Quote from: bartre on 08/05/2017, 06:15 PMkitkit - was there a difference other than color for the SS stunner?
also, wasn't Area 51 markedly better on PSX over SS?
I seriously need the point blank games....
Quote from: seieienbu on 08/05/2017, 03:57 PMAll told, I think it's definitely one of the better franchises on the PC Engine. There isn't exactly a ton of action platformers on the system and playing Shockman co-op is a real treat. I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't played them yet.
Quote from: guest on 08/05/2017, 10:44 AMThis does not really sound like my kind of game. A dating sim RPG?
Quote from: Digi.k on 08/04/2017, 08:52 AMTokimeki Memorial - so much charm and nostalgia for old konami in here
Quote from: jperryss on 04/14/2009, 09:32 PMIf you played straight through the game (without finding any of the 'side' stages or characters) and didn't like it, playing through a second time isn't gonna make you suddenly love the game.I take a different view. There are games that I didn't like at first, but started liking/loving it after I give them more time.
Quote from: jperryss on 04/14/2009, 09:32 PMAs I said in my other post, I thought it was OK but not amazing. Definitely better than the SNES 'version' and I would like to have it in my collection eventually.Your assumption is incorrect. I played through CV1 & CV3 during the NES era; played through CV4 in 1992 and CVX (SNES) in 1995. Not until 2000, did I play Dracula X - chi no rondo (purchase the game with Duo R at the same time). To me, Akumajo Dracula X - chi no rondo is so amazing that I was playing the game for 3 straight days non-stop to get it 100% complete. The music & atmosphere are simply awesome.
I imagine if CV4 was the first CV game you ever played, you definitely wouldn't appreciate Rondo (or CV1, 2, or 3 for that matter). I grew up on CV and I think I've played through every 2D 'non-Metroidvania' CV game, and probably in pretty close to the order they were released (except Rondo which I didn't get to play until many years later). Bloodlines was the only one I disliked enough to probably never play again. I play through CV1 and CV3 at least once a year.
Quote from: Cyborc on 04/06/2009, 08:47 PMguys I can vouch for this seller, purchased devil crash from them and recieved it promptly.Same here. Bought a whole bunch of games from this seller and he/she is pretty honest.
Quote from: nectarsis on 08/04/2008, 10:33 PMI did bid...supposedly at the same time as someone did the BIN (which is crap as it didn't have one)..they relisted it 5 min latter to the other person at the BINnectarsis, betrayed1436 was the winner for your auction. Here is another BIN auction for Might & Magic 3 & Beyond Shawdowgate (Item number: 330263265294):
Quote from: nat on 08/14/2008, 12:08 AMThat's a great price on those two games. You won't find 'em cheaper than that. Thanks Nat. I bought Spriggan not too long ago but don't like it. I am trying to raise fund for a huge purchase that's why Strider has to go
Quote from: Lochlan on 08/07/2008, 12:44 AMIf you don't win that eBay auction, I'd pull the trigger on this one if I were you. I just bought PCE Gradius from twalden, and unlike a sketchy ebay seller he ships immediately and in a box, so you know it will be secure.Lochlan is right. Buy from twalden!!! I bought a whole bunch of PCE games from him 2 weeks ago and he gave me an incredible deal. All of his games are in excellent condition as well. If I weren't looking for the CD version, I would have bought this Raiden from him in a second.
You might ask him what it comes with, too; the picture of the Gradius I bought showed only the manual, case, and Hu like the pics posted in this thread -- but it also included the reg card and a konami promo insert for Gradius, Salamander, and Parodius (I was very pleasantly surprised).
Quote from: Lochlan on 08/03/2008, 12:01 AMI bought it today at the NW Classic Gaming Enthusiasts annual Retro Gaming Expo. Picked it up with New Zealand Story, Tennokoe Bank, and a loose copy of Boxy Boy for $25.Yeah, demo copies are not easy to come by for some reason. I own some DC & SS demo that cannot be found on Ebay or store as well.
From the same guy I got a MINT/complete copy of Vay for $20 and a Saturn joystick for $5. The guy I bought it from had a crazy amount of good deals (the one I really wish I could have picked up was BoF IV sealed for $20) and some really weirdo rare stuff that I couldn't afford (Dreamcast dev kit).
I'm definately going to save my pennies for when next year rolls around
Quote from: Lochlan on 07/29/2008, 05:39 AMFYI, it's my understanding that modding a Super Grafx to play US Hucards causes problems with Aldynes. I believe it's playable, but it causes problems with the demo. IIRC his is based on something Dean said to the Turbo list. Thanks for the infor Lochlan,
If you can't get somebody to install a region switch that will open/short pin 29 (IIRC) I would just stick to a mod on your Duo.
Quote from: RR1980 on 06/26/2008, 08:35 PMhaha so lately I have been going through all my old stuff in the basement caues I am moving out of the country soon and I found my old PCE GT along with my Hu Card games. I am going try to see if I can sell them since I would rather let someone enjoy them instead of letting them sit in my basement for another 10 yrs. So I was just taking pics of the cases and manuals with the games and one of the games is Super Volleu Ball but to my surprise when I took out the manual instead of being a booklet it's actually a folded up poster type and the instructions are in Chinese! And then when I looked at the Hu Card itself the image on the card instead of being printed directly onto the card it was actually printed on a sticker and then put on the card. I guess volleyball is pretty straight forward so I never really needed to open up the manual to find out how to play the game so I was fooled all these yrs!! :-S heheBack in the days when PC Engine was popular, bootleg Hucard surfaced in Hong Kong and Taiwan. "TL system" does not stand for the bootleg Shuttle system that was made in China (these Hucard exist before those bootleg machines were made).
Quote from: pixeljunkie on 06/05/2008, 06:38 PMI am interested in any/all those games should things fall throughUpdated SOLD items. I received quite a few emails asking for the PCE CD games. If the sales fall through, the priority goes to the next person in line.
Quote from: nectarsis on 06/04/2008, 10:12 PMA link to your Ebay items may be helpful ;)UPDATED: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZkitkit.com
Quote from: nat on 05/12/2008, 12:08 AMI added some shots of the underside of the disc to the first post. When the disc is viewed by itself it's not quite as apparent that it's a CD-R, held up against a "real" pressed game (Splash Lake in this case), the difference is pretty apparent. Thanks for the additional pics Nat. I would not pay $160 for a CD-R....
