Quote from: Freeway2 on 06/16/2017, 11:35 AMYou would still need to test it from my understanding.
It cannot be tested the way described above because the composite IS the Y/green input. I've already got my TG-16 hooked up via the composite out of my CD dock into the Green input which doubles as the composite input if nothing else is plugged into the Red and Blue component inputs.
#2
My samsung component input is shared with the composite input. So the yellow composite video input IS the Y/green input.
#3
Thanks for the replies guys!

Would the component or rgb mods work from the booster/dock?

Also where are the kits for these mods?

Keith do you offer either of these upgrades?
#4
I have two TG systems, one with a TurboBooster Plus and one is a full CD system. I've been slumming it with the AV out into my Samsung LED tv... but I just got a Sony PVM for my studio where I plan to keep one of the systems. It's a lower model PVM with only composite and S-video. I would like to do a clean S-vid mod on one of the units and possibly an RBG on the other. I'm capable of doing light tech work, I have modded a few Ataris for AV. So I know my way around a DMM and a soldering iron.

My LED only has Component (or Composite) a DB-15 jack labelled "PC" as well as the usual HDMI inputs. No S-video no RGB (unless that is what the DB-15 port is for. would like to explore the possibility of using this before dropping $$$ on a Framemeister.

Can you guys point me to some mod tutorials or some advice as to which path(s) to take.

Cheers,

I've looked at pictures of the washer... and it looks like a flat washer that is clipped. Like a split ring clip but flat instead of spiraled. I suppose I could find a suitable washer of the right size using calipers to measure the notch in the shaft and splitting a the tiny washer with some small hardened snips (diagonal cutters). Or maybe a fiber washer that will press-fet. Time to hit Mcmaster Carr.
#6
Well the middle gear was yellowed and stuck. visibly undamaged otherwise... however when trying to remove the washer/clip It flew off, I though somewhere into the recesses of the lens assembly, but I cannot find it. I hope this little washer or something can be used. Perhaps McMaster Carr has something... perhaps I can tear open a RC car servo... I dunno.

Hopefully one of you guys knows can help a dude out.

Bumping this topic because my TG16 rom is doing the same exact thing. not sure how to troubleshoot this. i only can find my super system CD card. I thought I had the regular CD system card somewhere but cannot seem to find it. Not sure if that would make any difference.

Hucards boot fine.
Super CD card in on power up asks for Run...
"PC" lights up on "Run" but not sound or movement from CD drive.

What should I check first?

Maybe test CD player out of system with audio CD?

Been away a while making music and building things... but I wanted to show my daughter some games and was treated to this today. really bummed :-(

NYC/Brooklyn.

Be forewarned... I'm terrible at video games but I love them and don't mind watching if my ineptitude becomes a drag.

Round one of baking soda, only a few days. Removed a tad of the odor. Reading online suggests Bounce dryer sheets between each page for a few days. They also suggest discarding baking soda every few days since it absorbs only so much.

I currently have them all sitting in a sealed box with layers of soda between each page. I'll try a couple few more rounds of this.

Should I complain to the seller? This wasn't an eBay auction but a known seller. all the packing materials smelled of smoke too. I'm really surprised about this.
#10
Having daily enjoyment playing Dragon Slayer.... slow going as I only get in about a hour or two a day.

My drive has been making some slightly more aggressive than normal noises. Is that the norm with this game?
#11
Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes

Just got this a few days ago.

Just made it to "Chapter 2: The Chase" this morning...

Nice turn-based RPG.
#12
Quote from: guest on 12/28/2011, 01:16 PMYeah but then you've got all your crap sitting in baking soda, lol.
It should just brush off... then I can wipe them down with the most-ever-so-slightly damp cloth (windex seems to work great for this BTW, as it evaporates so rapidly), just damp enough to "pick up" the powder but not moisten the paper.
#13
Ys... the Book I intro was "wow"! but the intro to Book II was "holy f@ck!". I had never imagined video games could be that cool.

Before Ys, Double Dungeons and Dungeon Explorer really defined the coolness of the system for me and I played many hours on those... Bonk's Adventure really sealed the deal that I had made the right choice back on Christmas 1990.

Ys made me a lifer.
#14
I don't think the Baking soda will actually harm the paper if it touches it. So I just threw them in a cookie tin with a heaping dose of the stuff... I think if the soda makes contact it may actually absorb more of the odor... I will check it daily to make sure no dame is being done though.

$6 +shipping fair?

For anybody making offers and want to estimate shipping, fees, etc.:
My zip is 11220. I mostly ship USPS Priority in most cases unless I can do Parcel or Media for cheaper. Sometimes the later two are not available via online/paypal. I prefer to do it as a PayPal merchandise sale so I can generate a label myself. I'm lazy so this keeps me from having to walk to the post office. (I live in Brooklyn and don't have a car). But I have a home business so I schedule pickups twice a week. I'll Try to factor my PayPal fees into my price.

Cool?

I should have some more stuff as I slowly sell other things on eBay and buy up games I need.

Anybody need a TG16 core system? Might have one with a nice box and manual... complete. Not sure yet, I acquired two this week. I will keep one but might give the other to a friend for xmas. If not I'll post it.

I dunno what's fair?

PM me if you are interested.

Bumping this to see if anybody has some new ideas... I recently purchased some really nice copies of some Super CD games from a reputable seller. The games are in fantastic shape... however they REEK of smoke.

I disassembled them and cleaned the discs and trays with Windex... that only helped with the cases, the trays still stink as do the CD faces (not the play surface, weird) so I let those sit for a few minutes with a spritz of Fabreeze on them then repeated the Windex wipe-down. Semmed to work there.

Now, what to do with the booklets and tray cards?

Buy/Sell/Trade / Some games & stuff
12/25/2011, 12:10 PM
Just acquired a collection from a friend... so now I have some duplicates:

Legendary Axe (Hu, Case and manual)
World Class Baseball (Hu, Case and Manual)
Sidearms (Hu and Sleeve only)

TurboPad in original Box.
TurboTap Box only.

Everything is in Good to excellent condition.

Make offers.
#21
Maybe somebody has a case they wanna part with? We could each get a clip out of it... ;)

Or one of us could sell a clip to the other and then buy a case with both.
#22
Cool! Thanks for finding that.

Nice mod that guy did. Tennokoe 2 banks are cheap... I might have to grab just for giggles.
#23
Quote from: BigusSchmuck on 12/22/2011, 04:59 PMYou could just get a chopsado and use that.
How would this help?
#24
Yesh, I assume.

But I thought it would be cool to have a just the compact PCE hooked up to a tiny TV in my office.... really want the White one but that limits modern tv options and doesn't look that great.
#25
Thanks.

Trimming on the TNK or the TG16?

Has anybody else tried this?
#26
Will the TenNoKoe 2 fit and work with the US Turbografx 16.

searched, check the compatibility guide... couldn't find conclusive info.

Thanks.
#27
Anybody ever swap a Core 1 or 2 PCB into an original white PCE shell. seems like a more elegant solution to adding AV to the White PCE and having an empty switch slot to add a region mod.

I'm really a fan of the white PCE but don't wanna do all the work for both the AV mod and the region switch.

The only problem then is you are left with a Core shell and a PCE PCB.

Catalog gone.
#29
Bloody Wolf and Dragons Spirit Manual Both gone!

i also just found one of those  small 4-page, foldout catalogs, like 2" x 6". probably came with the TurboPad or TurboTap. Orange, shows TurboPad, Stick, Booster (no Plus), Tap and CDRom, and 8 games. Good condition. Again free.

Also, I have an extra RF adaptor/switcher... Any interest? prolly would want you to cover shipping on this one.
#30
Just PM your addy if you need either of these:

Bloody Wolf HuCard loose, no slip.

Dragon Spirit Manual, fair condition, has some wear and dried schmutz on the cover. I'll try to clean it but it's fair at best.

shipping should be peanuts in the ConUS... so don't sweat it.

International orders I will have to calculate shipping and see...
#31
I had one pop off years ago... and I know it's floating around my mother's house somewhere but alas I don't think I will ever find it.

If somebody has an extra case they would like to sell let me know... Also If you have a case that is beat up and isn't worth shipping I would gladly pay you for a latch (or two)

Cheers,
David

Quote from: TheMilford on 12/19/2011, 01:26 PMYou made an inaccurate assumption and didn't even make your point very well...
Your price fishing expedition wasn't pertinent, so what's to assume?  It was merely a ridiculous offer in response to an equally ridiculous BIN price; I certainly wasn't trying to teach you the error of your ways (99.9% of the time a seller's response would be indignant rage that I don't comprehend how 'rare' their collection is).

Quote from: TheMilford on 12/19/2011, 01:26 PMYou could have just dropped me a message either here or eBay. And if you're gonna engage in detective work you have a minimum due diligence... A quick search would have vetted that I was a member here.
What difference does it make if you're a member here or not?  A price gouge is a price gouge is a price gouge.
It makes all the difference in the world. I assume you guys regard this place as a community... To presume any forum member had the worst of intentions is counterproductive to the point of having community in the first place. "Innocent until proven guilty", "assume the best of intentions" and all that. I would hope the more active members here would take umbrage with your sentiment. It's dismissive and presumptuous.

Quote from: guest on 12/19/2011, 05:27 PM
Quote from: TheMilford on 12/19/2011, 01:26 PMJust maybe consider taking it down a notch, consider maybe that your tactic is slightly flawed.
The only step down from calling out price gouges for what they are and making silly offers is doing nothing.  I'm not interested in tilting at windmills and teaching gougers to care about something beyond maximizing profits, though it's nice if that's what happens.
But you went a step FURTHER by advertising what you did and calling me clown on a public forum, (that it turns out I was a member on)... possibly rallying more to act in the same. Mob mentality at it's finest.

Whatever dude. At least I was humble and reflective. Do you think your little passive-agressive quips do anything at all for the real gougers, or the community for that matter? Imaginary enemies indeed.

All i'm asking is maybe you exercise a little tact and consider that maybe you're method of policing is an ineffective and insulting waste of time you yourself, the recipient and your community.

I listed the thing for what it was worth TO ME. I was in a state of financial woe... But I ultimately I took responsibility for being flip. I wasn't looking to gouge anybody and you know this... The least you could do is exercise some humility and reflection... I did. And It didn't hurt one bit.

You might be a good guy, but your eBay actions were certainly worthy of the big top.  Unrealistic BINs are a big factor in why eBay's prices are so nutso for Turbob goodies, which was why I took umbrage with your auction.
Got it.

No, because you chose to react and waste your time and mine. You made an inaccurate assumption and didn't even make your point very well... I admitted to making a bad judgement and adjusted accordingly. I was humble even and open to the candor. However Your behavior was simply presumptuous and reactionary.

If this is some sort of apology I accept, no hard feelings. Just maybe consider taking it down a notch, consider maybe that your tactic is slightly flawed.

And the buttons in action with PCE.emu (jump to 9:55).
CRAZY, I just got the Gamebox TODAY and read this thread... after playing Dungeon Explorer for a bit I was sitting on the toilet and I invented this exact same thing in my head... however I was thinking of ways to "convert" a TurboPad. Which I may still have to do. ;)

Now they just need to update the Gamebox to eliminate the onsceen controller and support the iControlPad.
#37
Thanks all. And honestly, no hard feelings. I came here because after I received 5 or 6 $10-15 offers I figured the answer might be in a post contained herein. Either way, It has helped me to think this through.

So, I've thought about it... AND: With the price currently at $1300 Or Best Offer. I'm going all-or-nothing ($1000 would being my bottom). As it were, It was my original intent to, albeit starting a tad high, justify letting it go. The chuck of cash would help me to finance a very importance piece of equipment for my band, which is my top priority after my family. I'm just not ready to go through the process of parting it out and dealing with all the separate shipping and packing, etc. Although I am still considering just selling a few items (ones without sentimental value) that folks expressed interest... Order of the Griffon would be hard for me to part with if I was keeping the core system. But I'm considering Buster Bros, YsIII and the Super System card (along with all the SCD games) as I really have no nostalgia for since recently I acquired them.

You may have noticed I have other non-gmaing items up on eBay... If a few of those sell I won't need to sell the TG16 lot. If I go another month without selling my big items I may reconsider parting out the collection here.

I appreciate being able to use this forum as a sounding board. And I apologize for a bit of trolling, since it's been a eon since I was last active.

Cheers,
David

Ok, I'll let it run this week. Then I'll itemize it all here if I'm still up for it.

I assume the core system with Keith Courage is just worth holding onto?

I guess I should have come here first... I just got on an eBay tear. figured why not. I can admit bad judgment on my part. I'm sure you guys understand.

BTW: How are the emulators? is there any way to use a TG controller with my MAC? ;)
#39
THANKS GUYS!

See, these are the kind of responses I was trying to elicit from my sale... Pretty sure I hinted at this in the copy.

Anyway, I will consider your offer(s). I'm really just not sure. I will really miss playing Ys ;)
#40
But I'm not doing any of that... I see lot auctions all the time but many do not have complete games, nice boxes, all the inserts and posters in perfect shape.... and a Legendary Axe shirt? I've actually never seen another.

I mean, I get what you are saying. We get incensed when we see gougers. But even while I was buying up stuff a few years back I would see crazy asking prices. if I felt compelled I would offer what I really thought it was worth and you know what? I got most of my rarer stuff at reasonable prices that way. What's to gain by poking the trolls with rhetorical assertions?

Look, I collect a lot of stuff. The TG16 thing is/was a small side thing for me, I loved it as a kid and wanted to expand my collection. So I ended up realizing I collect far too many things and put it on ice. But you have to understand I get it. I'm a heavy TSR/D&D collector and I can attest the gouging is far more egregious over there... Or try buying and selling vintage musical equipment. yikes!

I wouldn't be offended if somebody offered me $750... I would even think about it for a minute. I would counter offer for sure but if that was an offer I would have actually learned more about the current market from that simple interaction. A $10 offer is just a waste of everybody's time.
#41
No offense taken BTW. I was just defending myself and sayin' what I think.

Ok, I get the feeling nobody actually looked at what's in there. I know 80% is common. But if I was compelled to put this collection together somebody else might as well. And there are some harder to find items there.

I'm not looking to gouge anybody... if I was in the market I would make a offer on this. It might be lower than the asking price but then I would hope for a counter offer... and so on.

Please tell me what I could get for the lot? 'Cause I'm looking at closed auctions for some random games and I'm not seeing anything for less than $15... some go for quite a bit more... and I got 30+ of them.
#42
Ok... dropped the price to $1400. Still high I know but not crazy if you were to cobble all this stuff together separately.

I might see what happens this week and if it doesn't go I might sell off just the CD ROM, SCD card and games... keep the core system and the common stuff... maybe let Order of the Griffon go... I dunno, I really don't wanna sell it. But a chunk would go a long way for the family and I can always find this stuff again if the bug hits me during a more lucrative time.

Am I still a clown? Should I really care what you guys think?

Best,

I'm not a clown and I don't really want to part with my stuff but I need to at least list it to see what kind of "reasonable offers I might get. Times are tough right now so I decided to "just see what happens". Video games are just not a priority right now. I'm torn about even considering letting this go as I was hoping to pass all of this cool stuff that I spent years collecting to my daughter...

Yes that price is SUPER high, but If those actually interested started shooting me real offers instead of trying to make a point and be snarky, somebody might actually end up with a good deal. And I did lower the price from $1800 to $1600.

I'm sure it will sell to somebody for much, much less than I'm asking. I'm not clueless.

Tell me what is it really worth? Should I part it out? Should I just sell the rares?

Truly,
David
Why not just list it slightly above a reasonable price that you would let it go for in the first place? Not a number that is way higher than it is all worth. It does make you come off as a seller that won't take actual reasonable offers of which the lot would be worth. It will appear as a waste of time for potential buyers. Those are all common lower priced games. I don't see a Bonk 3, Magical Chase or Dynastic Hero... not even so much as a Japanese Dracula X or Double Dragon 2. Not to mention the whole point of even buying a collection bundle 9/10 times is to just simply get a great deal.
Fair enough... But I was assuming it would be most appealing to people looking to get into the TG16 thing, not seasoned collectors. If I had those kind of games I would sell them off outright. And there are some less common items in there like the Super CD card, Ys III, Order of the Griffon (with OG box), etc.

It's an experiment... I'm sure I will adjust it depending on how serious I get about unloading it or maybe I'll take it down if business picks up and we can afford to pay our mortgage...

Passive aggressive BS is just lazy and trite. He could have just messaged me and told me I was WAY off and suggested a price. I mean, I am a member here... even though it's been forever since I last posted.
