I want to show everyone what I found inside an old white pc engine system recently. Turns out someone altered the RF port by putting in a NES board of some sort. This thing now works on channel 3 instead of 96 or whatever number a pce runs on.

whats with the logic chips
the rf mod should be much easier

This PCE must have been imported a long time ago.

Keith Courage

Yeah, it is really old. The IDE type cables inside had started to fall apart.

Does anyone have a picture from the original auction? I still have a picture in my brain, but, DAMN, how could we be so silly as to not save the actual photo?

That reminds me of when I was at a Hard Off thrift store in Yamaguchi City (of all places) and I found a white multitap that had Tengai Makyou stickers on it. It had a 'well-loved' feel to it, and I thought it was cool. Just looking at it somehow reminded me of what it was like to be a kid again. I was gonna buy it, but I was with my girlfriend and she said it was ugly and begged me not to buy it. Eventually I gave in and bought another cleaner one that didn't have stickers on it. Now I've broken up with her and I still have the plain white tap instead of the dirty one with stickers on it that I really wanted. Hardware tends to last longer than girlfriends. I'll try to remember that next time (and not be a f@cking mangina).

Great anecdote! :pcgs:

Think of it this way: now you have a mission to find the impossible...a well-worn, well-loved, 85% new multitap.

Man, I had a couple white PCEs that looked like that multi-tap... Sometimes you wonder what kind of abuse people inflict on their poor little video game consoles. The crazy thing is that they still all work perfectly though! Couldn't say that about a Playstation/Xbox. Sneeze on one of those things and they break.

That reminds me. Currently I'm using a well-yellowed PCE CD and Interface unit, but the PCE I have in there is a perfectly clean Core GrafX. Seriously, I wanna get a yellowed original PCE to replace the Core GrafX so it matches...

I've got a few yellowed PC Engines that I am selling at the moment for $25 plus shipping. They are going quick though!

I'm in Japan, so I'll keep looking here. It's not that I can't find one, but that I haven't bothered looking much lately. Having a complete yellowed set is a passing fancy, really. It works fine with the Core Grafx, and I'm not sure I'll be able to sell the core grafx for much since I don't have all the cables for it.

Coregrafx 1 with just the AC Adapter. It's in Japan and I'm planning on probably just putting it up on Yahoo! Auctions if I get around to it. I'd gladly consider selling it here if there would be any interest in paying shipping from Japan.

Haha. That was fast. Didn't realize people would want this. Hold your horses there guys. It's not for sale until I get a beautiful yellow original PCE to replace it.  =P~ There's one up on Yahoo! right now I'll probably get, but it's untested and may or may not be working. We'll see.

I've got about 12 old white PC Engine, some of which are in horrible condition but I've yet to come across one that doesn't work. They are built like tanks.

I have. I originally bought two untested PCE + CD/interface unit sets. One had the original white PCE and the other one had the Core Grafx 1. The original white PCE didn't power up at all, and the CD drive that came with the other set had a bad motor. I ended up pairing the working Core Grafx with the working CD drive that came with the broken white PCE to make one working set. I don't really have the resources at my tiny place in Tokyo to try to repair this stuff, so I just sold the non-working stuff honestly as "non-working" on Yahoo auctions.

I love buying untested stuff and putting it to use though, so I'm going to get another untested white PCE. I've got a bid on one right now for 100 yen. It's mine!

If there was no power at all I bet the fuse had blown. Not sure why but pc engines and core grafx systems are known for that.

I think it might be because people use the wrong power supply on them, which would certainly cause the fuse to blow.

Yeah, that would make sense as that's the fuse's job in the first place.
