Ok; Which Ys, then state your platform and why. I originally wanted this to just be Turbo, but that's impossible.

Then I found this:

List edited to reflect current Ys Games.  8)

nat

Ys 3 on the Turbo. Best music out of all of the Turbo entries, and I prefer the gameplay over that of 1, 2, and 4. It's a bit on the short side, but who cares? Great game.

Ys 4 for the PC Engine Duo really changed my perception on the system, so It gets my vote!

Interesting. This explains you recommending Xanadu so strongly.

I pretty much hate Y's III, but I do have the arranged soundtrack because it is indeed very cool.

I voted for Y's 1&2 (TG-16), although it was a tough choice between it and IV (PCE). One I think I know for sure is that I hate any of the ones where you actually have to swing your sword. That DS remake was a huge and ugly disappointment.

FYI, there are a few games missing from here, although I'm sure that all of the ones people will actually vote for are on the list already.

Ok. If anyone protests or posts and wants me to add an extra game, I will.

No contest -- 1 & 2.  3 was okay, and 4 just wasn't fresh enough.

TR0N

Ys 1&2>Ys IV while III was ok i thought it could have been more.

i don't think those are all PCE titles. wouldn't it make sense to shift it over to OT Console talk? :)

What kind of dumb list lumps Turbo 1&2 with the MSX, SMS, etc versions?

Anyways, I was going to vote for Oath in Felghana but it wasn't there.  So then, since I refuse to cast a vote that could be misinterpreted as support for the crappy MSX version, I was going to vote for Ys Seven.... but it wasn't there either.

But at least Ys Online (which NO ONE cares about) is listed!  Booyah!

Ok, that counts as a protest

I've added Oath in Felghana, and put in a separate option for the MSX, SMS, etc version of Ys 1.

Thanks for the corrections.

Thanks for updating the list.  Here I come hollering like a douche, and you respond like a cool dude.  Thanks again.

I voted for Ys The Call of Solum.

No Problem  Gotta keep it accurate.

I was going to vote the PC remake of 1/2, but then decided Ys IV is too dope to not vote for it

It is really hard to pick your favorite Ys game.  I don't think there exists a BAD ys game.
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Ys strategy is PURE crap.  Followed fairly closely by the DS remake...while not AWFUL, so flawed it saps most of the fun out.

Ys strategy?  :)   I thought everyone with a brain pretended that didn't exist.

The DS remake, was basically a DS-o-fied version of the PC remake.  If you can somehow manage to get the drunken style stylus to work, the ramming system is intact!

For a portable, it beats the choppy version of Ys VI for PSP !

Though I haven't played thru Ark on PSP, I don't recall any choppiness, just long load times.  Anways, my fav is probably Origin, I loved that game, I'd have to say, atleast at the moment, after that, would be Oath in Felghana, & the Dawn of Ys.  The PCE version of Ys 3 was my first, pretty easy to beat in japanese actually.  I do love that game, probably cuz it was my first, but, it's not my favorite.  BTW, where's the voting area for the PS2 versions of 1-5??  The DS 1 & 2 is....ok, but, thankfully Falcom ported over the Eternal/Complete versions to PSP, unfortunately, probably no one will pick it up, thanks to Atlus picking up the DS ones ](*,) though I wasn't totally happy with their translation of various names & places.  As for Ys 7, it has no jumping, believe it or not, but, I'm hearing it's awesome, & am hoping it will be brought over in some manner, whether it be PSP, PS3, etc.  I doubt the PC version would ever get an english release outside of an english patch by fans.

Hmm, my VI on PSP is choppy.  Maybe my PSP is about to take a huge crap and stop working lol!

I thought Oath in Felghana was another kick ass game.  All of the newer Ys games for PS2 / PC are superb.  Too bad the US gets shafted and doesn't get to see them.

Ys 1 & 2 will always have a special place in my heart, and while Ys 3 is great, it's too short and too easy.  Ys 4 is probably even better than 1 & 2, but not being able to play it in English on my Duo knocks it out of my top spot.

Ys IV / Oath of in Felghana were contenders, but Ys Book I & II still wins.

I sound like a broken record, but the Belltower scene (burnt-orange-red sunset, a sea of ominous clouds whisking by, hearing the fateful bell toll, knowing the end is nigh...) is one of the greatest moments in video game history, of all time.

Talk about f'n awesome.

If you're going to list all of the Ys games, then you forgot the newest one; Ys Seven.  It's been out for a month.

I'm with nat: Ys 3 is my favorite. The music has a very timely feel - it fits the game perfectly and has a great nostalgic feel. The soundtrack feels like a true classic from the first time you play it.

CrackTiger

Ys I & II for me, even though it's two games. I loved Y's for SMS and wanted an upgrade for years. The Turbo CD version was better than I expected and I prefer it to all other versions. As good and impressive as Ys IV is and how much it builds off of Ys I & II, I & II have so many classic scenes that may or not be tied to blind nostalgia. It doesn't matter in the end, because we're simply talking about favorites here. :)

Naturally, I agree: that there are so many classic moments in the the game that were genuinely exciting and memorable (Belltower tolling, draining the sewers, Adol's disguise as a monster, etc. etc.)... and they were well-polished on the TG-CD version. And this is ignoring the cinemas and the music.

Ys I is one of my favorite games for SMS, but it simply can't compare to the TG-CD version.

It's a lower frame rate on the PSP version, than the PS2 and PC version. But what makes the PSP version soo horrid are the load times. Still, I don't like the low frame rate of the game - but at least it would be playable as a game. I only bought the PSP version because I got it for cheap. I already know what the problems were with it. My friend had purchased it when it had first come out. The plane trip to Brazil was soooo long, that he actually had nothing else to do - but to play that game. In that situation, the load times weren't so bad.

Felghana, hands down! It's a Falcom masterpiece in every way: a solid story, awesome soundtrack (comparable to Ys III Turbo CD), and great graphics.

Hm, why am I the only one that voted for it so far??  :-\ You guys are still so so retro, course you can't be blamed given Ys Book I&II's greatness... ;)
