@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Hey everyone so I just replaced the laser on my Duo-R because it was giving me lots of problems with the audio on my games .. It would randomly stop playing the audio on the games .. Before I replaced it I cleaned the cd lens and the complete laser assembly and re greased it and it worked fine for a few weeks .. But in the past 2 weeks it started giving me problems again with the audio .. So I just ordered a new Hop-M3 laser .. I installed it a few hours ago and it reads my original disc just fine now with no audio problems, but it will give me a set disk read error now for my 2 cdr's which never had any problems before .. I figured it might just be the laser or the pots on the mother board that might need some adjusting .. I just have no clue on where to begin with the adjustments .. I really need my beloved Duo-R to read cdr's again so that I can continue to play Kaze Kiri and finally complete Castlevania Rondo Of Blood 100 percent, the patched english text version ..
Finally playing these games I couldn't get my hands on back in 91' !!! Nec fan always !!!

Hm, maybe it's just not gonna work with that CD-R brand, as is common. Try burning some new CD-Rs of a different brand and see which one works.

As for adjusting the pots, if you wanna go that route even though it works for originals, akaviolence made a video for that, it was a recent post, so give it a search.

(From my readings around here, if you install a new laser, you'll always need to adjust the pots...)

Have you tried adjusting the potentiometer on the lens itself? It might be turned up too high. Also, sometimes changing the lens requires adjustment of the pots on the motherboard as well so definitely look into that.

There is a sticky-ed thread about adjusting the pots in this very section, all the info you need is there.
I think it says somewhere adjusting the pot on the laser assembly is a no no!

i had to do this on my duo adjusted the pots on the board but was still getting miss reads and audio issues, then adjusted the potentiometer on the lens and got it running sweet worth looking at.

Good to know! Was it a new or old laser?

a new laser i couldn't get it to read any cds properly after setting it up, it was only after i adjusted the big pot on the cd lens it worked.
