Well i finally got a copy of this for my PS2.

Realy it seems capcom jump the shark on this i couldn't find it at Gamestop,Gamecrazy,Wal-Mart or even Circuit City

Insted i find it at BestBuy imagine that  #-o

Well so far the selection it has isn't too bad and i have np with the emulation either.

Still i'm kind of bum out it didn't have 19XX or even Saturdaynight Slammasters....

So who else has this and what ya think of collection and do you, feel they did the emulation right?

I think the emulation could be better.  I have the original for the Xbox and while good, some of the emulation seemed a bit "off" from what I recall.  Setup and GUI and options could have all been better as well.  I played part 2 on the PS2 and the Strider is the same emulation that was used on the PS1 version (it is actually missing a tune from the arcade).  The sound could be much better as all around it seems a bit harse.   laying with the Xbox and/or PS2 pads only contributes to the nightmare.  I need my Saturn pads!

Actually with the PS2 Collection 2 disc there is alot of probs on Strider, varius bugs and glitchs, and Super SF2 Turbo has  a weird flash/vsync tear problem. other games have problems here or there too,not too sure if its really worth buying with all the probs found so far

Yeah playing it with a PS2 pad isn't fun at all.

I was lucky enough to get one, Saturn PS2 pad months ago and it's great for any thing 2d related.

Of corse there is the... nuby SF pad i have for 2p use but man i think the pad is a little too thick.

Hmmm nice to hear what ppl think of the CCC2 so far.

Ture i could play these games in (mame) and i wouldn't have 'to worry about the sound being off or having some graphic glitch.

Still i pick it up since i like playing old games..... on the tv and i find it be a convenient collection.

Plus i don't have to bother digging out the roms either.

Well, I picked this up over the weekend.  So far only played Captain Commando.  A friend and I were playing and the game got stuck about the middle of stage 7 I think.  After beating all the enemies, the game never continued to the next section.  No choice but to reset.  Not impressed.

PCEngineHell

You know, the Midway stuff had problems too. I think Digital Eclipse did all of these classics collections. Go figure.

GUTS

Fuck, I thought they weren't using the PSX version of Strider, that's lame.  I was going to buy it just for Strider since it was supposed to be arcade perfect, but I'll just stick with my PSX version then.  I wish Capcom would handle these collections in house instead of using Digital Eclipse, those guys have a history of doing just a barely passable job and leaving in lots of bugs that annoy people.

CrackTiger

Well then, what's the deal with the Xbox version? Seems to me it'd be easier to emulate the arcade instead of a PSX port of the arcade.

I kinda want to go deeper on the conversation here since Digital Eclypse is behind these disc.
I owned Midway Arcade Treasures 2 collection for PS2 at first, when it first came out.
Problems I had with it right away that I noticed were:
Mortal Kombat 2 and 3,frame skipping seemed to be used,as shadows appear and disappear simular to what occurs to shadows on emulation when frame skipping is used. Also slight audio probs.
Pt fighter played way way too fast.
i did not go deeper into it then that, which I regret because id like to compare it more to the game cube one I have now.
Game Cube Midway treasures 2 problems:
Mortal Kombat 2-3,same problems as above. Exact same.
Primal Rage, has audio issues, esp at versus screen.
Narc, has audio issues later in the game.( would have loved to see if the PS2 did also on this game, but I didnt play to the end on the PS2 disc, sucks to be me)
Game Cube Midway Treasure 3.
SF Rush 2049. its not the arcade version. Its a port of the Dreamcast version.
SF Rush, the Rock. Its a port of the pc game.
Hydro Thunder. This is a tough one fo rme. its not the arcade version, thats for sure, could be a hack of the Dreamcast or Pc version, but not a exact hack of either,as i had the DC one,and it was a tad different, and I currently own the game for pc,and as I said, its not a exact version of it either.

Off Road Thunder. Feels like a hack of a pc port, but I do not think the game was released for pc,as Ive looked, couldnt find it. Does not mean Midway didnt do a port, then can it before release date. Either way,its not a arcade emulated version.
other games on this disc I have not bothered with, they are probably fine, except for Stunrunner. My friend says Stunrunner has problems,I didnt ask what probs it has because I have always hated that game since I first saw it at Chucky Cheese.

Midway Arcade Treasure Collection 2-3 for PC. Comes as a set.
I own this. The Collection 2 I cant even comment on,it wont run. I heard of other people having the same problem, just wont work after install. Supposedly includes MK1 in this version,I cant verify, can only take the booklets word for it. However, its spread across more then 1 disc, which tell sme it may not be using roms, may possibly be using reprogramed games, hacked versions. if it was using roms it could have easily fit onto 1 normal cd even with bonus material.
The Collection 3 disc, same as Game Cube,PC and DC and wanne be hacks and ports, and oddly Stunrunner when tried wouldnt even run. Wanted to test its emulation against mame, didnt get to because of this. As I said,I hate the game, but if it is emulated,I wanted to at least see how their emulation compared to that of the mame guys. Pc Digital Eclypse talent versus Mame talent.

As it stands,in every area the hard workers on Mame and Nebula beat the snot out of Digital Eclypse. because of this,I dont want to hear shit from Midway or Capcom bitching about roms and emulation. As far as Im concerned me and my friend have given enough money and then some to both companies for these shit hack collections by Digital Eclypse, that should more then earn the right to OWN the roms of these games to use on other said better emulators mettioned above.

Honestly too bad nothing as of yet can run SF Rush-Rush 2049 actualy arcade roms full speed perfect. These were possibly some of my fav arcade games.

This should honestly scare people.

All lies pretty much.
QuoteAbout Us
With more than 14 years development experience, Digital Eclipse is the undisputed leader in classic game emulation. A proprietary brand of Foundation 9 Entertainment, Digital Eclipse pioneered game emulation in 1993 with the company's first emulated games – Joust, Robotron, and Defender. Since then the company has shipped scores of classic packs featuring hundreds of games on every platform from PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube, to PSP, PlayStation, N64, Dreamcast, GBA, Genesis and Super Nintendo.

The company maintains a wealth of proprietary emulation technologies that enable us to quickly emulate a huge variety of classic processors, co-processors, and arcade boards. This enables us to develop pixel-perfect recreations of classic games on modern systems without access to the original source code. Our proprietary meta-emulation tool chain performs a number of pre-optimization tasks to make emulation possible on more modest platforms such as GBA and TV Games.

Our clients include nearly every major game manufacturer of the classic era, including: Midway/Williams, Namco, Capcom, Activision, Atari, Sega, and Microsoft. Classic game packs, typically sold at a value price-point, remain "evergreen" sellers. With experience spanning several generations of consoles, many of the platforms for which Digital Eclipse has originally developed games are now considered "classic" themselves.

The Digital Eclipse legacy continues to thrive under Foundation 9 Entertainment, with Digital Eclipse-branded games being developed at a variety of studios within the F9E family. Games carrying the Digital Eclipse name are primarily developed by Foundation 9 studios, Backbone Vancouver, Backbone Emeryville and Backbone Charlottetown.

The Genesis Collection gives me problems when switching between games in progressive scan. I've always thought that VF2 was well done for what it is.

The Phantasy Star Collection on GBA's PSII port is unplayable because of the zoomed in(original resolution?) maps. There should've been an option to zoom out or a map feature or something. The port only reinforced one of the original games' worst flaws. It also would've been cool to have the option of some kind of FM sound reproduction on PSI, but I was happier to get to play with the PSG sound than I was stuck with FM only on the Saturn collection. Overall the GBA PS Coll turned out way better than I expected, but PSIV still should've been included, just as PSI should've been included in the Genesis collection before most of the other games.

I'm satisfied with both Capcom Collections as-is. The one complaint I have is the lack of an option to remove the blurring filter and what appeared to be no progressive scan on CCC vol 1.

I don't expect perfect ports in these collections, but I agree that people shouldn't complain about 'free' emulation like Mame when the pros aren't doing the job themselves. I'll still take the CCC's, Genesis & Taito collections over rip off single game downloads on XBL & VC.
