Just got a NES 4-score yesterday. I'd like to put it to use right away, but the only compatible game I own is NES play action football.

I'm already on the lookout for Bomberman 2: what other NES games allow 3+ players and are good?

NecroPhile

Ummm.... Super Off Road and RC Pro Am 2.  I can't think of anything else besides Jeopardy and sports crap.

Magic Johnson's Fast Break
Monster Truck Rally
M. U. L. E.
NES Play Action Football
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Nintendo World Cup
R.C. Pro-Am II

Above list is per Wikipedia.  Super Off Road gets a lot of 4 player use in my house to this day.  I have to try Nightmare and Monster Truck Rally...  Great games, never know they were for 4 players.

Does this actually support four players, or is it two players with two controllers each (dual joystick like the arcade)?

I think I rented that one once. I remember having fun with it.

I think it might only be 2-player, but Camerica's MICRO MACHINES flat-out rules. My friends and I had a blast playing that back in the day.

Super Off Road was a blast as well, even though the cars are TINY. Tinier than the vehicles in MicroMachines.

The two games should have swapped titles. :)

There is a bunch of stuff in Japan that is 4 player as well, such as the Kunio sports games. Kunio soccer is available in the U.S. as "World Cup Soccer" and is 4 player. There is an official 2-in-1 cart available for the American NES with SuperSpike V'ball and World Cup Soccer.

Super Spike V'ball is a great game.

Crash 'N the Boys Street Challenge is another Kunio sports game available in the U.S. and I believe it's 4 player.

It's 2 players using 2 controllers each.

I never knew they made Smash TV for the NES. I thought it was only available on the SNES where you can use the D-pad for movement and the B,A,X, and Y buttons for firing weapons in corresponding directions.

It's totally legit... it was released in the US and Europe for NES but not in Japan.

TANGENT:

All of this talk about Smash TV and multi-player games eventually led me to...

...and I really liked how The Grid pays homage to the "Major League Baseball" logo...

Anyway, I had never even heard of "The Grid" until I looked at Ed Boons' list of work and, you know, chuckled when I realized that everything was MORTAL COMBAT... except for one innocuously titled game in the middle of the list.

Yes, Mortal Combat characters have cameos in The Grid. It really wasn't a surprise, I suppose.

YOU NEVER HEARD OF THE GRID!?!?!?!?

Probably a top 5 of my favorite arcade games of all time.  It was the last great game to hit my mall arcade, before the mall arcade closed.  There were two of them linked, and my friends and I would play side by side for hours.

I don't know why there was never a home conversion of this game, I would've loved it.  I cross my fingers for an xbox live/PSN release, but it will never happen.  It was the best deathmatch I've ever played.

Hahahahaha. No, I never, ever heard of The Grid prior to today.

I'm not a big fan of the FPS genre, so even if I saw the cabinets... well, I would have walked passed them :o
