So for this topic i want to read what people plan on buying in the future, and why they want to purchase said game in the first place. It can be a new game, it can be a retro game, doesn't really matter. Just talk about what made you interested in wanting to buy the game.  I'll start.

Kirby 20th anniversary collection: I want to get this game because in the past i never really paid to much attention to the Kirby games. I see this as a great way to play a bunch of the games, and also get a nice collectors piece.

Code of princess: Its a modern day beat um up which you dont see much of. It has some of the former developers of guardian heroes and plays in the same vein.

BlueBMW

Xcom: Enemy Unknown

I think it comes out in a month or so.  Made by Firaxis, which is basically some of the guys from the old Microprose who made the original Xcom: UFO Defense and Xcom: Terror from the Deep.  I loved those old games, and from what I understand Enemy Unknown is supposed to play very reminiscently of the original Xcom.  There arent many turn based strategy games these days, so I'm really excited for this one.  Everything is GO GO FAST TWITCH FIRST PERSON SHOOT SHOOOT SHOOOOOOOOT THE CRAPOUTTA SOME PEEPS AND GET ACHIEVEMENTS!
[Sun 23:29] <Tatsujin> we have hard off, book off, house off, sports off, baby off, clothes off, jerk off, piss off etc

I plan on buying Resident Evil 6 for the 360.  Been an avid fan since the very first.  I wish they would go back to the older style camera view tho.  I dont like the behind the shoulder angle.

I'll be buying both of those, though, I'll wait on Code of Princess until I finally give in & get a 3DS.  I missed out on alot of the Kirby stuff, but then started getting into it with the DS, so I'm doing some catchup.  I'll be getting Mysterious Song obviously, since I was involved with it.  Transformers Prime, probably the Wii version, though, I don't know if the game'll be any good yet.  I love Transformers, just got Fall of Cybetron, plus they're in the same universe, accept that Prime is when they're on earth, Fall of Cybertron is when they're about to leave for earth.

I'll probably get Lego Lord of the Rings.  I love the books/movies, & the Lego games are usually decent fun.  Same goes for Lego Batman 2.

Ah, deffinitly Ys 4/Celceta for Vita, though I'm gonna wait for the US version, especially seeing as how I'm waiting for a new Vita & a price drop.

I'm getting both XCOM and RE6 I hope like Bernie and Blue.

X-COM I am interested in the MP.

I thought RE 5 was fun, but i wish they would have called it something else like different series in the same universe.  I would like some single player survivor horror w/ the tension and ammo management and so forth.

Also:

Halo 4 -- I'm hoping this will bring Halo back fresh and interesting as I think COD is gonna be more of the same and it has been a while since I had a go to shooter.

Assasin's Creed III -- I never really got into the other ones, but I really like the revolutionary setting on this one.

Fable The Longest Journey -- I loved Fable 2, Fable 3 was good but not as good as 2 IMO,  I think this game will be a dissapointment, but I have it on my radar just in case.

Paper Mario 3DS whatever it is called -- played and loved all the other ones so i'm excited about this one

I'm sure there are one or two more:

Also for retro I would like to pick up Shining Force CD before the end of the year.  I liked the first one and the 3rd one a great deal, but somehow I have never played this one.  If i still have any cash after all that I'd get some more NES repros.
Gypsies did it.

Got no luv for the krackers only slugs for the krackers!

TR0N

Boarderlands 2
RE6
Transformers Fall of Cybertron:Which is out now !
Genesis Reproductions:There are plenty that i need still.

Any other game i can think of such as (the last of us) won't be out until next year. Also i'm still trying to get what i want for the genesis out of the way. Also i can't wait for the dark souls dlc which is suppose to hit in october.

I do hope the fact that nobody has mentioned Mysterious Song is because we have all bought it already!

I have to be honest on this one. I'm glad people are making real efforts to get new material released on the system, but I played this RPG before when it was shareware on pc, and it bored the shit out of me. As is now, I don't like the art style that was chosen for the Pce remake either, and that probably would have been the one saving grace for me if I had. You'd have to take my opinion on this with a grain of salt though. I am extremely picky about the rpgs I will play, let alone spend any real money on.

Many listed as headliner titles also bored the hell out of me, and stuff like Secret of Evermore I also hated where the art direction went. As much as I would like to support the home brew scene, I'd rather only buy games I know I will like if I can help it, and this one is not one of them. Sorry. What little I saw of Monolith does look pretty cool though, so you got my attention on that one.

As far as new games on modern systems, Company of Heroes 2 mainly is what I am looking forward to.

I will likely get a Wii U, but I honestly haven't been keeping up with upcoming PS3 and Xbox releases.  Except for Playstation Battle Royale All-Stars, which I will get due to the Vita cross-play.

Someone else mentioned Kirby, that looks good too.

Ohh, and I preorded that Street Fighter Collection a long time ago, it has to be coming out soon.

VestCunt

I recently realized that I have all but twenty or so of the U.S. Master System games, so I'm slowly buying those.

I also plan to get the rest of the NES RPG's. I have most of them, except a few common, cross-genre games like Simon's Quest and Faxanadu.

Also Dynamite Dux SMS, Blackthorne 32X, and Kung Fu NES.

...Mysterious Song...

but on top of that
Dead or Alive 5 - god, sexism rules.
Mega Man X2

and any N64 and Dreamcast games...

RegalSin

Kirby? You know what they never released the N64 air ride, or the GCN
game. Kirby has gotten stale, since "Crystal Shards" a game I just had to get rid of ( even if it has collector value ). Every Kirby since the television show, has been nothing but, cheap rehash of the Adventure games.

I would just forget about Nintendo, and anything else, all together and save your money. They got enough parents with wallets of dept, to reach into.

The last real Kirby game, was the SNES kirby 3, not including the All-stars, and Adventure that Nintendo made. Then of course you got block ball, which was the last some what GBC kirby game.

In fact, I was working on my own "sprite" game, but that has been taken away as well.

That is why we have the doorway back to the 20th century. Too bad my nation, is against that, along with living peacefully and happy. They want us to cut our, hair and buy plastic.

QuoteMysterious Song
I am expecting that to be arriving in my mail box pretty soon. When mine arrives, I expect to get another. Nothing is scared in the USA. anymore.

Torchlight II is the only upcoming game I'm really stoked about.  I haven't pre-ordered it, but I just read that it's going to be released Sept. 20.  Can't wait!

BigusSchmuck

Dragon Quest X even if it is online. Oh yeah and Silent Hunter Online, that looks sweeto.

Lilgrafx

Paper Mario: Sticker Star-I fucking Love Paper Mario!
Code of Princess- Looks like a spiritual successor to Guardian Hero, so it has to be sweet.

SignOfZeta

Now that I finally have Mysterious Song I can't honestly think of much...:)

Kirby, for sure. I bought a 3DSXL on impulse today, so I guess I have plans to buy "some 3DS games", not sure what yet.

Whatever the next non-OG Super Robot Wars game is (not yet announced).

Some old 16-bit shit.

I'm looking into getting Castlevania Chronicles. I was playing the X68000 version the other day and really liked it. Then Sonic and all stars racing (I liked the previous game) and Fifa 13. Not getting Madden this year.

Hoping on getting some more NEC stuff.  been going crazy before the bills set in.  Seeing as I only have a wii collecting dust as far as current gen stuff, Not really looking forward to anything to much.  I most likely will pick up the new wii at some point since i own a SNES, N64, GC, and Wii.  Was also mulling over picking up some sega stuff, met a guy who will give me a pretty good deal on stuff, however, I'll be spending the majority of my time convincing people to hire a soon to be masters grad. ughhhh speaking of which I've killed enough time here, back to the lookin, and applying.
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)
BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere. You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki Evolution (Vita)
Ys: Foliage Ocean in Celceta (Vita)
Why? Because I'm a Falcom freak and I'm buying a Vita mostly to play Falcom games.

Assassin's Creed III Liberation (Vita)
Assassin's Creed III (PS3)
Why? I love the AC series. Definitely my favorite current gen series. I love feeling invincible and being able to kill whatever NPC characters I want, and approach tasks in multiple ways. There are other similar games that accomplish this, but for some reason I feel no other series gets the formula quite right for me like AC does.

Need for Speed Most Wanted (PS3)
Why? I need a racing game at least once a year. NFS games are usually mediocre, and hit or miss, but when they're done right, I really enjoy them. Don't care for realistic sims like Gran Turismo much. Illegal street racing for me (probably for the same reasons I like Assassin's Creed).

God of War: Ascension (PS3)
Why? Because it's a new GoW game. What else is there to say? Too bad it's not scheduled for release until next spring.

(Edit: added why's)

Mario 3D Land is a lot of fun.  New Super Mario Bros. 2 is pretty decent, but 3D Land is where it is at.  Definitely the must own game on the system right now.

geise

Ys Celceta for the PS Vita.  Why?  Well...because it's Ys and a chapter 4 story actually by Falcom themselves.

Nando

NES and SMB 3 - cause I've never owned a NES and I've never played SMB3 :D

Damn right!  No further explanations are needed when it comes to Ys.  8)

I'm waiting/hoping for a Vita slim revision with video out and bluetooth so I can use it like a console, then jailbreak that bitch and play my Falcom goodies on a big screen (the new ones too of course).

I wish i could afford a Vita....i still dont even have a regular PSP! I want those Ys games!!!

ParanoiaDragon

You have 2 options.  PSP's are getting cheaper & cheaper, so you could just get one of those.  However, if you can wait even longer, you could just wait for the Vita to drop in price & download the PSP Ys games onto the Vita, but ofcoarse, you don't get the physical game with the case & manual if that's your thing.

MY BRAIN EXPLODED. I didn't know there were folks here who had never played SMB3. Personally, I've played it to death (back when it was released), so some of the magic is gone (I'm jaded). BUT I KNOW IT IS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. It really opened up an immense Mario cosmos, which I loved. :)

This is just really weird hearing someone talk about SMB3 like this...

I'm a big fan of fighting games, but I think it's about time I tried Street Fighter 2. I've heard good things. I've spent so much time playing SNK fighting games, newer Capcom Fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Namco's Tekken, etc. but I think it's about time I played SF2. I dunno, maybe it will be good. I heard that Ryu from Marvel vs. Capcom is in it.
