@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Here are some ramblings from a hopeless Snerd commenting on one of my youtube videos-

Quote...the best graphics and sounds of the 16 bit era belong to the Snes.
QuoteImagine Final Fantasy III on the Turbograpx....would the color schemes of Bonk work well with the atmosphere?
QuoteThe megadrive in my opnion didn't use its full potentials very well. I doubt other than sports games (which most sadly do not age well) and then the only games that really showed off its processor speed was the sonic series. Others did to a lesser degree, but those that did show weren't much more than average games...the games that you mention are fairly decent, but not legendary.
QuoteSonic three may be faster than Yoshi's Island, but, stop frame both games and compare the screenshots...you'll see a HUGE difference in color and presentation.
QuoteRemember the processor means nothinn once you hit the prerender years...Donkey Kong, and onward would be the benchmark...then, SNES just blew away, because it didn't rely on processor speed, but on the raw power of the system. PCengine and the Megadrive could not do what the snes did at its best if they tried: Chrono, Yoshi's Island, etc. What the snes fell behind in was more than made up for with its incredible strengths. A processor is like this: its not how much you have, but how you use it.
QuotePlug in the Jaguar versions of Doom and Sega 32x versions, and compare the music to the Sens version...the difference will blow you away in quality drops.
QuoteHere's a good example...the Snes is like a ford f350 super duty, while the PCengine and genesis are like pontiac Sunfire and Grand Prix. In a short dash, the Snes would not win...but...what about in the long run? Or as a performance machine as a whole? You can't pull 5 tons with a sunfire.
In response to comparing the PCE & SFC Neo Geo ports-

QuoteThe neo geo is a whole otehr argumant. It was something different and used a completely different method in its game architectures.
Both the snes and genesis would need remodeling in order to present the games the NG did.
In response to CD games having better sound than SNES games-

QuoteFew times have they proved this. Is there any soundtracks out there that are as legendary or as well-known as Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy III? OR Actraiser?
So far, I've seen few examples that beat the Snes best efforts. They must not have tried hard enough.
QuoteThe ebst sounds and graphics on the standalone Snes beat all the graphics and soundtracks off the Turbo/CD anyday. Only a few games come close.
Proof of knowing the Turbo/PCE library inside out-

QuoteThe standalone turbographics 16 without the cd addon did not impress me with its capabilities save soem of tis shooters...the most being Blazing Lazers.
The Turbo Cd had some great games though...Lords of Thunder for the TG Cd is better than the Sega Cd version, which surprised me. And of course, Dracula X, and the Supergraphics version of Ghouls and Ghouls/Ghost and Goblins.
Bonus N64 fanboy comment-

QuoteThe 64 was worlds more powerful than the PS1, but, couldn't ever truly establish it other than a few games to show off its true prowess (Conker/Banjo Tooie, Turok 3), and even then it wasn't much as far as potential maxim goes.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! CrackTiger you just really need to give up and admit that the SNES is the best.  Not only does it have better music and sound quality than the TurboGraffix CD but it has better video and sound than the PS3 or Blu-ray as well.  Sure, the SNES may lose in the short dash, but not the long haul.  That's right, the SNES may take 3 years to fully process all of the code that exists in level 1 of Air Zonk, but it can do it and without any errors, too!  I just can't imagine Final Fantasy or Uniracers or Ken Griffy Jr Baseball with the Bonk color scheme can you imagine how horrible that would be!  I know it would be horrible because Bonk represents the ONLY colors that the Tubbograpicks can do.

You can't argue with gems like:

Because we all know that power makes an awesome console and games. Forget the stuff like gameplay, level design, atmosphere, controls, and the fun factor of the games on a system, that stuff isn't important at all.

By this argument the saturn should have TROUNCED the psx and n64 both in terms of power and potential.

SNES was a damn good system, but nothing can be the best of everything.

I wish Nintendo would've given the green light to the SNES CD-ROM, equipped with a fast processor.  =P~
I wish Sega equipped their CD add-on with a better color palette -- the 32x-spec should've been built in from the get-go. =P~ (...and concentrated on REAL games as opposed to FMV crap)
I wish NEC would've added SuperGrafx capabilities to the Duo. =P~

Now, I know there are practical reasons for not doing some of these, but only if...  =P~

I believe that it was EGM that said in a review that Dracula XX SNES had better music than Dracula X PCE. Which actually plays into my explanation I gave him that legendary-ness/well-known-ness is just popularity and magazine perpetuated myth, which is separate from quality.

Indeed; it's greater than any SNES shooter ever, anyway.  I also find it humorous how he believes that Yoshi's Island proves the supreme power of the SNES, seemingly oblivious to the fact that it relies on a FX chip for its fancy effects.

Now you sound like a fan boy; you may not care for the game, but that doesn't negate all of its technical merit.  The graphics may look like they were drawn with colored pencils, but they're still far more colorful than the NES could ever muster, not to mention the various layering effects and sprite scaling/stretching.

No, I am just saying, visually, the NES could achieve a similar atmopshere, albeit without some of the flashythings like mode7, giant sprite bosses, and parallax/whatnot.

Im talking strictly color wise.  its not detailed heavily shaded and done up art.  Its flat cartoony..

Ah, fan boys...the biggest obstacle to objective thinking in gaming. All three systems (Genesis, PCE, and SNES), have unique qualities and great games that take advantage of them, so I've never understood fan boy arguments. What makes this even more hilarious is the fact that these weirdos still feel some strange need to justify a purchase they made in 1992. It's sad that some gamers are still having the same fights they had when they were six. These consoles can, for the most part, be found for a fraction of their original cost now, so why people feel this intense need to support their original decision that they made two decades ago is beyond me.

My first system was a Sega Genesis, and even when I was a kid, I was intrigued by the games of the SNES. I wanted the best of both worlds, and eventually, I did get a SNES. Even though the Genesis is still my favorite, you don't see me trashing the SNES or PCE because of it.

One of the most hilarious things I've seen in the past few years was when Pier Solar came out for the Genesis, and all of a sudden, all the Nintendo fan boys who mocked the Genesis for (supposedly) not having any good RPGs were incredibly offended. It was like, "How dare they! How DARE they make an awesome RPG for Sega! HOW DARE THEY make our bullshit argument look even more stupid!" People actually complained and asked about a SNES version! Just go to eBay and buy a Genesis for $20-30, you jackasses. :P

Anyway, I find the Android vs. iOS debate today is like re-living the 16-bit console wars of our youth.

Except... we have armies of adults participating in the debate today, whereas the 16-bit battles were primarily fought by kids.

RegalSin, is that you?

:)

Back in the old internet days, RealAudio had an insanely pervasive reach over audio files (and later, streaming) on websites. Major media and fan sites alike adopted RA's format. I remember a lot of performance issues, and being frustrated that I (we) were locked into RA (since companies had invested in it, all their archives and media were in proprietary format).

Even after it was clear that RA was "dead", we were stuck with legacy files for years and years (sites did not care or did not have time & money to convert media to other formats).

So, RA persisted, like untreated athlete's foot. HORRIBLE.
