears. It seems to have a loose controller port. have to make sure the controller is plugged in really snug or it will easily glitch out on the controls at times not recognizing certain buttons when pressed .
Quote from: retrogamerzach on 08/25/2016, 12:33 AMsearching for a english translated version for the system operation manual / guide for the duo-r, we don't speak japanese and we are having a tough time understanding how to save a game while playing it, whether it is a cd or hucard. What are the problems you're encountering? Which games, specifically?
Quote from: SavagePencil on 08/24/2016, 07:48 PMThere's also an SFC sequel to Pocky & Rocky, but I've never played it. Any good?Pssst, did anyone try out the SNES sequel to P&R?
Quote from: A Black Falcon on 08/25/2016, 12:27 AMAs for Monkey King and Saint, while they are from Star Fish, the same studio as Heavenly Guardian (and also a few other remakes such as Devilish for the DS and also, I believe, Steel Empire for 3DS), yeah, those two games are pretty bad, unfortunately. Monkey King is terrible, incredibly easy, and very short. It's an awful game I would give a failing grade. As for Saint, it's definitely not good, but I do think it improves on Monkey King a bit, so I'd probably reverse those scores you gave them there. Why do you think Saint is the worse of the two? It's not quite as absurdly easy as Monkey King, and has more content and better gameplay too. That's not saying a lot here, but it's something. It's been a while since I played them both, but I seem to remember Saint somehow having even less sprite animation, and its attempt to do a Space Harrier-style behind-the-back-shooter experience was laughably bad.
Quote from: BigusSchmuck on 08/24/2016, 10:22 PMIts been a while since I last played it but here it goes:Thanks for the link! It confirmed for me that Create Food is also a cleric spell. How critical is Walk on Water? I seem to remember it was requisite at some point during the game, but can't remember if there were items that would do it for you.
1&2. Create food I guess. Walk on water and levitate are completely different. Levitate is like more for avoiding traps.
3. I wouldn't say give up the Paladin all together. Its nice to have a backup healer. I'm all about well rounded parties. I played enough of Might and Magic and Wizardry games to know a balanced party is the way to go.
This is a good guide if you need one:

Quote from: Gredler on 08/24/2016, 07:43 PMI have been on the fence about picking that up for years, is it any good? Better than that cloud master sequel I hope (the monkey king...)It's DEFINITELY better than the two Cloud Master spiritual successors (Monkey King: D+, Saint: F-). I found Heavenly Guardian very uneven in terms of difficulty. Either a switch flipped and I suddenly went from scrub to pro, or the RNG woke up and started giving me a fair game. The dual sticks on PS2 probably change the game, but I haven't played to verify.
I wonder if the ps2 version is better or worse than the wii.
