^I highly doubt it since he has a "buy it now" price also. What are the chances he listed both prices by accident. He sells chess stuff so this is what he does with his pawns.

NecroPhile

Heh, that's crazy.  Those two ain't worth more than $30, tops.

Yeah, especially SFII'. That game can be had for less than $5 if you look around.

He probably meant to list it at $15.99. As bad as crazy gougers get, this would be like listing SMB/Duck Hunt for $100. They are high profile cheap games.
I sent him a message.
QuoteI hope you do realize....that both of these games can be had, right here on eBay, for under 15.00 each.  If ya wanna sell these, might want to adjust your starting bid.
I thought it was decent, and to the point actually.  Here is his response.
QuoteHi Jimilee2012,
Thank you for the advice! Next time you see me overpricing something, don't be so helpful. I don't know you and don't value your opinion.

Thanks,

What an ass..

So I sent this.
QuoteWow...  Was trying to be helpful, as I am a collector of TG-16/PCengine games and hardware. Any search for these two games would have proved me right.  But since you choose to remain ignorant, enjoy your two games that will never sell at that price.

Have a nice day

Yeah I can see people trying to overcharge for what they think is a really rare game, but $150 for two extremely common games? What's next, SuperMario/Duckhunt loose for $59.99, BIN $74.99?

NightWolve

Is he that stupid and ignorant of current prices for those games which are going to show up in searches right alongside with his listing OR is he that much of an asshole hoping to find a sucker willing to pay that much? I guess his response, "Next time you see me overpricing something, don't be so helpful. I don't know you and don't value your opinion." indicates the latter... He's in the megahit79 column.

And my last response.

QuoteLook fella, I was trying to be helpful..  Not self serving.  I already have these games, so how is it self serving?  Read here for more info on how high a price you are asking is. https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=8477.2490  Or, do not read it and stay ignorant.  Yes, ignorant.  Cause someone that is not, would want to learn what something is worth, and is open to suggestion, which is certainly not yourself.  Learn to search before you try to sell.  And learn to take advice, and furthermore...just learn something, you ignorant little man.  Also, learn to spell possession.  Maybe if your first response to me was not so rude, I wouldn't have said for you to remain ignorant..  But, looks like I hit the nail on the head though.

You should've just posted some current eBay links to the games and that's about it... LOL @ his, "Your advice is self serving." Not when the user is an eBay search away from finding the same items for pennies on the dollar compared to what this jag is asking!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Street-Fighter-2-II-Dash-NEC-PC-Engine-HuCard-Japan-/ - $9.99

http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Fighting-Street-TurboGrafxCD-1989-/ - $17.99 (though, upon a 2nd look, this one does point to a Japanese copy)

So I guess I'm wrong, he is stupid and ignorant (still an asshole though). He didn't do a pre-search to see how much they're already going for.

CrackTiger

Completed eBay sales of SFII' CIB are almost all $10 - $12. I saw one listing for Fighting Street, which failed to sell for $18. So $30 would be more than what eBay shoppers are currently willing to pay. Hopefully other ignorant sellers don't use his asking price as a basis to put up similar lots for $300+.

I understand what you are trying to say here, but this is still a bad comparison.  A coffee at Tim Horton's costs $1.40.  A coffee at Starbucks is $1.90.  It's a difference of .50 cents.  Now if Starbucks sold a basic coffee at $190 dollars then you would have a case.

We continue to get people from each new wave of members who try to educate us about how all Turbo games are super expensive and how we are simply lying about fantasies that we wish were true. This thread documents proof of actual value as much as it details the extent that sone people go to to manipulate the market. Someone who took advantage of the good will of other members went so far as to delete the original thread to cover his tracks.

Just like with any discussion, if it doesn't interest you, no one is forcing you to participate. This thread is a more useful price guide than anything else online and is priceless for those who don't have a feel for what to expect to pay for anything.

I'm guessing that the games that come with these lots do not included Dynastic Hero, Beyond Shadowgate, Super Air Zonk, Godzilla, etc. In which case, the Turbo-CD lot is likely only worth as much as $150 and the TurboDuo lot as much as $250.

The average person is a jackass.
Especially for Turbo/PCE stuff... That said I get great deals on SMS and Genesis stuff on eBay all the time, probably because it's not some NES/SNES crap which most "retro gamers" seem to think is the be-all-end-all of gaming.

Arkhan Asylum

At the CCAG there were legitimate people that were selling tons of stuff at ebayish prices.

Not because they were dicks, but because they didn't know any better.   They're not aware of forums/other ways to price stuff.

Fortunately, they were all willing to haggle because they'd rather sell stuff than not sell stuff.    The only stubborn jackass was the guy selling Famicom carts for retarded prices.  He was mostly there to show his crap off.    He even said he wasn't looking to part with any of it but would for the right price.

His manliness was destroyed when he saw what I was packin at the Aetherbyte booth.

TWO duo-rs!?    His peepee shrunk.   Then I told him I could buy half those games for 3-6$.

I got boxed Magic of Scheherazade and Battle of Olympus games for 15$ total, and Arcana boxed for 10$.

Then I took the Scheherazade and Olympus carts and traded them to get other games, since I just wanted the boxes and shit!

I traded Olympus for like, 10$ worth of NES carts!

The Sch.Olympus dude used ebay as his price figure outter.  I watched him look up the games on ebay and then label his stuff he was selling.    He was only selling high quality stuff.   Nice boxes/carts/everything.

Here's the kicker though.

He was using eBay, but pricing things 5-10$ below ebay prices.  I went and looked them up myself to see, and I was like "well how about that, he's not a retard!"

So, hats off to that guy.  He's legit in my book.   He also sold alot of stuff.

It really depends on the games and the thing about a lot is that the buyer has to take it all, regardless of their interest in each item. So even if some unattractive games can sell for $10 each, tacking five onto a lot doesn't make it $50 more attractive. Unless you've pieced together a generally recognized set of some sort, the more you add to a lot, the greater the discount should be conpared to individual values. I sold a modded Duo R with nine games for $170, but although I know I could have made more money if I wanted, I don't believe that it was worth $350 because of average individual eBay prices.
