OK,

I was thinking of all the times I bought Turbob from people and several stuck out..

1.  Not too bad at all.  Husband and wife and I found each other using the interwebs.  They sold me a fat stack of Turbobs in case, great games etc.  They were very cool, and everything was good.  Then as we were leaving, they were all kind of smiley, and were like.  "Yeah, so we found these in/near the dumpster", and I was like, thanks for telling me, I'm going to use purell.

2.  Other guy, had a huge lot of bobs, which I needed to help my collection.  I drove a long way, paid a lot of money, and he wouldn't really bargain at all, met the guy.  He showed me everything, looked good, paid etc.  Then he tells me how he found all of this shit at a rummage sale for $1 each, and blah blah blah.  I get home, and Order of the Griffon is missing.

3.  High school "friend" borrowed bonk and something else.  Never game them back, found out he pawned them for mind altering stuff?

4.  Bought 2 systems, lots of games, etc, had to drive far away, through a very not good area.  Everything looks ok, later missing Airzonk... Then I contact him, says it was worth more, and decided to sell it on ebay (without lowering price), thanks buddy!

The last buy, Sinistron was missing from case, and not in the system....

I guess it taught me to inspect every game every time!

I buy a lot of stuff on the internets, and most of the time, no one ever tells me that they found the games or whatever for free or low cost or anything like that... And I buy a lot of random and stupid shit...

I was wondering if you guys had bad turbob stories? I am certainly not complaining about these couple, but they were somewhat memorable turbob... And I have not gotten raped, or killed yet!

When I go to buy stuff off Craigslist, I strike up conversations with the people.

If they don't seem to know dick about the items, and won't bargain at all, I assume they found the shit somewhere for nothing and saw its worth $$ on eBay.

So then I ask point blank "How much did you pay for all of this".

I love when they make up bullshit stories about the stuff and try to play it off like they've had the stuff for years.

When that happens I usually lowball the fuck out of them and say "take it or leave it".

One time, with some C64 stuff, I offered him 20$ because I could tell he found it all in the trash or at a Goodwill, and as I was backing out, he stopped me and said "fine, take it".

I guess he really didn't want to drag all that shit back into his house.
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

About the worse turbob experience was when I bought a "complete" version of Parasol Stars for $30 only to find out it was a loosely without even a sleeve. That and the game was pretty beatup too, so I tried to get my money back, didn't happen so now I"m stuck with a overpriced beatup copy of Parasol Stars.

NecroPhile

I've been pretty lucky, I guess, as the worst problem I've had was for a 'like new' US Super System Card that had a photocopied rear case liner thingy.  That one turned out alright, though, as eBay awarded me a partial refund and I resold it for minimal loss.

Look on the bright side: at least it's not an overpriced, beatup copy of Time Ball or Ballistix.

For me it's mainly just buying bad hardware. If you are selling hardware you should at least try to test it out to see if it works properly before selling it, especially at high prices.

PikachuWarrior

That's how people get away with it. Sometimes in listings they will put "untested" or that they can't find a game or power cord to see if it turns on.

I'm trying to stick to you guys, Hit Japan, and the odd eBay bargain.

Problem here is, if anyone has PC Engine stuff, it's usually because they've made an effort to get it over here, they know what it's worth, and most times want eBay prices, because they know they'll get them.  I've picked up NES's for £1.50, and games on all kinds of 16 bit systems for ~£1, but you hardly ever see PC Engine stuff in the wild.

About 10 years ago I got Air Zonk off of ebay.  No box, but I knew that.  It did come with the instruction booklet though.  Sadly the instruction booklet looked like someone stepped on it with their shoe and kicked it across a room.   Surprisingly the hucard is in amazing condition.  That was my only bad experience.  Didn't care too much since I only payed $17 total.

alexsduo

My first CD Turbob, was in when I was still in school.  Someone had it on craigslist, and I was trying to get it real bad.  It was boxed, etc. I didn't know anything about the CD units, and he had me come inside his home (with his wife and young daughter) and had me play Ninja Spirit for a couple minutes... I bought it and went on my way.

A couple days later I got a CD-ROM game, and tried to play it.  Nada, it didn't spin, or do anything.  Thought I was doing it wrong.  Email the guy, and he's like.  "I know.  It doesn't really work."

Oh, well thanks for telling me after I paid you your full asking price.  Especially, after you had no discs to try it, but you learn.

And for doing something shady like that, really?  Especially when you let me in your apartment with your young daughter and wife.  I am sure people have done terrible stuff for less than that, in regards to buying broken, stolen, or counterfeit stuff online...

Craigslist was around while you were in school?  I feel old.

I bought Browning on eBay years ago from some fucktard in Ohio who never shipped it. I really should be thanking him.

I tried to sit down and complete Browning one night when I first got it. It made me hate everyone "involved" in the game's development save for the artists and designers.

I'm not one to throw controllers around, flip tables and go on a rampage - but I was getting real close thanks to this "gem" of a game. I made it to the last boss, and there's simply too much bullshit to fight against, considering how great the controls "work". I use the term loosely :P

It's pretty cute how great they all seemed to think it would be a really cool game, creating a story for the booklet and a cast of characters and all that. Then when it came to making the game, it's as if they realized that "shit - how do i maek game?" and tried to pull a fast one. Which they probably did.

I hear ya man. I eventually got the game and tried SO hard to like it, it's not possible. I usually like bad games, but I really don't even consider this one

Well...at least the cutscenes are still good. Delicious pixel mecha porn.

Well post graduate school.... If I had craigslist in college, I would be dead or on hoarders right now.

Speaking of bad turbob buyers, I had a trade go on here recently that went kind of sour real quick when a certain person decided to go off on me why his package was taking so long and when it finally did arrive he started to try to stir some shit by saying that the post office date said August 3rd and he got it on the 6th when I had sent it out 2 weeks prior (post office error I guess they had lost it or some craziness and then sent it out on the 3rd) and tried to call me a liar and some other bs. Nevertheless, I told him if it didn't show up this week I would return the games I got from him or give him the cash for the inconvenience of his impatience. He didn't like that neither and kept going on and on and on. Moral of the story, don't do trades with people that have less than 100 posts and been on the forums less than a month and be sure to give them a tracking number whether they ask for it or not. My mistake on this whole thing I probably should have pestered the post office lady into giving me one and sent to him right after I messaged him that it was sent.

A lot of people suck.

So who was it?  I keep my receipts from the PO - it's not as good as tracking, but you can at least prove you sent something to their zip code.

Its probably what I should have done. I rather not name names here, but I will give you a big hint hes got 25 posts and registered here less than a month ago. I probably shouldn't have reported him to an admin, but his messages were getting rather annoying and harrasive real quick like. I doubt hes going to stick around for long, almost all of his posts have been in the trades thread.

Yikes, there was some serious drama with that guy if you missed it. Glad you didn't get screwed.

I did say he was on my blacklist.  Once a douche, always a douche.  Unfortunately, he was smart enough to make an alt - which is one of the reasons I didn't want him hit with the banhammer.

So I wonder what his alt is? I would rather not deal with this guy again or for that matter have anyone else deal with him.

I dont think you guys are talking about the same person

Well, I think he's talking about Canada, which is an alt of Swiss780's.

Patrick Stewart, that is.

I once paid over $400 dollars for a N64 back in Junior High. I would even give him money for the bus and lunch. In the end he tried to give me a Cruising USA, but he wanted it back in the same day. Nope I never got that N64 from him. Fatso he is.

About Turbo buys. Nope, no stories. Learned my lesson, when you buy stuff from people make sure they have the product, in person.

soop

Ok, so you tried to buy an N64 for $150 more than the release price, over 2 years after the system launched?

That guy saw you coming.

Maybe it was $400 Canadian.  'Nuck bucks weren't worth as much back then...

That is what I thought as well.  Swiss had all his WTB threads and posted stuff at high prices that he was selling.  Then Canada posts a picture of his gameroon and it's everything from Swiss's WTB threads.  That is also the only alias I know of.
Gypsies did it.
