That's all fine if I understood what it means.  In the notepad it's set to 3 right now.  Not sure what the 3 equals.  Can I just use 0 to make it unlimited?
No, I believe it's the number of seconds difference between the original track length and the new one.

I didn't mean that you included something from the Mega Man 5 title screen song; I just wanted to show you that remix because it's one of my favorites, haha. What I meant was that you did actually use the stage select from NES Mega Man 5 in your stage select mix. Check it out; it's where they got the Mega Man Soccer song from:

The CD_BIOS has a few ways of playing audio tracks.
The first involves playing by a track number (0-99). To do that, the track number has to be converted to an absolute disc adddress.
The second is actually by absolute disc address (since the routine is already available, see above).

Some games use method one; other games use method two. It depends on what the programmers decided when laying out the cd image.
Thanks. So is there any way of getting around this when it wants the tracks to have a certain length?

Yeah this is good stuff man. I like the Mega Man 5 in the stage select, Mega Man X mixes, etc. Glad to finally hear it because I remember how you were always talking about it, haha. Are you selling it? When it's all released, I definitely need to make me a copy of Mega Man CD with it.

Nice. I don't understand why some games need you to do this and others don't. For example, I took tracks from Lords of Thunder and replaced every song in Sapphire. I also took tracks from Gate of Thunder and replaced every song in Sapphire with those too. Never had to worry about this shit.

Yeah, the Perfect Arrangement tracks are the same length as the originals.

I'm going to try and DL the original game file and try changing some of the music and see what happens.  If I get the same results, I'll try matching track times.  What I don't understand is why all the music tracks aren't listed for the game.  Like the pre-boss room music is awful but it's not a music file.
Sounds good.

The pre-boss room music isn't redbook or from a WAV file; it's a chiptune, PSG. Yeah, I don't like it either. It's an odd choice because it definitely stands out from the other tracks.

You have to open the cue file with Notepad.

Like I said though,  I'll try to figure it out and I'll upload it for you if I can. I have the perfect arrangement version. What track do you want to use as a replacement? The original menu music? Which track number is it?

Well since you have to select the folder your game files are in, it uses that one; it doesn't put the cue in a different folder. To be safe just remove the cue file from that folder and have it generate a new one.

It couldn't be easier to use. The instructions are literally built in to the program. Download it, run it, and follow the directions. Select "Akumajou Dracula X - Chi no Rondo (J)", click browse and select your game's folder, then click repair. That's it.

Dragon nailed it.  Music plays on the wrong levels, or starts in the middle of the track, or cuts off and starts playing something else.

For Rondo of Blood, I have all the music files in WAV format separate.  Then there are two ISO files, a TOC file and the CUE file.  I tried to take a music file, change it to WAV and rename it exactly the same as the one I was replacing.  It didn't work.  I only did this for one music file and yet it messed up all the music in the game.  I figured it would have been a simple renaming the new file with the old file name.  Guess not that simple.
Did you use TocFixer?

Okay, well I don't know how you're doing it exactly. Let me explain, if the image is in BIN/CUE format, I use IsoBuster to open the CUE file and right click on "session 1" and select "extract session one" then "extract user data" in order to convert the image to ISO/WAV format. Then of course you replace the file you want to change and rename the new 16 bit 44.1 kHz WAV file to match the old one. Now you need a new CUE sheet so use TocFixer to quickly generate one: https://www.ysutopia.net/index.php?ind=downloads&op=entry_view&iden=4 That's it.

Now if you want to convert it back to BIN/CUE then mount the CUE on virtual drive e.g. daemon tools
then open IMGburn, select create image file from disc. select virtual drive for source. make sure destination is set to BIN file type.

It definitely has to be WAV. Yes, all you do is change the name of your new file to match the filename of the file you want to replace. I never had to worry about the length of the tracks so I guess I just got lucky. One more thing, and I bet this is your problem, when you convert your MP3 or whatever to WAV, the WAV file has to be set to 16 bit PCM and 44.1 kHz (44100 Hz) or it won't work. I use Audacity to convert my files.

The RX, Mega Drive, MkIII and SCV where running RGB. The 7800 and SFC was s-vid, rest was composite. Rob forgot the BNC<->SCART connector for his SFC, but it would have been RGB.

Nice pictures. Loved seeing the Shuttle, SuperGrafx, CoreGrafx, etc. I think I need one of those Shuttle pads. Were all those RGB scart? What about the Genesis? It was great seeing Bloodlines on that monitor.

Do you know about Bit Brigade? I'd recommend you check them out. Definitely a unique experience with the live speedrunning and the band playing along to what the player does.

Hey so I was talking to this guy who was helping at the museum and I forgot to get his info/Facebook. I was talking to him about calibrating my CRT TV. He had long black hair and said he lives in VA. He was going to calibrate my TV if I couldn't find anyone closer to where I live. Does anyone know who he is?

My favorite bands were: Bit Brigade, where they did Castlevania, Batman, and Ducktales., Super Guitar Bros, Knight of the Round, and then everything else at the show on Friday called Mag Underground.

Yeah, I think they have one now for Chrono Trigger that includes new music and the cutscenes from the PSX version.

There are MSU-1 versions of X and X2 as well. I've uploaded two different versions of X, each with a different soundtrack. There are also two versions of X2, one in the same style of the X3 soundtrack above, and one with the soundtrack imitating the sound of a Sega Genesis. Hey I figured that I'd throw this into the thread too: There are also a couple mods for Mega Man X that I like. One increases the difficulty by changing stats and AI. Mega Man X3 Zero Project. Play as Zero throughout the entire game plus other enhancements.

Gameplay features:
-Zero is fully playable in stages that he CAN be played in. (IE: Can't switch to him in introduction, but he can be usable anywhere else).
-Zero can use all sub-weapons at the cost of double usage.
-Zero can refill energy tanks and weapons.
-Zero can obtain capsules, heart tanks, energy tanks and ride armor chips, though, Zero may not receive all benefits of the capsules.
-Zero has a 'Black Armor' in the Golden Armor capsule.
-Zero's Z-Sabre animation is much quicker in the air and on the ground.
-Inserted the unused buster frames of Zero for smoother transitions.
-Zero can now charge up all weapons and have his own animations with them.
-Zero CANNOT use the Hyper Chip
-X's buster animations have been hastened in air and ground.
-X's Z-Sabre animation is slightly faster.
-X's vertical dash animation is slightly quicker.
-You can switch characters on the stage select screen WITH an icon change by pressing a button on the 'X' icon.
-X and Zero are swapped in events. Unfortunately, X does not show his armors in them even if he has them. (Hard bug to work around).
-X and Zero each have their own banks of text that allow full customization of dialogue if so desired.
-Frost Shield launches quicker.
-Tornado Drill launches quicker.
-Triad Thunder's charged animation is much, much faster with a new sound to feel more impactful. -Screen shaking doesn't begin UNTIL you punch the ground.
-Energy tanks do NOT drain entirely if you use it to restore a little health. It restores what's needed, that is all.
-Zero can use Ride Armors with his own set of sprites.
-Z-Sabre has been heavily nerfed to compensate for Zero being playable.
-Golden Armor/Black Armor can be saved into the password system now.
-Air Dash/Vertical Dash code has been revised heavily. No longer does it check specific animation sequences, rather, it uses a 'fixed' number to set the amount of jumps you can do.
-Capsules no longer show armor pieces being placed onto the character. This caused SEVERE bugs throughout the game.
-Capsules now repeat their lightning wrap around animation three times to compensate for the flash feature being removed.
-X and Zero have their own section now for animation data, VRAM data and sprite assembly relating to them which allows full customization and plenty of spare room for new animations and sprites.
-You can Buster and Z-Sabre combo instantly with Zero only.
-You can chain charged buster shots on bosses instead of having to wait for the flash to go away to perform another attack. Ride Armor bosses are an exception.
-If you're already in the air with Zero, pressing jump again will allow you to double jump if you have the corresponding upgrade.

Now with MSU-1 compatibility. Here's the MSU-1 soundtrack:
For the SD2SNES or if you want to play it on an emulator. Google "epforums mega man x3 zero project msu-1" to find the MSU-1 version for use on the SD2SNES. MSU-1 version only works on bsnes or higan emulators.

Anybody have a SD2SNES? This is one of my favorite things to play on it.

Can't wait to hear your work. I was the one amplifying the soundtracks after I saw SamIAm's post about it. :)

If you're interested, here is a clipper plugin for mastering. It's transparent and doesn't cause distortion. It can be used to increase loudness without using compression and of course you shouldn't lose any dynamic range. It's brand new and there's a free trial. I'm a guitar player and I found out about it because it's made by the same people who make the amp simulator I use. http://kazrog.com/products/kclip/

This is not like a Windows Computer, where you can fix everything with just having your hardware running faster.
I think, the gameplay speed on most consoles is depandant on the system's clock speed. Just like in those very, very old DOS games, where some of them ran faster overall up to an unbearable speed on modern machines, thus those old PCs had the "Turbo" button to halve the clock speed manually.
I saw this video of an overclocked console reduce the lag in Sonic and I figured it could work for Mega Man.

Brand new Mega Man X, X2, X3 MSU1 uploads!

I don't know if anyone here is into the MSU1, but I love it. Just got myself a SD2SNES and I'm going nuts with adding custom soundtracks. For example, I just found great soundtracks for MMX2 and X3 by this guy on youtube who remade the music to sound like they would on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.

Also, here is the channel with the other rock/metal soundtracks that I used for X2 and X3. For those who didn't see my older thread--he also did the original NES Mega Man soundtrack and I put it into NES2PCE Mega Man CD.

Yeah and if you didn't know--Maria has the special move (up, down, down-forward, forward, attack) for when you get pissed off, lol. It takes like half the boss's health in one shot. Kills virtually everything else. She also has the slide (down then jump) and the roll (down-forward and jump).

Richter has a few weird extra controls too. If you hold the jump button while jumping, you can control him and turn around in the air (like Mario for example). Also if you press forward (double tap forward?) after attacking, you extend the whip's range a little. Don't forget that can attack in the middle of his back flip animation too.

Holy crap again--I did that (the Maria special move) by accident a bit ago, just came here to ask about it, and you've already explained it! Thanks for the tips on Richter as well, I'm going to try to get through more of the levels with him now.

I'm at 96%. Is there any way to tell specifically what I missed on the map screen? I got all four prisoners. I'm assuming I missed an exit, regular or special, somehow. I'd rather not have to try them all again.  :(

But if so oh well, there's worse things than having to play an awesome game some more!   :D
Haha, nice.

No you can't tell on the map screen. My first guess is usually stage 5' that isn't beaten. You have to kill Dracula and then go back to 4 or 4' and take the alternate route to unlock it.

Yeah, that Yellow Devil is a pain. Go play Mega Man 3 and get revenge on him; he's much easier when you can slide. I stopped playing Mega Man X5 when I got to him too. Although I should have stopped playing that game well before then; I think X4 is the last good Mega Man.  :lol:
Playing on a Duo R RGB to Framemeister to Vizio LCD. Hopefully, others will pitch in with the same experience or suggestions for a fix. Tonight I played around with the channel volumes in the options menu, but again, it did not seem to make a difference.

Oh, and I've beaten the yellow bastard many times in the NES version, I just have not played this game in years and frankly don't have the patience anymore to memorize the pattern and then execute the jumps with pinpoint precision. IMO, the original Mega Man is one of the most perfect action platformers, until you get to that sob.

MM 9 and 10 are pretty good, and I found Mega Man Zero 3 and 4 to be great as well.
Oh I know how to fix it; I'm the one who put this music into the game and set its volume, haha. I'm just not sure if I want to fix it because I like it loud. That should be enough--but if that's not enough or too much, you can always keep experimenting and changing it until you're happy.

So is the first Mega Man your favorite one?

I haven't checked out 9 or 10 because I don't have a Wii, 360, or PS3. I've heard good things about those and the Zero games. Have you played the ZX games?

As long as you're not linking the actual ROM, you're good with posting that link here. An update patch is also fine to link to.
I do have the ROMs included. I uploaded the games all put together to make it easier for people to play them. Also, I get less messages from people asking how to run them (specifically the MSU-1 stuff), hah. On that ROM site, I have a link to my uploads in my sig and you can also look at my profile to find them.

UNRELATED QUESTION: Can you minimize the "hiss" present (left channel) in the first stage music in Valis II? The hiss is found on both JP and NA versions (back in the day, I hoped it was just a mastering error in the NA release...)

I love it; I don't see how it could be any better or more faithful to the original. At least check out Wily 2 at 18:19. :)

Mega Man with an awesome rock/metal CD soundtrack for the PC Engine/Turbografx CD! This can be played on real hardware or with an emulator.

This is one of the coolest things ever. I recently discovered Krzysztof's music and instantly realized that this needed to be added to Tom's work. Enjoy!

You guys know that, unlike the NES games, you can jump onto the stairs, right? Jump and hold up to hop onto them from anywhere. You don't have to climb them all starting from the bottom. Jump on AND off of them! Not like the NES games at all.

Another hint: Master the backflip. Backflip over everything. Good luck beating Dullahan without backflipping over the flying head, haha. You can also attack in the air in the middle of the backflip.
