Quote from: esteban on 02/05/2015, 07:03 PMNOTE: Stop getting lost in the old debates (pirating vs reproductions vs preservation)...

...and acknowledge that we only have a few folks actively (or even semi-actively) working on fan translations/hacks/ports/dubs etc.

I, for one, do not want to demoralize and disrupt our tiny group of creators because of the petty, selfish and short-sighted actions of others.

THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE. FUCK EVERYTHING ELSE.

It really is that simple. You either support the creators, or you are a selfish douchebag.

It really is that simple.
I respect that.  If the translators don't want a pressing, I wouldn't go around their wishes.  I wasn't even asking for a translated version, the original version is fine with me (just patched to run on non-modded systems).  My point was that beyond emulation, the only way to play the original disc (without paying $200 for PCE-CD copy) is by burning it to a blank CD-R.  Many people like having this kind of thing in their collection.

Quote from: PCEngineHell on 02/04/2015, 01:36 AMDid you create the game yourself? Is it your IP? Are you going to reimburse the creators of said work if it is not yours, per a legal agreement worked out between you and the original owners of said IP? If your answer is no to all the above, then you already know what the harm in it is. As stated prior, don't publicly involve this forum in that activity. If you plan to do this kind of crap, keep it to yourself and behind the scenes. This forum does not need to be attached to open bootlegging, especially for profit, no matter how low those profits may be.
There's a MASSIVE reproduction community for cart-based systems on retail games that didn't make it to North America.  Again, my point was how is this any different?  Konami says NOTHING about all it's games patched to NTSC and sold as complete repros on NES, Genesis or SNES.  There are folks doing Dreamcast reproduction, albeit usually without pressing the discs with an OEM-looking label.  Shoot, I'd take a North American looking CD insert/manual, and a CD-R with a printed label on it (doesn't even have to be clear).  Konami won't care, the translators aren't involved, etc.   If someone does it, I'll order one.  Then come here, and say my penance and 10 Hail Mary's, etc. and ask for forgiveness....

If it costs say $30 a pop to press the CD and make the inserts/manual, plus shipping, and the person doing this charges say a $10 fee for their time spent, what's the harm in that?  As long as they aren't versions which were released at retail.

There'd be a LONG, long list of those who would gladly pay for a translated Dracula X CD pressed, including ME!!!!

Quote from: CGQuarterly on 01/07/2015, 03:46 PMI liked some of Metal Jesus' earlier videos.  But now he's making videos to generate views, rather than doing it for its own sake (because I think he's trying to do it for a living maybe).  Same thing happened to Classic Game Room.
I would agree with that.  I prefer when it's just him talking about a couple games.  His friends are not entertaining, and they seem to flash through the games.

Very nice!  Unfortunately I have the Stone Age Gamer deluxe version already.

I greatly enjoy MJR videos.  So there.

Ugh, and I just had my TG modded to use the GEN 2 SCART plug!  Great work as always though db.

In junior high school, a couple of my friends had a TG-16, that was about it.  They didn't have many games beyond the standard fare.  Bonk, TV Sports, Splatterhouse, etc.  No one had the Turbo Duo.  So I just kind of forgot about it.  I love shmups, so I wound up getting a TG-16 several years ago.  It collected dust until the Everdrive became available though!
#9
Right, no Konami code.

Runs really well, the music is great.  I have a TG-16 and Turbo Everdrive but no Turbo Tap.  Gameplay feels exactly like the NES.

Issues: The sound effect for the grenades is not great, nor explosions.  In the game music, anything that is drum/percussion heavy seems to have a popping sound.  Screen scrolling occasionally gets a single black horizontal/vertical line for a second.  Lastly, when scrolling, the "ground" seems to get a lot more blurry than the NES version.

Frankly, this is amazingly close to the NES, though I can't test 2P mode, and I feel a huge improvement musically over your Contra port.  The music (beyond the drums) is an improvement over NES thanks to better TG hardware.

PS: I compared my results to using Magic Engine on PC.  On the emulator, the scrolling seems fine, no blurriness, with occasional screen glitches.  Percussion isn't as distorted/popping.  FWIW, I used TurboBooster composite out directly to HDTV, which looks like shit.  Then used it with my DVDO upscaler, which cleans it up nearly perfectly.  Still has the glitches I mentioned.

Lastly, I hooked up the TG to an old CRT, and the blurriness in the background scrolling seems much better, so could just be the LCD TV's crappy deinterlacing.

Of all the SAG Deluxe editions, I felt this one was the nicest, with the most work put into.  The case is excellent.  I was very happy to get one in the first batch.  But it's not for everyone.

Quote from: Deletion on 06/05/2013, 07:58 PMA question I've been wondering about... Does the speed of the SD card affect how fast the ROM loads into memory?
Pretty certain no.

Yay!!!!

BeaglePuss is one of the founders of NintendoAge/SegaAge websites/forums.  He's on them all the time.  They have released prototype roms in the past, not sure what they're looking to do with this one.

Quote from: Duo_R on 05/17/2013, 11:48 AMI have been tryin to determine if I should get an SD2Snes or the Super ED. Did you add DSP1 chip to yours?
I think all the new ones Krikzz makes have DSP-1 installed.  If cash is no obstacle I would get the SD2SNES, when they're available. But the Super ED is sufficient for most gamers.  I agree that the load times are annoying.

Quote from: guest on 12/27/2012, 10:43 AMCheck this thread for a list of homebrew games (maybe half are hueys), look here for bonknuts's NES roms as hueys, or go here for various huey game translations (just the patch - you'll have to find an original rom elsewhere).
I found your links very useful!  Although still quite a few PCE-J games that still need translation.

Just got the Turbo Everdrive last week.  Great deluxe edition by Stone Age Gamer.

Definitely looking forward to hearing how this exchange took place (came from Tengen/Atari themselves?).  And how it contrasts with the NES and Genesis ports.

PS: Esteban, I can't imagine Pit Fighter for Turbo CD would have been any less a disaster than the SNES port.

Quote from: Deletion on 07/08/2012, 10:45 PMwww.seymoronion.com makes replacement vinyl sleeves for Hucards and has been planning to make new Hucard trays for jewel cases as well (Click on "Game Cases & Sleeves" on the left). Maybe if they partner up, the trays will finally go into production.
I saw his site on google, but had no idea how long it was sitting there unproduced.  I'll let them know, but I doubt it's enough to warrant production.  There's not much of a market for thousands of TG-16 jewel cases.

Anyone know if there's a source or sources?  Stone Age Gamer is contemplating a deluxe Turbo Everdrive, and he asking for a source.  Not sure how many he'd want, probably quite a bit, I think the Turbo ED will sell well.

Thanks.

Krikzz himself has an option for the USB installed for 15 bucks on his site (retrogate.com).  Stone Age Gamer does not.

Quote from: thesteve on 05/02/2012, 09:40 AMI think your a bit high on price.
I have 3 and dont need another.
try the rf with a different cable, it may not be the system
It's definitely the system.  The guy I got it from never actually used RF, which is ironic.  His came with the booster and always used that.
#24
I finally got a Turbo Booster locally, in a lot that included a system.  I'm looking to resell the system.  Includes a TurboPad and original AC Adapter.  The bad news is the RF output is not good at all, barely displays.  The console is fine with the booster, but obviously I'm keeping that.  Visual condition is excellent.  Any takers at $40.00 ?

can't the caps be further up the wire from the connection point, and remain within the back cover?

by the way, I've been snooping around ebay for one of those tennokoe 2 banks.  currently nothing in the states, just some beat up ones in France.

Hong Kong game doctor has one already modded for $30, not sure to trust them.

so you do have them, or no?

Quote from: HercTNT on 02/15/2012, 10:48 PMGreg, so i understand correctly is this picture what your trying to do?
Exactly that's it, as long as it would fit inside the cover.  I'd like something like that with like a 6 foot thin composite cable.  I say thin because I need it to fit through that small opening in the cover for the AC plug.  I've seen the instructions to alter a cable, but I am a disaster soldering.
#28
Well I'm not interested in doing anything with the motherboard.  I just want to plug into the audio and video out pins on the external port, and prefer to have it fit in place with the back cover still on.  Anyone know who would be interested making a cable for me?
#29
Hi all, I recently got a US TG-16.  You may recognize my name from other forums like Atari Age or Digital Press.  Anyway, I've seen the simple looking modification instructions to convert a standard composite av cable to connect to pins on the expansion port.  So my question is, is it possible to do so with say small right-angle connectors, so that the wires would fit in there with the standard TG back case cover on?  I know with it on, it's right flush on the exp port.  If the answer is yes, would anyone be willing to make a cable for me?  I am simply useless when it comes to soldering.  I'd prefer a thin AV/RCA cable, maybe a 6 footer, because I would want to run it through that small opening on the cover that the AC adapter plug goes through.
