I wish I could've bought Splatterhouse for this Halloween. It will have to wait.

Playing Blazing Lazers mostly. Great game, but a bit too long. Also playing World Court Tennis, the rpg mode is very, very cool.

1000th post of the thread!

Fired up some Dracula X for the first time in god knows how long.  Man it's such a blast to play.  Surprisingly the game plays 100% every time I fired it up this weekend.  Too bad I can't say the same for every cd game.

allyourblood

Blazing Lazers: it is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

That's the same party that I use (with the exception of Tor)! I made my own custom maps for the game. If you're interested in one, PM me with your email address.
You should post scans of said maps online for all to see!!!!!

A friend and I made some homemade grid paper maps back in Highschool, we actually used them in AD&D, but now who knows where they are....

Air Zonk again. Man, this game pisses me off sometimes (okay, most of the time). I'm playing on Spicy mode, and I keep getting to the boss rush in the 5th stage and then losing all of my lives. The football boss (that tears in half) and the flower boss need to die. The flower especially chews through a bunch of my lives.

I really like this game but sometimes there are just too many things going on onscreen for me to keep up with. And yes, I'm well aware that Air Zonk is one of the easier shooters on the TG16. I suck, sue me. Having to start over at the beginning of stage 5 every time I get my bell rung during the boss recap makes me end up turning the game off after a couple tries. It's especially frustrating as I can get all the way to that part without using a single continue, and then I just get whomped on.

Got the next couple days off from work so I'm gonna try to put a few hours into Cadash or (gasp!) Shining Force II.

allyourblood, here's some pointers for those two bosses in Stage 5:

For the football boss... when the first form is going down, do a charge to drop a bomb. That way, when that punk comes up, you got damage already going. And a weapon normally comes out when the first form drops (usually boomerangs, which are quite useful for fighting the second form), so make sure to get it if you've got nothing. As for the rest of it... well, it's just timing mostly. Use your charge shot a lot, and make sure you time your movements carefully.

As for the flower boss, I think the first form is harder, since the second form is amazingly easy. For the first form, the circle shots that come out in a pattern are predictable, as they always come out after a few seconds. The snake-like thing that comes out of it is more of a worry, but all you need to do is move out of its way without getting hit by the other shots. It takes a little practice. Use the charge shot like crazy for the first form. For the second form, just stay on the opposite side of the screen... when you're on the left, use your charge shots, and when you're on the right, use charge bombs and rely on the backfire to take out the flowers it shoots at you.

Also, for any boss in the game, make use of the temporary invincibility when you come back from dying to inflict major damage on the boss with your body. Just move in for a second or so to get in a huge hit of damage, then back off. It works great.

Oh yeah... I just played through Bomberman, and three rounds of Populous (maps 1, 5, and 9). Good times. :D

Just finished Chapter 1 of Dragon Slayer. Took about 1:45. Fun game, but man there's a lot of grinding to be done. I basically just sat with my thumb on the I button for an hour as my characters leveled up and gained cash. When they were all at levels 9-10, I proceeded to destroy the bosses in under thirty seconds.

I like the story; though it's rather basic and the voice acting is hilarious. Nevertheless, I find myself wanting to trudge through it just to see what happens.

Just finished Somer Assault earlier this week - Working on Bomberman now.
Games currently in play:
PS3: COD Ghosts
TG16: Boxyboy

OldMan

I just finished that the other day, after hearing everyone talking about it.

Level 65, 37:05:55. Last boss was a mild challenge.
Just so you know what you have to shoot for.

(And, for those interested, I spent a lot of the leveling trying to find different towns. Wandered around for almost 4 hours trying to find Port Nors :)

roflmao

I played through a good chunk of Spriggan on Normal difficulty earlier.  Made it to the final boss (the purple-green guy) but he bested me.  I will be back!

I've previously beaten it on easy and was actually a little surprised at how far I made it on normal.  It's definitely within reach.  I'll give it another go soon.

Thanks, Rover! Yeah, I've been trying a few of those, but I'm beginning to think my problem is carelessness. I need to focus and stop guessing at where to move. I played again today and used up my last two lives on that flower guy again. I started the boss recap with 5 lives in reserve and lost 3 of them on the first boss alone -- I got there with just my standard weapon and he took a long time, so by the time I got to the flower guy I was already feeling frustrated.

I'll keep trying; eventually I'll get it down.

I've been going through some games that I've read aren't awesome:

- Andre Kickboxing is alright at best. If you want a fighting game there are way better games available
- Ballistix is awful. I can't aim my guy for shit and even if I could I have just about no control over the "puck"
- Unsurprisingly, Cybercore is a decent shooter but there are way better shooters on the system

CyberCore has an amazing soundtrack, and it's good fun to boot. It's not an amazing shooter all-around, but you could sure do a lot worse.

Been playing some Gomola Speed. It's different for sure, but not in a bad way. It's actually rather fun. Also played some Rastan Saga 2. The game isn't as bad as some people claim, IMHO, but it definitely could have been better. Sometimes it seems impossible to prevent being hit by some enemies as well as the traps like the flame throwers.

right now, playing Ys books I&II on the turbob, and finishing up no more heroes on ps3

I got Legendary Axe II in today, so I played a few levels of that. It's really fun! I was surprised at just how well it controls, and so far, the enemies and bosses are pretty interesting. It's a little on the easy side so far, but I prefer that in platformers to TV-smashing-difficult. The sound effects are also really good, and the explosions that occur with every kill are very satisfying. Don't know why I waited so long to pick this one up.

Nope. Just the first 4 levels, in fact. I'm guessing by your reply that this game becomes maddening in short order? Guess I'll steel myself for it.

I remember picking up Legendary Axe II way back in the early 90s and was very pleasantly surprised with it.
The level designs are pretty varied and interesting.  The bosses are great... however, the difficulty get pretty high on the last level... I got to the final boss a few times, but never beat it... one day I've got to fire it up again, but I doubt that I have the time or patience to beat it without savestates.

Playing my two newest game additions. Psychosis and Chase HQ. Psychosis... interesting shooter. Not one of the better ones, but has its charm. Finished the first world, got my fanny handed to me on the second. As for Chase HQ? I'm not sure what to think. Its got a cool element, but is definitely lacking in the execution. Haven't played the game on any other console, so perhaps its how the game is designed. Plan on giving it another go regardless.

allyourblood

Psychosis is pretty cool. Not as visually-arresting as BL, or SSS, but very unique and fun in its own right. Love the music and the satellites/options/whatevers. I also like that it has sort of a... creepy vibe. I'd love to see more mind-warping, or even outright horror-themed shooters.

Playing Alien Crush. I find it a lot more addicting playing it in the original system (and not an emulator like I've done until now). But it's VERY SLOW to get high scores. I played for 3 hours and only got 40 million points (of a total of 999!) Is there any fast way to rack up the score?

Sadler

Got Camp California the other day and just gave it a quick whirl. My thoughts? "Bogus!" Just kidding, the game actually controls pretty well, I just suck. Stupid question, how do I get that first tire? I punch the rat with it and it bounced away. Is that all I had to do? I couldn't advance farther right after that, but I could go back left. I didn't see the tire though?

That was tricky for me too the first time I got there...if I remember correctly, you have to push up or hold the II button (without turbo) depending on which setting you selected from the options menu to do a super jump off of the spring boards.

Playing Legendary Axe. I'm not very good at these games... finally got to the last boss yesterday evening, and after two tries on him I was told that my continues had been exhausted. My guess is that the witch doctor will be dead within the week.

got bonks adventure in the mail today. got to the end but i cant beat king drool. I only have 3 hearts. how do i get more hearts?

During the game, make it a point to try and do well on all the bonus stages.  There you will acquire hearts and lots of free lives.  Collect as many of the smiley faces during the levels too.

Once you know how to beat that boss, it's ridiculously easy.  Here's a video I did of that level and the boss fight starts around 1:50:
That level and the last level are really hard!  In my runthrough on Youtube, this is the only clip where I die.   I think one of the tricks to this game is to just keep moving. :)

EDIT:  Whoops, I forgot I died making a bonehead mistake on the final boss as well.  #-o

So I recently took my Duo-R and assorted games up to the local anime con's game room.  Much to my delight it was a big hit.  There were players glued to it every time I had it out, from age 7 up to 50ish.  I don't have the largest library of titles but I did bring quite a few to choose from and much to my surprise by far the most popular was Pac Land.  On Saturday there was a large group of teens who couldn't get enough of it; they were texting their friends to describe "this weird game like Pac Man meets Mario", haha.  Bonk's Adventure, Ninja Spirit, R-Type, and Monster Lair were also big hits.  The 7-12 year old crowd seemed to prefer Monster Lair, and this one kid was much better at it than me.  I did get further than I had previously on R-Type, though!

You have to find the green florets sprinkled throughout the game. If you bonk or jump on them they will give you a blue heart which adds an extra heart to your heart meter. You can only have a maximum of five hearts, however.
