Inconsistent "show recent" search results

Hopefully, other folks can help me out here. Anyway, here's the scoop:
I use "Show unread posts" and "New replies" exclusively to see the recent activity on the forums and participate. I don't want to "browse" the forums if I don't have to.

Unfortunately, "show unread posts" and "new replies" give me inconsistent results and/or skip some threads. This happens to me occasionally, but enough to be a nuisance. My only recourse is to manually browse through all the threads to see if there are any new posts / replies. Often, I'm too busy to do this, so I just cross my fingers and hope that I'll eventually see all the new stuff.

Would it be possible to add a new search function that provides "All recent activity in the last ________" (day, week, month)? Or something like that?

I'm sure this is the last thing you want to worry about :(, sorry for being a nuisance :).

UPDATE: For example, I didn't see the Jaguar/3DO thread until GUTS made post #5 today. It didn't show up in the searches at all prior to this. And I didn't see "N64 Kid" thread until Helgeson made post #4 today.

Same thing happens for me here.  I attribute it to be an SMF 1.1 RC3 bug as it certainly doesn't happen on Turbo2k which is running 1.09

Good, thanks for confirming this! I thought I was the only dumbass who was experiencing this. :)
