Looking for those rare gems. They don't even have to be perfect games either. Looking for the odd, truly JP experiences here.

Otaking

DoReMi Fantasy: Milon no DokiDoki Daibouken is an excellent game.

I haven't played it yet, but I've heard good things about...what is it?...Bishin Densetsu Zoku or something like that.  It's a combination of a beat-em-up and a mode-7 racer, with a cyberpunk kind of atmosphere.  Maybe someone else can shed some light as to whether or not it's actually a good game.

There's also Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie, if you're into mechs and shmups.

Hagane isn't a Japanese exclusive, but you'll find the SFC version for far cheaper than the SNES one and it's definitely a must-play.  Same goes for Contra Spirits & Super Castlevania IV.

Also, Front Mission: Gun Hazard
Quote from: Gogan on 08/01/2013, 09:54 AMPlay Turbografx.

Buh buh buh, I have almost all teh games evar.  I R TEH BESTEST COLLECTR!!

ElSeven

umihara kawase is a fun platform/puzzle game that is definitely unique.  HCG101 has a good article on it here: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/umihara/umihara.htm
currently playing:
PCE - Raiden
SNES - Chrono Trigger
DC - Fast Striker

PCE LP

MotherGunner

-MG

SI VIS PACEM, PARA BELLUM (If you want peace, Prepare for war)
SI VIS BELLUM, PARA MATRIMONIUM (If you want war, Prepare for marriage)

CrackTiger

Tengai Makyou Zero is as good as it gets on SFC.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Nando

making dat list!

That far east game is COLORFUL!

geise

Are you wanting Japanese only games, or are you playing US games on it as well?

I'll play US games eventually, found an inexpensive bridge. Just really looking for really JP games. I'm not planning on having a big SFC game collection. the Flash Cart is in my future.

That being said, I did just order TMNT in time and I'm considering buying Rockman & Forte.  Fuck a bunch of X megaman ;)

geise

Nice man.  Turtles in Time is my favorite SNES game next to Contra Spirits and Actraiser.  Also check out that Jaki Crush MotherGunner mentioned.  I had no idea it existed till he mentioned it.  How, I have no idea, but I checked it out and if you're into Alien Crush and Devil's Crush you'll love it!  It does have amazing music.

Nando

So funny, I have the EGM Actraiser screen shots burned into my memory, but I've never played the game.  Isn't it like a sim/action game?

Definitely will give the pinball game a look. I love pinball games on consoles.  I had been emulating Battle Pinball and was totally sold on it.

Contra FTW!

Opethian

Hagane is a terrible game

try Violinist of Hameln or Nosferatu

...I really don't know much about japanese SNES games. Will be bookmarking this thread to check it out later though, I wanted to try some exclusive JP games for a while.

Like DildoKobold, dildos are provided free of charge, no need to bring your own!
He also ran scripts to steal/clone this forum which blew up the error logs! I had to delete THOUSANDS of errors cause of this nutcase!

Most of my SFC carts are JPN releases of US games, but the few JPN-only I have are worth mentioning stand out (and should be cheap to acquire):

Pop'n Twinbee - Awesome Konami cute'em up.  If you like Detana!! Twinbee for the PCE you'll love this.

Parodius - Also on the PCE, but this one is just as much fun.

Spark World - A Bomberman clone, except everyone is a vehicle!

Seconded for Parodius...there's also the meh Super Bonk games. Also the "Go! Go! Ackman" series is pretty enjoyable and at last check won't drain the wallet too much.

Super Bonk 2 is WAY better than the first Super Bonk. Give the 2nd one a try.

Gokujo Parodius.

Also, pretty much all Murican games are cheaper in Japan, even the Donkey Kong Country games.

Mathius

Check this one out too, though it's getting up there in price thanks to our vault-owning friends.

Tats outwardly snickers at the SFC. But, deep deep inside his PC Engine loving soul lies an admirer of the console. :P

+1. Nothing like the first crap.

Also get Super Bomberman 5.

Battle Cross is a Bomberman-style racer in the vein of Super Off Road.
