Also, calling you "TurboHood" can be a thing, yes?

Here is the one that was burnt up. I had to replace the power socket with a new one and rebuild the case all around it.  I also had to fix a really bad botched region mod.  The funny thing was that after I rewired the card slot it still did not work.  I then realized that I turned it into a PC Engine.... #-o

I hate when sellers sell high value games without putting pics of the actual item.  If you are going to be charging that much you should damn well take time to take proper pics instead of using stock photo's.

Oh wait my bad $234.70 for it. Still ridiculous.

MrFlutterPie

It just strikes me as lazy when people try selling things like Magical Chase, Little Sampson, Aero Fighters etc. and use stock photo's.  Is anybody really going to pay that much for a game that might come in crap condition?

I'm not saying that the Bonk 3 isn't a rip off, it is.  I'm just using that lazy seller as example of douchebag sellers who want maximum profit without any of the effort.

Alt-Nintega

lol I was about to make a thread asking why do TurboGrafx games cost so much. But after seeing more than $200 for 1 game??? that's just retarded. I'm not even gonna ask.

Bonk III for $50 is a rip off. Buy the original. It has 100 times the charm,

And when it comes to cart games, at the prices involved, there needs to be pics of the ROM board to make sure it's not counterfeit.

There are new HuCards you can buy and add your own rom chip to.

casimages .com/img.php?i=140131020139627363.jpg

But counterfeit HuCards were around back when games were still being published. Being able to sell a game for thousands of dollars at first and maybe $500 a pop once people catch on, would make it much more profitable to do full repros CIB today. Look at how collectards pass around "Second Print" bootlegs of Sapphire as a "rarer than the first run" collectible.

How can anyone justify spending hundreds of dollars on a "rare" game when it becomes easy to counterfeit it?

Surely the inflated collector prices that bring out opportunistic counterfeits will lead to a "market crash."

How do you tell the the difference?

Neo Geo has always been gonzo, those collectors probably like the challenge of figuring out if an AES cart is a MVS conversion.

Well, that's not a plastic HUcard.  It's just a circuit board painted white and artwork stuck on it.

Tiger as far as i can those are all PC engine games, not tg16 and this is the TG section if the forum.  To date there aren't any counterfeits if the high priced TG 16 games.

With today's printers it's harder to tell by only a pic. You usually have to open them up which may damage the label.

Bottom line I use MVS since it's about the games to me and I could care less about how nice a game looks sitting on my shelf. 8)

Sadly, with the ridiculous prices some titles command, the incentive to bootleg will only increase.

PLUS, why even bother making a working bootleg? I see no reason someone won't simply recycle an old Keith Courage and print/silkscreen  Magical Chase logo  on the HuCARD itself.

I saw US version of that game for 5k...I almost died...then I saw a Japanese version of that same game for also very high amount.....I went to see the gameplay on youtube. It looks good but not as good as many other shooters on turbo. So this game is purely a holy grail because of low numbers printed? I also saw that dude on pawn Stars with the NES game that was worth like some STUPID amount. Went to youtube to check gameplay and was disappointed of how crappy the game was... I just don't understand how come such crappy games cost so much. Low print numbers yes, but games still suks... hmm

synbiosfan

High prices due to low production numbers and the stupid Pokemon mentality at work. ](*,)

It sounds like you're at least doing your homework and searching.

I went the Everdrive route myself and grab good titles...mostly :P

I don't get why Japanese magical chase costs a lot of money. Weren't Japanese game mass produced? makes no sense for that price at all

For many popular us games that are playable as an import game have recently drastically increased as the "cheaper" alternative for us gamers.

You see it in the TG-16 SNES and NES games

To a lesser extent with sega stuff

Mathius

The Everdrive is the way to go. Honestly, booting MC US up on my Duo and seeing the Quest logo slide into view got me all giddy. I was just excited to play it on real hardware. Now do I like owning real copies of US Turbo games? Sure I do! But for the collectard-only releases an Everdrive works just fine.

Four copies of the Turbo version of Magical Chase have sold on eBay recently. It really is the rarest, most hard to find game around. Since it's almost never for sale at any price (see greedostick(?)'s early thread), I can see why people jump on the chance to bid practically anything for it, on the rare occasion its pops up for sale.
