Hi everyone,

I am a newbie here. I have a question which I hope someone here can help me out with.

I am looking for a complete list of PC Engine games. I cannot read Japanese but am able to read some Kanji, the best resources I found are:

http://www4.famille.ne.jp/~pcengine/list-soft/pce/frame_main.html
http://homepage2.nifty.com/gamedatabase/software/DB_NEC1_PCE_top.html

However, according to this FAQ:
http://www6.airnet.ne.jp/wataru/pcefaq/pcefaq.htm

The total number of licensed games released are 687 and unlicensed games are 22 making a total of 709 games when the first links said that there are 730 and 672 games in tota respectively. Does anyhere know Japanese adn can decipher the list for me? Maybe the first list included demos and not-for-sale games.

I know there are catelogue projects going on but is there an official count of all games released for the PC Engine and a complete list in Japanese?

I have, what I believe to be, a complete list at Turbo2k.net:

http://turbo2k.net/thegames.html

However, it hasn't been updated recently and doesn't include Meteor.  I've also never bothered to validate if this list is actually complete or not :)   But I think it is.

Games I noticed were omitted:

Dead of the Brain 1 & 2
Implode
Meteor Blaster (as mentioned)

There may be others. The most recent game on that list was relased in 1997. I don't know how many games were released for our system that year, but there was only one on that list. It's got most of 'em, though.

What I just learned and I find interesting is that there were actually a handful of games only released in the US that weren't released in Japan. I thought all TG-16 games started life as Japanese titles. I knew there was no "complete" R-Type HuCard in Japan, but that still was at least available on the two cards. I guess it makes sense that Darkwing Duck and Talespin wouldn't do much for the Japanese market, but I guess I never really thought about it. Hmm. Cool.

Nope, check again - Implode is on the list.  Maintaining a complete games list including homebrew could be very tricky, but the Dead of the Brain games do need to be added - good call.  The TV Sports games also originated in the US I believe.

The TV Sports games didn't originate in Japan, but they still made their way over there.

I would be cool to see a confirmed list of Turbo games that were never released in Japan. I mean, I could put one together if I wasn't too lazy, but it'd be cool to look at the list all together if someone else did it.

Off the top off my head(half asleep)-

Tale Spin
Darkwing Duck
Camp California
Yo Bro
Night Creatures
Turrican
Ballistix
Ghost Manor
Falcon
Gunboat
Order Of The Griffon

Addams Family
It Came From The Desert
Beyond Shadowgate
Bonk 3 CD
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Turrican is a very decent port (music excepted) and Beyond Shadowgate has something to it that reminds me of Lure of the Temptress. The rest is indeed very much forgettable.

I would appreciate it if someone would go through the trouble of recording themselves beating each of those US games so I could see the whole game [-o<

You would not want to watch an unedited video of Order of the Griffon from beginning to end :). Although I'm sure it would be far more entertaining than Falcon.

It Came From the Desert is fantastic  ! Seriously though, I think that's the scariest video game ever made.

I actually enjoyed It Came From the Desert. But coming from the Amiga world, I'm actually not supposed to say this and expect to get away with it :)
