That original thread was one of the sickest things I have ever read here on PCFX. I swear if it wasn't for this community I am not too sure I could face the dystopia that these shitty/terrible/awful/stinky/unclean/vile/petty/cruel/heartless cunt slurping resellers are trying to build. OK, guys here it is..  I am posting this here to let you guys know that this guy is just out to troll people.  Yes, me and Bernie had issues..  Those issues were resolved..  as many of you know this guy jumped in and started talking his shit.  People saw that he was just trolling while I was trying to explain what had happened in the deal.

Granted I am sure this info is around on the net in different places, but I think most of it covers the multi-bios that has the 3 regions on one chip. If you are only interested in US/JP or UK/JP region swap however, then this will get you where you need to be as far as Model 1 and Model 2 systems go. Whatever bios you use it will need to be byte swapped before being burned off.

If you don't have an eprom programmer capable of doing 40 pin chips you will have to find someone out there who can flash said eproms for you. A member here did it for me, but I am not sure if he is ok with tossing his name out there for this stuff. But if he wants to chime in I can confirm that he is 100 percent reliable concerning the chip/eprom service.

Concerning the actual mod, some people prefer on the model 2 to take the pussy way out and slap a socket over the original bios and just slather hot glue all over the back side and hope it all holds connection. I did not do this, instead opting to strip down a 40 wire ide cable and do a 40 wire solder job leading from the original bios solder joints to the pins on a 40 pin socket. However you plan to do it is up to you.

Also, as my understanding is people do this a lot by mistake. If you do this on a Model 2 on pin 20 of the original bios, rip it up off the pcb or destroy the solder contact from excessive burning on the pcb when trying to sever connection, don't lose hope. Just stop and take a breather.

Next take a close look around the bios. For sure on at least one revision of the pcb, on the top side of the pcb there is a trace that leads from said solder contact to under the bios on down to a via/through-hole nearby, so you can make a repair. It is possible they revised the placement or where this trace leads to on different revisions of the pcb, so just pull out that magnifying glass and led light and take a close look around.

As with most any trace repair due to similar damage where you don't actually need to repair/tin and relace the trace itself with copper/solder, you can take a couple of thin long threads out of a wire, twist them together tight and lace them completely with solder to make it hard, insert in the via on other end of trace that lead to damaged joint, and heat both ends. Then trim it down to make a new solid solder joint connection with the ability to solder on to it from either side of the pcb. After you solder your wire to this new joint, if you want to reinforce it you can cover the area with epoxy/enamel.

Ok, here is the deal. I have a pair of laser assemblies (laser and motors and whatever gears are present, etc). KSS-220a & KSS-162a. These were obtained around mid to late 2008 or so I believe. The KSS-220a is in a Discman I gutted years back after testing to make sure the laser worked. The insides were just dead weight to me and so out they went. I just kept the laser assembly in the Discmans shell still to protect it.

The  KSS-162a is from a Nec CD-Rom drive similar to the Turbo CD one, but it was light grey/white'ish. This is the drive it originates from:






I had 3 or 4 of these drives back in the day, all in great shape, and used one of their parts, the shell mainly, and combined it with the inner parts of the TG-CD discman (black laser assembly, circuit board, buttons) to make a black/white/grey drive to go in a briefcase unit seen here:







Anyway, long story short, drives not used for parts were sold off so others could keep their Turbo/PCE Cd's going, and I sold the briefcase system long ago too. I stored the KSS-162a from the white cd drive inside the black Turbo-cd drives shell so it would not get damaged. The laser worked fine when I tested it prior to this project, I just did not need to use it as the Turbo CD's laser that was used in the project was also in great shape.

Anyway, this KSS-162a I am offering here has all 3 of its gears. The middle gear is removed and wrapped in plastic and taped inside the shell. I forget why I did this, but I think it was to make it easier to re-grease if the time ever came to use the thing to re-assemble a drive for someone.

Since that project was done years back these things have been stored in a box taking up space for  along time. They have been in the same small box for what I think is going on 6 years now, and after two moves and having to reorganize my pc /console parts area I think it's time to finally let these go, as I have zero intention of buying a PCE CD or TG-CD again and honestly I am tired of having to take them every time I move knowing I have no use for them. That and I keep forgetting I have them until I do a parts assessment every year or two.

Now the disclaimer. As stated, these things have been stored carefully in a box (sideways to boot, as it prevents gravity from stressing the laser during storage), and have seen no use since they were tested prior years back. In their current state I have no way to test them at all to make sure they have not suffered during their long storage (both these lasers are over 24 years old now, as the KSS-162a came from a drive manufactured in 89, and the Discman containing the KSS-220a was manufactured in 1990).

Due to that I would prefer that whomever wants to make an offer be aware that while highly unlikely, these may have developed issues I would be unaware of. I don't usually offer up anything I can not test, which is why I did not post these prior, but at this point I'd rather see them off to someone who is willing to take a chance, as opposed to just tucking them away for years more. If nothing else the black TG-CD shell, along with the gears and motors can still be used for a restoration project if the lasers can not. The TG-CD shell is still in fairly good condition, so that would be good for swapping out on one with a lot of scratches and wear.

Funny thing is, I have never had issues with my EverDrive.  I use a rom set that I went through and divided up by region/hacks/translations, and have never once had the TE lock up my system.  However, others have had issues with roms they had, that did just that.  Fixing it was as easy as directing them to my set. 

I guess the system should be tested with a real Huey to see what it does.  Then just go from there.

Can we make arrangements for me to get that ROM set or at least the ROM for Air Zonk so I can get it over to LaC? I'll send you a PM or if for some reason I can't,  my email is my user name on this site @gmail.com

Well said Bernie.  I never had an issue with this system when using it with real hucards never did test it with a TED (since I barely got it).  Friend of sonic said he played the system when he got it for like 15 mins with a TED and didn't see any problems.  I when I got my TED I tried some old roms I had for years on my pc and most didn't work so I when to the isozone and for their set and everything worked fine.  So please have LaC 1.  Use a regular hucards, 2.  Try tapping power from the 7805 for the region mod switch and 3. Get a well known working rom set for the TED and have him report back..

Funny guys..  I'd like to inform you that all issues have been taken care of.  Bernie and I have squashed our disagreement.  It was never about money as people in the other thread kept saying.  Things got blown out of proportions.

I've heard that applying heat with a hair dryer will reflow the tiny internal solder points which have likely developed micro fissures.  People have had good results positioning the hairdryer in such a way that it can be left unattended.  10 minutes or so should do the trick.

Thanks Nulltard, I will try that..  I know this is only a $4 game but still if I can fix it and find a home for it for someone that needs it, why not.
I will post results after I get a chance to do it.

LOL, what a twisted triangle. We have the original seller and now the buyer checking in in these last two posts. I'm not intending on taking sides, but I'll be curious to find out what the solution is. For the record, my TED never crashed in my Turbo Grafx, but I also never tested the Air Zonk ROM so I don't know *shrugs*

I *think* the romset I downloaded was indicated to be Everdrive friendly-- not that means anything at the end of the day since people make mistakes and a bad rom may not have been discovered.

I am a layman but would a bad ROM cause garbled graphics (and still run)? In my experience,  ROMs immediately lock up and never really run. I'm also not sure why he would get inconsistent results with running the ROM. Could still point to a hardware failure with the TED I guess,  but that still brings me back to the point of how I didn't have issue with my TG.

Indeed, as I've told you in our emails back and forth I never had a problem with the system locking up.  I used original HuCards and not a TED since I recently got that.  When I opened the system to mod it, there were no leaky or blown caps.  Perhaps the TED is just drawing too much power from the system making it overheat/lock up ?  I know that I tapped in to the +5 from the card slot for the region mod chip.  Maybe before attempting to re-cap the system and charge you for his work, LaC can tap in to the power from the regulator instead of from the card slot to see if perhaps that fixes the issue.

Sure, I have no shame in my game.  I buy, mod and resell, that allows me to buy the games and stuff I want in my collection..  with the prices the way they are you need to be able to afford what people are selling the items for.
I love the tg-16/pc-engine and I am glad I am in this forum.  If I can provide a service that people will love at a reasonable price and get the games and stuff I want to get while doing it, why not..
As you put it, you also sell stuff and sell stuff for other people so what's wrong with being a reseller...  If you look at the prices of the items I have bought and look at how much I sell them for they are well wroth the price of the mod and clean up that I do to them.

I would have had no problem if you were a "simple" reseller. I have no problem with resellers in general. Most tend to have a code and stay honest, and many have done this community a great service over the years, by passing savings and services on to this forum amongst others. No one here is denying or making excuses for Bernie being a late shipper. Regardless of that though he did eat shipping cost and honor the sale. So far he is still in an honorable light.

Don't know if you were reading the entire thing but yes a lot of stuff..  the tg-16 with the dock rgb mod..  and my white cd-rom2 system that he is giving me the money i paid for.  he was going to refund me the money I said for the system and $40 additional to cover my mod and cd-rom2..  plus my nephew is not a young kid, hes 28, a gamer and knows what things cost.  Also through out the years I have given them more than my share of systems/games..

Sure, I have no shame in my game.  I buy, mod and resell, that allows me to buy the games and stuff I want in my collection..  with the prices the way they are you need to be able to afford what people are selling the items for.
I love the tg-16/pc-engine and I am glad I am in this forum.  If I can provide a service that people will love at a reasonable price and get the games and stuff I want to get while doing it, why not..
As you put it, you also sell stuff and sell stuff for other people so what's wrong with being a reseller...  If you look at the prices of the items I have bought and look at how much I sell them for they are well wroth the price of the mod and clean up that I do to them.

You can believe me or choose not to.  The items I sell ship out with in 1-2 days..  why?  I mod them and have them package and ready before i put them up on ebay..  I would think that is the smart way to do it, as the item sells.  You will have a chance to ship it out as it is already to go.

I do mod work, I buy items, mod them and resell them.
He wanted the tg-16 with the cd attachment, I was going to give him one of my white cd-roms2 for it until he was able to get a tg-16 one.
tg-16 will not go on an Interface unit and vice versa..
I got a tg-16 but no cd-attachment..
anyways believe what you want to believe.  the truth is out there.

Lets face it, you are full of shit. There never was any nephew. You could pay and ship it insured. It would get delivered, or you'd be refunded by USPS if it was lost.  I know this, you know this, and everyone else here knows this.  Just as well as shipping it to Mexico, you could hold on to it for him until he visits again. Save it as a birthday or xmas gift or whatever, But again, existence of said nephew is doubtful. The odds of you being some kind of wanna be modder/reseller for profit scum though, now those odds seem to be high.

I did not know about the "extra shipping cost" until today.  mind this is been 2 and a half weeks in the making..  If he would have said i need more money for shipping then I would have either forget about it or have given him the extra cost depending on what my nephew wanted to do.  But that never happened.
Look, I don't know what else to tell you, I was trying to take care of this in private with Bernie but he decided to make this public by opening up this thread.  And as you said it..  people that don't speak up and do things behind people's backs and are too afraid to air the grievances, work things out, have no damned spines.

I cant count how many times new people around here have said that same old crap when they get into a conflict with an established member here. "Oh but I had countless members pm me complaining too". Yet said members never step forward to confirm and validate these supposed complaints. Yeah, sure. That's basically insinuating that we have countless people here with no god damned spine, too afraid to air the grievance and work it out. That is not how things really play out here. Now now, considering you have been registered since March 15, 2014, you should have known who Bernie is early on. Per your own admittance, you became paranoid another buyer would grab it via BIN, so you rushed to buy it without securing a shipping deadline prior. Now, I am not stating this excuses Bernies late shipping, that is on him, but as stated prior, this is a bad habit in general when you have a dead line. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS CONTACT PRIOR TO BUYING to secure a date. If the seller states they cant make it, don't buy then. Simple as fucking that.

In between your griping and public displays of denial, do us a favor and inbetween what ever future rants you plan to post, ponder on the small fact that you got a $15-20 discount on shipping cost, even if it wasn't a method you preferred, and that Bernie, knowing he was being raped on ebays auto shipping cost policy, did the honorable thing anyway and ate the cost and shipped the item out.

Doesn't matter at this point, and for what its worth the odds are even if he used parcel select he paid way more to ship it to you then you paid for shipping anyway, due to actual weight and distance. He could have requested more to cover shipping cost, or backed out of the sale due to shipping quote error and ate the negative feedback you'd have left him, but he didn't.

 And it seems you knew he was a member here. After no contact within 24 hours you could have contacted him here as well to let him know you were under a deadline, then he could explain he would not be able to meet said dead line, and you could be refunded.

I only knew he was a member a week and a half later when he told me he was since I was emailing him trying to see if he shipped the item..  He said I am a member and my id is..

At this point this is your option, when it arrives you can choose to keep said item, mod and resell it on ebay, or return it to Bernie. Whatever feedback you choose to leave is up to you. Either way you are ignoring the fact that on anything you purchase, if you need it for a dead line you need to contact the seller prior to purchasing it to make sure they can deliver in your required time frame.

Most modders and computer system builders know this by heart, that it is a must to do this when they have a project dead line. Feigning ignorance to that fact alone is going to earn you a ignore and a spot on a black list from modders and sellers here on this forum.

Not prior as I wanted to get the system before someone else did the buy it now from ebay, but I did contact him and told him the reason why I kept "bugging" him if he had shipped the item and told him the reason why I needed this asap.  He assured me on 2 different occasions the he would ship on certain days and he did not.

And also, Bernie, please give me this guys ebay id, via here or pm, so I can add him to my black list. Thanks in advance (You are allowed to share his ebay id publicly on forums, it wont violate ebay seller policy, you just cant post his name and address).

I have been sent PM's by other members stating that he has done this to them as well.  I have nothing against you or Bernie but if you consider this normal, that someone would take a week and a half to ship something.  Then I would rather not deal with someone like that.  I do not want to make deals with someone that promises something and doesn't deliver.

The item was bought and paid for April 8th the item has not arrived and it is scheduled to arrive Friday that is is 1 day shy of 3 weeks..  He did not ship priority and took a week and a half before he shipped it..   If he would have shipped priority I would have got it in time even if he took a week and a half to ship.

I sold an extra system with CD attachment I had bought on eBay (just so I could have an extra CD unit).  It came with everything, including the US 3.0 system card.  I gave the 3.0 card to Old Rover, kept the CD Rom2, and sold the rest on eBay.  Now, we all know eBay and their weird shipping quotes.  It would not allow me to select more than 15 bucks.  It ended up costing me 30 bucks to ship it standard post, as Priority would have been 63 bucks.  ( This came with the clamshell case too, and it went all the way to CA )  I work a new job, and i was not able to get it out in a timely manner, so the buyer is upset now.  If he decides to return it for a refund, is anyone here interested in it?  I will not be relisting this on the bay due to  the issues I just had.  I knew I shouldn't have taken it to the bay.  But it is what it is.  I am sure I will end up with a negative now, screwing up my 100% feedback..  ugh...  The buyer is totally not being understanding, even though I kept him as informed as possible as to why I wasnt able to get it out as fast as I would have liked.  Lesson learned I guess.

Bernie, cry me a river dude.  I can put our conversation here from the very start so that everyone can see exactly what happened.  I emailed you and didn't get anything back for 3 days.  As I told you I will not leave you a negative feedback, however you are in the wrong.  It took you a week and a half before you even shipped the item and you shipped as standard shipping, not as listed in the ebay auction as priority mail.  I needed this for someone that was here visiting from Mexico.  I bought it and they were going to pay me back for the item and were going to give me $40 to add rgb to it.
But anyhow, don't worry I will not give you a negative feedback but I want you to admit that you are in the wrong here.
