Possible Fake copy of Sapphire on ebay (if it is fake its very expenseive ;))

I went on a mission today to actually try and find a real copy of this game (i dont intend to buy it, i just want to look at it and drool over it of course  ), and well i found it (dont worry im not buying) luckily i had read up on the german pirates from here:

The only thing that makes this version on ebay look like a fake is the silver strip on the disc spindal looks too thick, i cant tell the colour differences from the photos, if it is a fake i feel sorry for who ever buys it this for this price.

What difference does that make? Fake Sapphires are on every continent by this point.

Its pretty hard to tell a fake one from a real one unless you really know what you are looking at, and the photos are really good. I think you might be right about the center of the CD though.

Either way, I think at this point that anyone who buys a copy of Sapphire on eBay for more than $40 is kind of being stupid. You're pretty much guaranteed to be screwed.

You can tell the manual is a fake off the bat from CrackTiger's comparison. So most likely the cd will be too.

Yes this copy is certainly fake, I meant Sapphire sales in general.  I bought my copy in a real store, and the staff had no problems with me opening and inspecting it.  All the rare game stores here in Japan are quite aware of the bootlegs now.

I pmed bartre and thanked him for the raffle, even though the disk did not work. I remember my friend telling me he was bummed out that he missed that raffle and was jealous that i had it. I told him, if it worked in his duo it was his. It did, so i gave it to him. He later told me he was not very good at it and was gonna sell it. I can understand your reasoning, but I was lucky enough to get a copy and even though I'm really bad at the game I would never dream of selling it just because it was given to me as a gift.  I don't want to turn this into witch hunt territory, but if he was going to sell it he should have either listed it at 99c, or started at the going rate of the Arcade Card Duo (appx $25?) and let it move from there.  A listing starting at $100 minimum is kind of a kick in the balls.

Knowing it was a giveaway didn't you tell him the "etiquette" of this release? I know its his business to do what he wants with it but its kinda shitty that you aren't even telling this guy that he probably shouldn't sell it.

It could look bad on you here in the future for giveaways as well, just saying

hmm..  I sent him a message on Ebay,  basically letting him know that people know what he is doing.  I told him if he had just sold the Arcade Card, for a decent price, and added the Sapphire as a bonus item then it would have been cool.  But selling something that was given to him, that was FREE to begin with is shitty.  Sure, its his to do as he please.  But I still said what I had to say.  I damn sure wouldnt be happy with my "friend" if they done this.  Its bullshit.

Herc, I do respect that you came on and said that it was your copy, you didn't even have to do that! What I find disappointing is your friend didn't own up to it himself (since it was mentioned he has an account here). I have never had a problem with you and still don't. I wasn't trying to make a threat about the future giveaways, just that some people might think twice in the future. I hope that I am wrong and more than likely I am because this is a really great community!

I foresaw problems like this arising from people signing up and post whoring just to be able to participate in these raffles. Everythings all smiles and giggles until one of these people gets the game in their hands, then it's "Oh I suck guess I'll have to sell this off for top dollar."

Yup thats me! Its been a while but i have converted a couple of controllers, its a fun project  if you had it oartually working it sounds like you were close. Some wires might not have good connections.

Thanks man, i figured it was gonna suck but the support overall has been very positive.  Yea that project was fun, and frustrating at the same time. Unfortunately i did not follow your instructions the first time i attempted it and i should have.  I pissed me off bad enough that i have not reattempted it. The other guys instructions i followed were rather vague on a few key points so i had to guess. And i'm assuming i guessed wrong. Someday i'm gonna take another crack at it.

Yeah it can be frustrating the first time especially when it doesn't work. The PDF I did has alot if details and photos. I even got Turbo buttons to work for a NES Sansui controller.

I think part of the problem was i attempted to make my own cord. I did not want to ruin a turbo controller so i used 8 wire cat 5 cable and a mini din connector. Oddly enough the mini din, did not line up exactly with the mini din connector on my duo.  Until i'm willing to ruin a turbo controller to attempt the mod, it will probably be awhile before i try again.

Herc, that mini Din connector comes in 2 flavours, known as "c" and "u" because they're aligned slightly differently.  I got mine from here:
