I love this thread! Very cool stuff.
RIP to BT Garner of MindRec.com... BT passed away early 2023 from health problems. He was one of the top PCE homebrew developers and founder of the OG Turbo List, then PCECP.com. Condolences to family and friends. |

You know what's funny, though? I got accused of ripping-off the Angry Nerd in MY very early Turbo Views episode showcasing "Darkwing Duck" (because I was mad at the game). I am sorry but ... I was definitely angrier than AVGN! And I beat the damn game for the video as well! Ha ha! ;)

Quote from: cr8zykuban0 on 03/02/2015, 02:12 PMyeah I guess a lot of it has to do with nostalgia. There was a time when I wanted a full snes set. Got to around 200 and realized I didnt want to play most of the crap staring at me from the shelf. I reduced it down to about 40 carts and was instantly happier.Quote from: BlueBMW on 03/02/2015, 01:24 PMI <3 the N64 so I say congrats mansame here man. im a big n64 lover too!Quote from: CAPSLOCK on 03/02/2015, 01:56 PMnice job! Too bad N64 has about 5 games that are playable. I don't understand why people need to have a complete library. I love the original Game Boy but there is no reason for me to buy Amazing Spiderman.for me, the n64 has a lot of playable games and classics. i understand some people dont like it but i grew up playing it so there are a good amount of great games. i wouldn't go for a complete library but games i enjoy
Quote from: VenomMacbeth on 02/24/2015, 11:11 AMYeah I'm the same way, feel pretty fortunate that my lady doesn't mind me constantly playing games, watching videos online etc. I'm sure it gets pretty annoying to someone who isn't in the hobby but she enjoys some of the main stream shit she grew up with mostly anything gameboy or donkey kong country, mario etc. which is better than nothing I guess.Quote from: CAPSLOCK on 02/24/2015, 07:29 AMMy wife plays games when she hears a familiar tune or sees me having fun and realizes she wants to play, but doesn't generally pick it up herself. My lady is quite the same way. She doesn't want anything to do with my games until she sees me having fun with a game that isn't a shoot em up (as those drive her CRAZY), and then she'll proceed to steal my controller & ruin my progress. I really don't mind, though; I'm just elated that ANYONE would voluntarily pick up some of these games, other than me, as I constantly feel special-Ed talking about nothing but retro games to friends & getting glazed "y u no destiny/call of duty/GTA?" looks.
Quote from: guest on 02/23/2015, 04:45 PMI remember a few beverages that're gone (Surge, Crystal Pepsi, Zima, Orbitz, etc.), but I can't say I miss any of them.I was going to say Orbitz, they were hugely popular for a very short time where I grew up.
For food stuffs, I miss Necco wafers and Clove/Blackjack/Beemans gum; they're still made, but I generally don't buy food online or visit hipster candy stores. I also miss the old chili cheese burritos from Taco Bell; you can still get 'em, but I think the chili is a bit different nowadays and no fritos.
