You betcha!  It's my preferred way of obeying the forums. I haven't tested it on many browsers, but it seems to work fine in Chrome and Firefox.   You can also save that html file to your hard drive and run it locally, and it'll still work. I just stuck it in my public Dropbox so I can easily edit it if I ever find a bug.

We're not Pax or E3 obviously, but that's on purpose. The show is very much a community/volunteer event. Admission is cheap, gigantic vendor space, everyone's friendly and having a blast all weekend. Everything you see in the pics - arcade machines, consoles, etc. are all brought by people who just love to be a part of the show. It's all out there and free to play for everyone.

Josh, that video was freakin hilarious. I think i'm gonna be going to this next year. I'm over PAX, its just a mess anymore.

How are the prices on the games out there? Any reasonable deals to be found? (excluding bargain bins obviously).

On a creepy/sad note - one of the guys from Video Game Rescue appears to have died of a heart attack either at MGC or immediately afterwards (time of death on 4/14 @ 2 A.M., which technically was late Sunday night at the show).

There's a bunch of fundraiser stuff going on to cover burial costs if you were ever a fan of the show:

If you take prices at face values, the mega rarez are going to cost the same as eBay pretty much - uncommons generally are a little cheaper than eBay and common games can usually be had very cheap if you look around.

The whole trick with the vendor space is to buy in bulk - you have to be able to haggle with the vendors (they expect it) and/or bundle up 5-6 games together and ask for cash off the whole bunch.

For example - I bought about 5-6 boxed Famicom games at the show that would have cost me $55, but I was able to get away with paying $35 because 2 were missing manuals and because I was buying in bulk. Those same games shipped from Japan on eBay would have cost like $60 or more.

If you're after stuff like a CIB Earthbound though, expect to pay and arm and a leg. A lot of times those "showcase" games are listed for gonzo prices and they don't sell (last year some guy had EB for, I think, $700).

Sidenote - the best deal at MGC - if you ever wanted an arcade cab, wait until like Sunday at 5pm and you'll get a STEAL on them - nobody wants to take those fuckers back home.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'm not looking for one of a kind, i just don't want to be charged 30 dollars for some common game. The buy in bulk is the way to go for sure. I've gotten reasonable deals at other retro shows that way as well.

SHIT!  Would you believe that I talked to Kevin just that Friday night about the HuCast?  I was listening to both of them tell me about how they got their show off the ground and they were giving us advice on what to do with ours.  That was in the TurboFest room.

No doubt...I didn't chat it up with those guys but they came over to MLGA for a while and were playing Deadstorm Pirates together. Guy was way to young to be having a heart attack. RIP.
