I'm surprised to see more votes for Talespin than Darkwing Duck. I wonder if that's because more people have played Talespin?

I voted for Darkwang Duck, because it has no excuse for being so shitty.

I didn't vote Turrican because it sucks on every platform it's ever been on, so I'd rather save my worst TG16 vote for something meaningful.

Turrican is like, a special olympics Contra.

and I didn't vote for Falcon because its as good as every other shitty flight sim from back then.  All of those games blow to me!

I haven't played all of the games listed, but of the several I have, it's probably a toss up between Talespin, Darkwing Duck and Yo Bro!. Since it's the only one (of those three) that I currently own, I'll go with Talespin. It's about as clunky as they come.

I've never played Falcon or Gunboat, but just from watching videos online, I imagine I'll despise them. Especially Falcon. I don't even like current flight games, let alone those wretched 8- and 16-bit offerings.
If anyone gets any leads on a "fair priced" copy of Coryoon, please lemme know!

Where is fancy bred?

My parents bought me Boxy Boy and Timeball one Christmas... what a lunch box let down that was...

TheClash603

Darkwing Duck and Talespin are decent games, which are only seen as terrible because the NES got all of those great Capcom licensed Disney games (imagine a TG16 Ducktales... drool).  Yo Bro! is a good game, and to me, seems like it could be on a few top 10 best TG16 games, so I am surprised it got a vote.  Falcon sucks, but I think it is because I don't like the flight sim genre, and not necessarily because it is a bad game.

Timeball is just no fun to play, it is terrible.  That's why it is my pick.  Sorry to hear about your Christmas djolof, but Boxy Boy is somewhat redeeming at least.

Mathius

Talespin on the NES sucked too.

henrycsc

Boxyboy's a great game - just not one you give to a kid.  Timeball could have been called Blowdia.  It does appear though that Falcon will finally take its place atop one list at least.

I must be missing something because I keep hearing how much fun Ducktales is, but I just can't get into it.  Maybe there's a big nostalgic factor that I'm not taking into account.  (I remember the cartoon fondly - I must have been in middle school/early high school when it aired.)

Talespin was alright.

Darkwang duck was a fucking disappointment and a half.

I really wish Capcom got to OBEY.

Yeah, it really helped it you got to experience Ducktales as a friday night rental back in teh day. :)

I honestly think that the big disappointment with Darkwing Duck is that it ended up being so mediocre after being delayed a thousand times.

Good level design, great control, great music. The game is a little on the short side but it's a lot of fun.

Just on a side note the NES Darkwing Duck is a lot like Mega Man which is why it's such a good game.

Oh HELL NO, there's been a mistake: Timeball ain't supposed to be on that list!

I don't use "ain't" lightly...

Hell no. Timeball is a totally solid puzzle game that holds up well, 20-30 years later. Sure, it's no-frills presentation needs a face-lift to intrigue contemporary audiences, but the core game is motgerfickin' SWEET.

;)

Quote from: geise on 09/16/2011, 10:26 AMI must be the only one that likes Ballistix.  Granted I first played it on the Amiga.  A reason so many other games have yet to get votes is probably because others have played Falcon.
Please, please elaborate. ;). I'm not joking, or trying to be malicious. I just want to hear someone advocate its "redeeming" qualities. There are only a handful of games that I don't appreciate on some level—so you have a sympathetic ear.

Anyone else can jump in, too. Please focus on the game proper, because the title screen and Psygnosis-beast-as-mascot are the only things I like at present. I am willing to open my mind.

NOTE: I am so glad Rastan Saga II didn't make the list ;)

ALSO NOTE: I can't decide between Falcon and Ballistix. I actually have more fun spending 4 minutes with Falcon than 45 seconds of Ballistix.

I was playing Keith Courage just this morning.  There's no way it should be considered among the worst of the system.

Repetitive?  Sure.  But I remember the first time I played it, I was completely blown away at how colorful the graphics were, how fast things moved, and the the awesome soundtrack!  If you played this back in the day, Keith Courage looked and sounded light years above any NES or SMS game.

Sure there are more fun games for the system, but this game, imo, put the competition to shame back in the day.

If Davis Cup Tennis were on the list, I'd probably vote for that.  I haven't really played any of the other games on the list, except for China Warrior and I don't think it deserves to be on that list.  I've tried a few times to get into Davis Cup Tennis and  it's just not very good.  I hear the other tennis game for the TG16 is better so I'll have to hunt it down one of these days.

T2KFreeker

Turrican? Really? Turrican on the Turbografx 16 is awesome. It also is the port that is closest to the original game. I guess it doesn't matter that at the time that Turrican released for the C64, it was easily one of the biggest selling games on it. I know that may sound like not a huge deal, but when you look at how many Commodores sold back in the day, you may see my point then. The Genesis and SNES versions were dumbed down so people would like the game better. Really sad when you look at it.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Magical Chase. ONLY because its a decent shooter but for the price it goes for is a completely terrible game.

For a $50 shooter its fun but not nowhere near what its worth.

While it is not the worst game, this title really should have been better. All of the budget went into filming and digitizing the video.

BUT THE SONG--Sea of Love--the song alone saves this title from being the worst game. I'm serious. I love that damn song.

Aww, don't say that.  For what it is (a riff on cheesy b-movies), it's pretty dang good - the only really bad part being the clunky side scrolling bits.

You're absolutely right. I like that song too ... and I hate the side scrolling. The overhead combat in the original version was much better.

Those filmed scenes are soooo cheesy. I'll pop it in occasionally when I want to give my friends a good laugh.

Funny as this is, my Mom and I used to go to church with Randy Platt, the original programmer for the Amiga version. It was cool knowing a guy that was inot making Video Games back when I was a kid. The guy was cool too and didn't have a big head about it. I remember my Birthday that year, he showed up with "It Came From The Desert" for the Turbo CD, but I didn't have one. Sadly, we went to the store and he got me the NES "Marvel Comics X-Men". Yeah, I felt screwed too because no matter how bad you may think It Came From The Desert was, this game was MUCH worse!

I figured I'd resurrect this thread by saying I've spent a couple hours playing Falcon. I'm currently on Mission 9 of 16 and have to say that, after giving it a fair chance, I'm rather enjoying it. Brings back memories of some of the flight sims I played on the computer in the early 90s'. Flight of the Intruder, MiG-29, Corncob 3D, Jetfighter II (my personal favorite at the time), Flight Sim Toolkit, etc. Falcon is definitely not the worst game on the Turbo. Gunboat wins that spot, hands down...

CPTRAVE

I would have to say falcon, or Dark Wing duck to many flaws.
