The reason why i am asking is because i just came across and insane lot of about 35 Sealed turbo grafx games and of the 35 about 15 of them are TTi releases and they feel like there isnt anything in them. One is the holy Grail of games as well (a sealed Magical Chase). I will upload the video of my pick up of my score later tonight in my youtube channel. Obviously the older games have cases so they feel much heavier.

Damn. So what are your plans for all those sealed games?

CPTRAVE

Have you opened any yet? Let me know if you want to sell Bonk 3.

syphic

I want to open them so badly. I separatd the TTI releases from the older releases and noticed that the TTi releases feel lighter that the other ones. Thats why i asked if maybe TTI was skimping on the packaging back then towards the end of days. Im sitting here looking at the stack of games and I feel like damn am I gonna wake up from some awesome dream. If so please dont let me wake up!!!!

I'll never understand why someone with access to the internet wouldn't think to look up some mint, sealed, twenty-year-old toys on Google before listing them for some random price on Craigslist. Insane. Even then, you'd think the flood of offers would alert them to the fact that they're sitting on a treasure before agreeing to a sale.

Quote from: syphic on 07/03/2012, 02:09 AMI want to open them so badly.
OK, here's what you should do: put Magical Chase up for auction, make $5,000, take a vacation, open the rest of the games, and live happily ever after.

No wait...first tell Alexsessesdou that you'll sell Magical Chase to him for $700, then change your mind and do all of that other stuff.

Anyway, nice haul, welcome to the forums, and open those games!

Would it really fetch $5000? Just curious, Not intending to sell it at all but thought people were joking that it would really go for that much.

Uh no, wishful thinking, he was just being sarcastic.  Now about Bonk 3.  =P~

JoshTurboTrollX

I've had dreams like this.

Congrats man.  Now go open each one and play the hell out of them!!!
Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

geise

Please open them and play them.  If you don't then it's money wasted.  Also, don't ever ever ever sell Magical Chase.  Resellers don't deserve them.  It needs a home for someone that will play it.  They are games after all.   Congrats on the find.  =D>

SamIAm

Dude, if you sell all that, you could be looking into 5-digit territory. Unless you're so rich to begin with that that's chump-change, I'd say sell the sealed stuff and buy unsealed if you want to play the games.

If you care to share how much you paid, I'd certainly be curious to know. And do you think the person who sold it to you was the person who collected it? Common sense would say it wasn't, but who knows.

If I were you, I'd keep it all sealed for a few years and sell it later. TG16 values are just going up and up.

NecroPhile

Open the games and enjoy them or go away.  What does it matter if there's games inside or not if you're not going to open 'em?

Now open those games and enjoy them the way they were meant to be. I want to hear how many hours youve logged in playing Magical Chase!

The Turbo Grafx 16 is my favorite console of all time and I am not going to sell these especially to some douche reseller. That is unless there was some kind of family emergency and needed money. As for opening them, that is something im going to need some time to think about. Definitely struggling with it now. As for what I paid, I havent told anyone but basically nothing. I traded it for a $325 Gift Card for Best Buy that I recieved as a gift like 2 years ago and I hate Best Buy so Its been in my wallet forever. Im going to do a short video of how this whole deal went down shortly.

That's a hell of a deal. I hope you enjoy it. Better someone that will enjoy the games gets ahold of them than someone just trying to sell them for big bucks and ultimately never selling them and just sitting on a shelf or something somewhere forever.

syphic

My game room gets dusty. Anyone recommend some place I can buy some clear plastic cases for turbo games? Ive seen some for other consoles but was unable to find anything for the Turbo games.

The boxes themselves are shrink wrapped and the games are in jewel cases (except the TTi releases, but you can get replacement cases for those), making such cases totally unnecessary.  Unless you're a full on omg rarez collector clown, of course, in which case you can send the bundle off for VGA grading and go fuck yourself.

Dear Lord.

I'm with galam: I have to delete this entire scenario from my brain.

I want to believe that this video is simply some sort of sick ruse perpetrated by someone with a nice collection...but I'm getting the impression that this actually was listed on Craigslist.

Amazingly painful for me.

But, syphic, keep all of those games and play them.

Well, actually, don't expect to get too much enjoyment from a few of them (Drop Off, Ballistix, Gun Boat, Champions Forever, TV Sports Anything). But the others...well, you have a bunch of great games.

Goddamn this thread. :pcds:

If you have a boxed open game, put a manual and huey in it, then compare the weight to one of the sealed ones.  If the sealed one weighs more, it prob has the stuff in it.  *Some* companies like Babbages had "display" boxes that they shrinkwrapped.  They are probably legit though - congrats!

..or open Hit the Ice, that will confirm the weight thing for ya with no value loss  LOL.

Was EVERYTHING sealed?

Congrats on the find, But if your not gonna open them then those games don't deserve you. They deserve to be opened and played. You say you love the TG16 well prove it and OPEN THOSE GAMES. There is nothing more fullfilling then going to the game room sitting down an playing Magical Chase on the TG16 or Duo. Not many people will ever be able to play the real hardware.

If you're 100% sure that you want to keep them forever, then go ahead and open them. Aside from losing the seal, they won't degrade if you take good care of them.

The thing to recognize is that unsealing a Magical Chase is essentially a one-time, momentary indulgence that is worth thousands of dollars. A couple of those other games are up there, too. If it's worth that to you, then great, you just got a fucking fantastic freebie. If it's NOT worth that to you, however...if in fact it's not even close...then you should locate someone for whom it IS worth that much, sell it to them, and spend the cash on an indulgence (or a necessity) that is worth that much to you. There's no shame in not being that hardcore of a TG16 fan, no matter what anybody says.

In my case, I'll come right out and say that I'm basically poor, and the thousands I'd get from selling that haul would be life-changing enough that I'd feel irresponsible not to sell it. Then again, I'm not the hardest of hardcore TG16 fans, either. You'll have to weigh your own situation.

Thanks for sharing, anyway. Whatever happens from here on out, it's an incredibly good thing for you. Enjoy it!

bartre

yeah, gotta go with sam, i never really enjoyed MC all that much, i say sell it as is, then buy a PCE version if you really like the game and use the rest for whatever you want, like buying every other TG game.

A agree wholeheartedly.  While I'd hate to see you sell Magical Chase or some of the other hard to come by games to another collector for an obscene amount of money, because it would mean that's one less copy out there for us who actually play the games, it's a buyer's market right now.  If you're not a hardcore Turbografx-16 fan, I could totally see selling that stuff for bank.

However, if that's your deal, then fuck you for creating an account here just to gloat.

I guess what I'm saying is welcome to the forums!  Open those suckers up and enjoy them.  Your instant collection probably makes a lot of folks here jealous.  All you need to do now is hunt down some of the awesome common games (Alien/Devil's Crush, Ninja Spirit, Blazing Lazers, Dragon Spirit, etc) and you'll be all set.

Of course before long you'll want to get a CD attachment (or Duo) and an Express.  :)

You do realize you've given hope to every Turbonerd who's fantasized about going to a rummage sale and scoring a pile of ultra-rare games, or finding some stash on Craigslist that everyone else has managed to overlook.

For that I say thanks...and...DAMN YOUUUUUUU! ;)

Always fun to play this stuff, but I have to agree with SamIAm, sell anything you want to open for 5X what it is worth unsealed, buy the unsealed version and PLAY IT!  Then, take the money you made and buy more TG16 stuff!  I always sell to buy more, not to make money, and it is more fun buying stuff with "free money"!  Super Congrats on an awesome find!

What to do with this collection is a personal decision.

From a purely financial standpoint, keeping the games sealed would make the most sense and either selling them now, when the market seems pretty hot or waiting to see what happens over the next few years... keeping in mind that the price may go up, may go down, or may even crash.  If you really want to play them, you can find cheaper open games, while making a profit selling them.

For some people, it would be worth the money just to open Magical Chase... a pleasure that will likely cost you several hundred to a couple thousand dollars.

For others, just knowing that they are one of the few ppl to have a sealed Magical Chase is worth it.

For some, getting the money would be nice... essentially, you can flip some plastic, silicon, and cardboard into a few thousand dollars... not bad...

Others just want to play the game... MC is not terribly easy to find in general, so opening the box is one way to do it... of course, there are other more economical ways to play the games: e.g., emulators and flash carts like neoflash...

hahahahaha... to funnny... and ya great find syphic as it is so nice to see a regular Joe get there hands on these goods, you paid next to nothing for the stuff so why not open them? hell if you do decide to sell them later you will still have a fist full of cash way more than the $350 you gave up :)... the people who are going to buy this sealed stuff up if you go to ebay will most likely be the wrong types of people/resellers.

ALSO... i am sure your getting a flood of PMs asking all kinds of questions & i am sure its a bit over whelming for ya so wait and get informed on things & prices and what a fair price is compared to an ebay price, hey ask around here on values but in the end i hope you decide to keep the stuff. :)

congrats again!!!

Its nice to get some friendly and nice opinions. Unlike some of the militant ones in some of the earlier pages.(Man some folks on here can be rough!) Im a gamer and not truly a hardcore collector but enjoy having some nice display pieces in my game room. But until you run into a find like this it isnt easy to make a decision on what to do with it. I mean im still in shock that this item is here in my bedroom. I still feel like im going to wake up and this was all some kind of dream.

Times are tought right now and the money would come in handy. But the one decison I have made is that I am going to keep this item. 2nd decision to open or not to open I will decide at a later time. If I do open it, you will all know and im sure and unboxing video would follow.

People are just rough because you wanna find hard platic cases to store your sealed games in. When prolly everyone here dont believe in doing that. We all agree you got a great deal yes. But when it comes to not opening a sealed game cause its worth $$$$ is a joke to me and most everyone on these forums. SOmething i cant understand.
