10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

For Sale:

Entire US TurboGrafx 16 TurboChip (cartridge/HuCard) library.........except for Magical Chase...

93 Games. 1 yard worth of TG16 games. No duplicates.

Picture gallery (gallery has higher resolution pics than forum attachment pics): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xj8mvnwdfltt8yu/mmIU8c7klw

Spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0As7-6oT7oyHudHRMdExheUdKNjk0ZHdvVEY5MFV0Rnc&usp=sharing

All have card, manual, jewel case, & card sleeve. No cardboard boxes or plastic box trays. All tested good.

Almost all games are in good/great condition. Deviations from good condition are noted--if a condition is not specified, consider it to be good. "Good" = slight manual whitening at spine or a minor corner fold, light scratches on case, a little insertion wear on card, shallow spine sticker concavities over case holes, etc. I quickly flipped through every page of every manual & saw no writing, tearing, severe folding, water damage, etc. Condition of clear jewel case fronts not noted, as they're generic CD case fronts & they're a dime a dozen. I think I've been conservative in my condition assessments.

All games that didn't include jewel cases when released originally (the later TTi releases) now have cases from "donor" common games, where I removed the original spine sticker, cleaned up the case with alcohol, & applied a high-quality reproduction spine sticker made by pcengine-fx.com user Sparky. I also believe that there are 1 or 2 games that originally came with a jewel case but I've used a donor case & Sparky sticker.

I want to sell these as 1 big fat lot. Please don't ask me to split it up at this time. Shipping will be from Pasadena, CA, USA. The 93 games are currently in a 26"x17"x9" tub that weighs about 32 pounds, if you want to estimate shipping cost when they're packaged carefully--probably split into 2 more manageable packages. I will ship abroad, with insurance & tracking, but be aware that it will cost tons. (In the hopes that I'll find a local buyer, I'm not yet investing the effort of packing them up in shipping boxes.)

I've gone through & looked at low & high completed eBay listing prices, generally ignoring shipping prices (tricky when shipping is sometimes free on a listing or calculated based on buyer location...). There were a few instances where I couldn't find completed listings, so I looked at active listings & estimated. Summing up the low & high prices of all 93 games resulted in totals of $2,905 & $4,955. (Just think, you could buy 93 of the 94 US TurboChips for much less than buying Magical Chase alone!!!)

Please make a fair offer on the whole lot plus shipping. I know, I know, generally, buying a set of games individually vs. buying the same set in 1 bulk lot results in a higher total price paid, but I've never seen a lot like this, so my biased opinion as a seller is that this whole may be worth than the sum of its parts. We'll see what the Price Police say. :]

I am posting this to several locations.

Well, if you ever want to break up the lot, I'd be more than happy to make an offer on one or two of those.

esteban

Split the lot and I'll take Super Volleyball for $3.00

You're welcome.  :pcgs:

Wow man, an epic sale.  Let's hope they can stay together and find a loving home.  They deserve it!  If you do decide to part it out, which I think would gain you more money while helping lots of people here, then please sell me Hero Tonma!  Been seeking it for a long time.

I will message you tomorrow when I have some time. I'd be interested in the whole lot if we can agree to a good price!
Looking for Magical Chase and TG 16 loose game boxes.

I think about 3 years ago someone sold this same set.  Anyone remember that?

Curious what it went for, compared to what this will go for.

jasonbar

Thanks--wow, it would be interesting to see that data point, especially if the seller looked up eBay prices at the time & listed them too.

Of course, I'm 100% biased here, but prices do seem to have risen in the last several years. I can't believe I passed up a $250 Magical Chase at California Extreme a few years ago... :[

Thanks,
-Jason

*phew* glad to see you posted this here as well, i was just gonna link to it if not!
not sure if it'd work, but maybe some of you guys here could do a community pool to buy in & draft out the games?  i did just that on another forum for a massive dreamcast lot & everyone came out with nearly double what we put in for, it's awesome if you can make it work.

The whole is certainly worth less than the sum of the parts.
Not many people need them all at once and i hope nobody would pay the "average" ebay price for each game all at once.

But good luck to ya!

100% agree.  Not to mention that many collectors enjoy the act of acquisition itself--sometimes (usually?) more than even the playing.  The OP contains some very wishful thinking.

I'd be willing to throw a couple hundred bucks in towards what I'm missing if anyone want to pool together to buy this.

madboom0522

Problem with that is who would get what? Lastly most probably have the bulk of these. This might be a better suited e-bay sale only because of the unwillingness to break up the games..... Still the best of luck to him!

If that happens then you know a reseller of the worst sort will get their hands on it, though.

I'd be down with this. We could get everyone who wants in and at what price point and do a draft.

Ninja16608

I would be interested in a group buy...there are alot of Hueys i need and would be willing to put up some coin for what i need. I see this working and I see it going to hell all in the same breath. Who would they be sent to? who determines who gets what? yadda yadda yadda. I'm willing to take the risk to get a few I need tho.

PunkCryborg

I bought some games from Jason when he was selling some PCE stuff. He's a very professional seller who I would feel great dealing with such a big lot.

spenoza

The problem with a group buy is that everyone is subsidizing the cheap-o or bad games that many people already have or don't want (recall how many sports games hang out in the cheap bins in used game stores). Even group sales often lead to reselling madness.

Depending on the seller's flexibility in terms of price, this could be a great way for a total newbie to the platform to dive in head-first, however, as long as they have WAY too much spare change on hand to give to this.

Lucky for us the TG16 doesn't have too many bad titles.

So after two years of cross posting, bumping, and spamming your help-me-complete-my-collection thread, you're trying to sell if all, using individual prices to estimate a lot while dodging the 20% ebay fees and buyer protections.

Great. Four years here and you never left the sale forums. Next time, save everyone the hassle and go die under a rock.

I'm on NG too, as I am sure there are a few here that are also on there too. NG has some of the most hypocritical people I have ever come across. They don't want you to sell boots of carts, cd's etc.. but in the same thread they have other members (assuming long time ones) selling boots and repros of everything and anything. I hardly even look there anymore as I sold my Neo aes and the games with it. Funny story about that, I tried to sell it to someone who would really use it and not try to flip it, a gamer if you will, but when I posted it and gave my asking price all I got was shit on. In the same breath I had a few games that some people really wanted and made offers to me that if it didn't sell as a lot they would take one or two of the carts. My response was, why the hell would I sell it to you after you break my balls and shit in my thread? Not to be spiteful but just on principal they never got shit from me :-) I have no animosity or ill will toward anyone there but, how the hell are you supposed to keep new members who might have things you want/need/got to have around when all ya want to do is shit on them. Now I understand some people (resellers mostly) will come on to boards like this and NG.com just to pick up cheap titles and resell them at outrageous prices on feebay but not everyone is looking to turn a buck. Some like myself have stumbled across the forums and thought "hey like minded people" maybe they will enjoy and appreciate the games and system as I do. But as we all know until someone "proves" themselves they are a virtual nobody, and that's true to an extent, but if we shun everyone away who's left?

Sorry for posting this in the wrong place but after seeing the post above I thought I might chime in.

Signing off with a big fuck you to all the people who think reselling for profit is cool and the right thing to do!!!! They are killing the entertainment value of a simple game by gouging the hell out it.
