Well, this store in town has complete Master System games for 79 and 99 cents.  In the past few days I've picked up Psycho Fox, Golden Axe Warrior, Fantasy Zone, Spiderman, Choplifter, Wonderboy, Cloudmaster, Dick Tracy, The Ninja, Strider, and a few others.... 99cents? :D

I feel like I have this same problem as well, where I periodically go through my games and count off how many I could sell and never miss (yet I never sell any).

Many I still have out of feelings of nostalgia.  I don't think I'll ever sell my SNES and copies of Zelda, Metroid,
Super Mario etc., because these are the games I remember from my childhood.  Chrono cross was the first 'true' RPG that I ever finished.  Windwaker was the first 'modern' title I ever played, and have great memories of playing it night after night, sailing that amazing looking ocean.  The list is quite long, so suffice it to say that many games on many different systems hold great memories for me.

Other games I keep because I spent so much money on them, and just can't rationalize selling them.  Examples would be Earthbound, Zenki FX, Castlevania Drac X, and others.  Conversely, I don't sell some of my games because of how inexpensive they were.  I mean, is it really worth the time and effort to sell my Genesis copy of Primal Rage?  How much is it worth, like 75 cents?  Might as well just keep it...

And finally, some games I keep because they have places of pride in my collection.  I finished, and never play Final Fantasy VII (and only spent $14.99), but it seems like one of those games you should have in your collection, regardless.

Well shit, thats a sad story.  Since you all care, I have a few things...
1.  So, you find out that at the very least your wife is sending pics to guys, if not outright cheating, and your solution is to grovel, say 'I love you' and write little fancy notes?  Bitch should have been out of the house with a sense of urgency

2.  How is this tied to the 360?  Is it how she met the guys?  After the first couple paragraphs the 360 got dropped. I thought this was going to be about a 360 scratching some discs and costing money or something...

3.  I've begun to notice that certain members always seem to have A LOT to say about everything on this forum, and can never let anything go (creating many rants ).  Other certain members seem like they always have to put in little snipy, annoying comments, which in turn cheese others off.

4.  My final opinion?  Likely both man and wife are at fault, both should agree to divorce/share kids/fuck strangers, entire issue should never have been put online, and certain forum members need to take a huge fucking chill pill

Sounds great...can't wait :D

Oh God, it's really happening....all of you, read Michael Crichton's book, NEXT.  It talks about stuff like this happening.

I would highly recommend getting one, though the system/games can be very pricey.
While many would say just download the games/ buy a compilation disc (like on the psp), I think games should be played on their original system.

Call me a purist :P

And i'm gonna agree w/ deadite, if you love arcade brawlers/shooters/platformers/arcade games in general, this is the system to have

Sorry, Japanese system/games only.  But get one anyway, as many of the games are very playable, even without knowledge of japanese

My son was going through my games, and he wanted to watch Paper Mario:  The Thousand Year Door

So I've been playing that for a while-I'm actually enjoying it more now than the first time I played it :D

Hey guys, I know there are some action figure collectors in the forum, and I've heard a lot of you live in the midwest as well.

Just wanted to let everyone know that this sunday, Oct. 26th, is the Antique Toy and Doll World Show, held in the Kane County fairgrounds.

I can't say I'm big on dolls [-X, but the show always has an unbelieveable amount of classic toys, such as G.I. Joe, Transformers, MOTU, M.A.S.K., to newish toys like Marvel Legends and McFarlane, and even import japanese toys (i've picked up a few japanese beast wars in the past, for example).  And yes, in the past few shows, I've found a good number of classic games :D

Some things I've found over the years....MIB Edmontonia from Dino Riders, Dreamcast bundle of 30+ games and system, original Nightmare Before Christmas Santa, Marvel Legends Toad, Beast Wars Tako Tank (the taco tank, yum ), 'Chest Burster' Aliens T-Shirt (from when Aliens came out in theaters)  Castle Greyskull, Outlaw Tanker from M.A.S.K., uh, well, I could really go on forever.......

I've been going for years, and it's an amazing time. I always try and bring as much money as possible, because you never know what you will find. The site to find out more is www.chicagotoyshow.com

The Kane County fairgrounds are about a 45 min drive west from Chicago, in St. Charles, Illinois.

Quote from: drdre on 10/18/2008, 12:14 PMHey, can you guys let me know what this is about (mainly opinions/impressions)?  What kinds of setups are there?  Sellers, or only to play?  I gotta say I'm pretty curious because I only live about an hour away (just across the Wisconsin/Illinois border), so any info/opinions would be great.  Thanks!
It's a classic gaming convention held in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. There are tons of games to play, sellers, speeches, and contests. I've written articles with pictures on my website here for the past three MGCs.

I've been meaning to ask you where you live in Illinois? I live in the south Chicago subburb of Crete, which you probably haven't heard of. There are quite a few Chicago PCEFXers here and Wisconsiners too.
Cool, I'm pretty sure that I'm going, this sounds awesome....I live in Rockford, directly south from Madison, or west of Chicago-right now I commute between Rockford and Dekalb, where I'm at school (N.I.U.)
So yeah, I'm really close to you guys, I imagine  :)

Off-Topic / Re: Your Parents
10/15/2008, 08:09 AM
Well, I'm very sorry for everyone that has bad parents, though I can't say the same...

My father immigrated from Costa Rica when he was in his twenties, and met my mom in California (I'm mixed).  While my mother constantly brings up the fact that the first 5 or so years of their marriage were terrible, due to my father's cheating/beating, after 5 years passed, and we moved out of a terrible neighborhood of Chicago, things got much better (I was only like 3 at the time).

Between then and when my parents divorced, I had a pretty good childhood.  Sure, my parents had their quirks, their own way of getting angry and dealing with it ( my dad never hit, but when he was really, really mad, he would grab us by our ears), but overall I had a good, stable childhood.  We went on tons of family vacations, my mother bought me numerous toys with my father's money, etc.  I can't say I ever saw them really fight/treat me or my brother badly.

When my parent divorced I was 17, so it didn't really affect me too much, I was old enough to see it coming.  After that, though, things did get a little weird....

Fast forward to today- my parents are still divorced/unmarried, my father has a particular fondness for women (lots of women) and my mother, who is older than my father and in bad health, has a particular fondness for marijuana (and yes, i am her enabler, since I don't want a 60 year old woman trying to buy drugs by herself).

In their defense, when my son was born and I was only 19 (living at home, going to community college) they both took it very well, and both have continued to support me greatly!

Quote from: Keranu on 10/11/2008, 07:53 AMThanks for posting that great information! Never played Advanced V.G. yet, but any 2D fighting games would've been a welcoming addition to the PC-FX's library.

I wonder what that 3D RPG by Hudson was? That cancelled Tengai Makyou game? I also wondered why Policenauts wasn't on PC-FX! Would've been perfect for the system.
Damn, you are most very correct!  Policenauts WOULD be fantastic for the system (and if they could release it for the 3DO, you know they could have released it for the FX)
#24
Yeah, I got one (never had these problems with it...)  One of my least favorite systems tho...

Yeah, that faq worked for me up to a point...but then it got weird  :(

Well, let's see...in the past couple days I obtained Warioworld for the GC and Astro Boy for the GBA  :D
#27
Wow, that sounded cool until the 'removal of gba slot' business

How the hell am I supposed to play Astro Boy and Electroplankton at the same time?
#28
Welcome!  It really depends on the game, though the vast majority have japanese text to some extent.  I personally don't speak or read japanese, but have still been able to find more than a few games that are completely playable.  Other games I need a walkthrough to get me through certain parts.  And some games are completely unplayable.

I say get one, and start off with some games like Battle Heat, Last Imperial Prince, Boundary Gate, Galaxy Fraulein Yuna and maybe Power Dolls FX.

If you have the money, the best, most action oriented games are Zenki FX, Chip Chan Kick, and Super God Trooper Zeroigar.  All are very expensive, but require no knowledge of japanese, and are fantastic games!

I'll try to post some of my other rare action figures later on.
Well damn if you don't have the rarest of the rare!  First the Dracula X HuCard, and now the super exclusive headless Grimlock!?!

Again, quite a good review.  I completely agree about the music being the only aspect of the game that was not quite 'up to par.'  I also like how you described it in relation to street fighter, as one of the most common misconceptions is "it's FMV, so push a button and wait for the video."  If you've played the game, you know that there is essentially no waiting, and has a very different feel than almost any other FMV game.

And I always thought if the bar was yellow, it was a normal attack, blue for a slightly more powerful projectile attack, and red for the special, very powerful attacks.

Beat Sin & Punishment.  Again.

Maybe try the forum on racketboy.com

I've never visited the forum, but the site is pretty good, and it's where I found the codes I needed to play Alien Soldier (it has region lockout as well), so maybe one of the forum members will know

Quote from: Duo_R on 09/28/2008, 05:38 AMsubmitting some feedback on this site - for some reason I don't enjoy browsing around. Something about the user interface for me needs to be upgraded. I also do specific searches like "sega saturn multi tap" and 5 pages of misc stuff pops up.

Ebay - I can browse for hours looking at auctions, but I have a harder time doing that on this website. Maybe the font needs to be bigger, different colors. Needs a little more unique feel to it I guess. I like what I find on there, the prices are right, the fees are right. I think u just need to get the asthetics down (just sharing my honest opinion).
Agreed.  I've visited the site a few times, and while I can't point any specific flaw, the whole site seems....unpolished, maybe?  I'm not saying it has to completely imitate ebay, but the site should be more attractive, maybe a little 'friendlier'?

Excellent game, though the last boss is 'teh weaksauce'

God, toys and games, the worst enemies to my wallet....
I collect a vast majority of eighties toylines, with emphasis on the more obscure.  Right now, I would name off Dino Riders , M.A.S.K., Boglins, Crystar, Aliens (kenner), Barnyard Commandos, Transformers, etc.

I also own like a friggin million Marvel Legends, the vast majority of which I had to buy to make a build-a-figure (Blob, Brood Queen, Fin Fang Foom, Sentinel, Mojo, MODOK, Giant Man...most of them) :(

Also have a few random Japanese toys- Max Factory Guyver, Evangelion, Devil Man

When I started off collecting, I would only buy MIP/MIB, but now I also enjoy collecting loose/complete figures and playsets!

Zenki FX (thanks Sensei) :D
Though, I already beat it straight through twice, got both endings, etc.  :(

Quote from: guest on 09/24/2008, 05:46 PMOne that I often hear is that it's a hentai machine, though pervy games comprise a fairly small percentage of its titles.
Word on that-before I got my FX, I thought it was purely hentai.  Owning one I see that it's not necessarily true-I've got about 10 games so far, and none are hentai

So, fairly recently I received Zenki FX, and a little bit later Alien Soldier (megadrive).  Obviously Alien Soldier is not a PC-FX game, but I felt the similarities between the two were so strong, I would create a post to compare/contrast.

While Zenki is a beat'em up and Alien Soldier is a run'n gun, as soon as you start playing the games, you notice the similarities.  The main similarity, and the strength for both of the games, are the boss fights.  In fact, for both games, it seems as the entire game was based around numerous boss fights, with short levels in between.  Zenki has slightly longer levels and less bosses, while A.S. has shorter levels and more bosses.  But in the end, the 'feel' of the games is very similar.

As I said, the bosses in both games are fantastic-inventive, unique, visually impressive, and (usually) fairly well balanced.  Razerou is my fave in Zenki, while Wolfgunblood takes the show in A.S.  I feel that a game unique, visually outstanding bosses, with short levels in between is a great idea.  One of the greatest aspects of any 2D action game are the bosses, and both games understand this.  However, I think Zenki should have taken a page out of A.S.'s book, and had even more bosses.  It felt like this was the direction that the game was taking, with the main focus on bosses, but was ended early, with not enough.

A flaw that is similar in both games is the lack of different enemy types.  In Zenki, there can't be more than about 10 or so basic enemies, while in A.S. it's even less (maybe 6-7, seems like).  I also felt that both games had such great focus on visuals, that maybe the sound/music fell by the wayside.....nothing too terrible, but with both games the visuals are noticeably good, while the music is noticeably 'average.

If you've never seen Alien Soldier (or Zenki), go on youtube and check it out.  The games are not identical, but even with a brief viewing you should be able to see the similarities between the two.
And I'm not favoring one game or the other, or 'hating' on one game over another-both are my favorite games for their respective systems, and I would highly recommend one game if you've played the other.  Watch Alien Soldier (and Zenki) and let me know what you guys think!

Went out to this giant flea market they have twice a year...

Quote from: forsigmar on 09/16/2008, 09:58 AMWhat really kills me is that about 5 years ago I had a perfectly working Duo and Express.  I have learned a hard lesson about selling off my game collection.  It will cost you 2x the amount to get it back, and you will want it back so just don't sell it in the first place.  I really don't miss things like the 3Do, Cdi, Jaguar, but the Turbo, Genesis, Snes, Nes were all greatly missed.
God, I've had to learn this lesson the hard way as well.  You sell cause you think you'll never play it again, and then you regret the decision very fast  :(
