I bought a DVD/VCR for my parents cause they wanted one. They still record stuff off of the t.v with the VCR and they won't spring for Tivo. I've got some stuff on VHS that's out of print, so I might need to pick up a spare VCR just so I have one.

People who live in shantys dunno you got me on that.I haven't even mess with a vcr since 2000 just been sticking to dvd.Heck i'm still trying to get rid of what i have left on vhs.Though by now i though it was dead for the stand alone players,all i see now are the combo decks.

bingo. back in the days, before i said bye to my VCR, i digitized some of my VHS tapes (mostly music related things or very rare to get uncuted fliks like a unofficial predator release) and put them on a DVD.
