Quote from: guest on 08/29/2012, 11:46 PMAkumajō Dracula X: Chi no Rondo showed up at my doorstep today.  There was much rejoicing.

Then there was much swearing at the game when I died over and over.

And over.

And I loved every moment of it.
Alright! Welcome to the Drac X club.

I guess, because the game works on a Turbo, it counts as "what Turbo game are you currently playing?"

I never really got into that game. I gotta give it another chance. In the past, it simply lacked the charisma/addictiveness to pull me back. Maybe things will be different now...

I liked the arcade version of Tiger Road but the Turbob version did not appeal to me as much. I think it was largely due to "hit detection".

Never played the arcade version, but I actually just recently popped in the TG version again for the first time in a few years, and I agree. The poor hit detection is infuriating.

Just started playing Ys III again for the first time. Well, I've played it a few times on the SNES, but now that I'm playing it on my TurboGrafx CD, I'm playing it NOW for the first time :)

I'm playing lots of rondo of blood on my s-video modded pce with 1988 ifu and cd attachment.  Honestly it couldn't possibly look or sound any better.

New Adventure Island. I've been playing the Wii VC version for like 6 months, on and off. Finally up to world 6. There should be enough dead Master Higgenses to build a bridge off the island.

playing one of my favorites- Dynasty Wars (Tenchi o Karau).  and actually finally uploaded my video review of it on Youtube, after making it back in Jan.. lol

I just recently beat it for the first time. The music in that game is pretty sweet too!

Estaban - glad it provided good background info for you!  you can try to play the arcade ROM first on Callus / Mame while you search for it :)

I'm a bit pooped.  one perfect minty complete copy showed up and I was gonna snag it, but got caught up in family conversations post dinner tonight and forgot... went for a very reasonable price too of 2300 yen.. normally this CIB (esp with reg card too!) goes for 5000 yen easy.  bah.

There's one track around world 5-3 that sounds almost like a chiptunes Beach Boys or Beatles Back in the USSR type song.

I finally beat Rondo of Blood today! Once I got Maria, most of it was pretty easy. I guess I have to beat it with Richter to get a real ending? I was a bit disappointed with Dracula (playing as Maria), I killed him on my first try... Either way, this was one of the best games of the whole 16-bit era.

Still chugging away at LoX, but this weekend I played a fair amount of Hi-Leg Fantasy. I was expecting boobs and not much else, but I was pleasantly surprised! Yes, there are boobs, but there's much more than that here. The art work is awesome and the music is great. My gripes so far are minor. The encounter rates seem high, but I kinda feel that way about most games like this. The fact that you can't access your status screen in town also irks me. While I'm at it, I wish menu in general was smarter: wrap around—don't just stop at the bottom or top item, also don't go back to the first menu item whenever something is selected. Anyway, the game play is pretty standard menu based RPG. I still don't have any idea how to use magic, but that didn't stop me in Cosmic Fantasy 2. I haven't gotten that far yet: I've got the ostrich, crossed the river, fought boss in cave, but I really like it so far!

EDIT: I think I sort of defeated the point I was trying to make. I thought Hi-Leg would be some low quality glitchy game that people only cared about for the porn, but it's actually pretty well made!

Have not played my TG in a while, since moving, but I will be playing Bonk's Adventure when it arrives (in the 3-in-1 CD version).

Got my Turbo Express last night and played Air Zonk and Ghost Manor ! :)

Was the first time i played Air Zonk seriously and wow. Love the game !

Put Ys Book 1 & 2 into the Duo Monday afternoon, watched the introduction, and then got dragged into a pool match that lasted the rest of the evening (interspersed with some 4-player NES Gauntlet II action).  The introduction looked great, I just hope that I can find some time to play it.

I just got Gates of Thunder in a trade with Beemer, so I've been playing a fair bit of that.  I also played some Dungeon Explorer yesterday.  I just got a TurboTap, so I'm looking forward to some 2-player goodness the next time my "Obedient" friend comes over.

Heck yes! Ghost Manor will infuriate you, but, if you stick with it, you'll find it oddly charming.

At least, that's what I thought, until I got stuck (mentally exhausted) at the 80-90% mark (my own estimation).

I have to re-visit Ghost Manor, because I really do want to give it another go. But it can be DAMN frustrating. And I loved Wizards & Warriors on the NES. I don't know, maybe I'm losing my edge :pcgs:.

I finally unsealed my copy of Loom that I've had for over a year. Made it through the first chapter. The gameplay is very similar to Beyond Shadowgate, but with a music element to it.

Altough I don't have it for the Duo, I have always wanted to play it, as LucasArts games are usually of high quality, but I found the music-based gameplay a bit confusing. Is it easy to play?

Played some SSS also and a little Cybercore. I wanted to try the super weapon and "arcade mode" cheats.

The music based gameplay does take a bit of time to get used to at first, but it's definitely very playable. You get this musical distaff which works like a magical wand where you can perform various commands by playing a series of notes. It really helps to have the game manual when you play the game so that you can reference the different spells that you will learn as you go along. It is also critical to write down the spell notes on paper as the game doesn't memorize them for you. I like the game so far. The animations are pretty good and I like the puzzle elements in the game.

Beat Steam Heart's a couple of nights ago, then played some Basted for the first time - seems okay so far, although my understanding Japanese is nonexistent. Then, I put Dracula X: Rondo of Blood in my Duo, and after playing just a little, I was like, "Where has this game been all of my life?"  The game is awesome!  I have just gotten all 3 of the aformentioned games in the last week or two, and they're all entirely new experiences for me.

rsa2000

Yes! Since I put in Rondo of Blood it hasn't been back out.  I suck at Castlevania games but I am determined to finish it.  Many rage quits but I am slowly progressing.

Are you using the cheat to get additional credits?

QuoteSECRETS OF THE PROS!
Ordinarily you will be allowed only three continues in the game after you lose all of your fighters. But: At the title screen set your turbo switches up, and then press and hold select and Button I.  Watch in the upper right corner as the number of credits increases one by one from 3 to 21 for the control pad or 28 for a TurboStick.  Now quickly press the Run button before the game goes into demo mode.

Playing some more Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, and it's still great, although a titch difficult.

Bonk's Adventure on the Gates of Thunder 3-in-1 CD. I find that I like (possibly even prefer) Bonk's Revenge. Maybe because it came out later and is more refined.

So you have to beat the levels twice to get a real ending?

Played some new games (to me) that I just got this week.  (All U.S. versions)

Bomberman - from the Gate of Thunder 3-in-1 disk
Gate of Thunder
Lords of Thunder
Dungeon Explorer II

All of the above games are really fun!  I didn't beat any of them, but I did give each one 10-30 minutes of play time.
I'm not sure which one I'm going to try to play all the way through first, but I do know that I'm going to try to get some friends together to play some multiplayer Dungeon Explorer II.
