lol are you serious
This is why I stopped buying turbo stuff.
Dude you don't have to buy anything from them or any seller if it's too high. Sorry to break it to you but there's plenty of copies that are (still overpriced) way less than what you paid for these games.

I know you don't want to feel cheated which is why you are asking....

And you got cheated on your last batch. Big time....

On this offer.  Sigh.  Neutopia is pretty common BUT crazy fun Zedla esk game. I want to say I have seen it priced on these bordes for around $14-25?  The sequel on the other hand around $150 non eBay I'd say....this based that my loose copy I got earlier this week was at the $80 dollar mark which even then was more then I wanted to pay........but it is a great companion game and fixes a few things from the first game..

Food for thought.....granted in the end it's up to you.

I hope this is a joke, if not, I hope you paid through Paypal...get your money back if you can.  Message the seller and say your leg fell off and you need the money back, or file a claim, or...dunno...something.

Bad; with patience, you can do much better.  There are several completed eBay auctions that ended at ~$45 and $100 (respectively), so he's asking for a 40% premium plus saving eBay's fees.

ifkz

Years worth, yes.  Don't forget that shipping will increase the overall costs a bit, but their prices have always been more than fair.  I got a few Turbo items in the last few months from them, so Loom and Adams Family may not still be in stock (from page 1 of this thread).  Be prepared for a bit of a wait in ordering, as I understand, a lot of other collectors found out and have been submitting a ton of orders.
THANKS TO ALL PCEFX members who have helped fix my hardware and add to my games library!  What a thrill!

neutopia6

Yeah, Loom certainly caught my eye, so many awesome games I could add to my collection, seems too good to be true, wish they had a stick count, and hope asshole resellers don't buy it all up and jack the price up, seems like a nesting ground for those vultures lol, that's why um sceptical, but thank you so much for showing me that site, quite a few games on there I was gonna cave in and buy from that guy I mentioned, but this site has most of them at like 20% the cost, now I just need to get a credit card before its too late lol.

neutopia6

Well, I emailed the guy right away, he's not taking any more orders, he's flustered and can't do some of the orders he's already got, shiiiiit lol.

ifkz

There is also another site that has a good reputation on PCEFX, though I have never had luck with e-mail ordering.  It is better to call them.  I have never ordered from them, but their prices are fair.  Not as good as CC&G, but fair.  Also, check out their price pdf for an idea of what you should be paying otherwise.

I'm sadly limited to ebay almost exclusively....I've seen all of 4 turbo items in the wild in the past 5 years and two of the four were Keith Courage.  :x

I'm just getting into Turbo collecting so I'm not super picky (held off due to the cost and lack of local availability for a while) and found an ok beginner/commons lot recently, almost all in case with instructions:

Battle Royale
China Warrior
Double Dungeons
King of Casino
Power Golf
Yo Bro
Keith Courage (chip only)

For 65$ shipped. I had Power Golf and Keith already so that was really only 5 games for 65$. May not be the best but I can live with 13$ per game as I just don't have many other options and am anxious to build my collection right now.

BTW I have ordered from the above mentioned Collector's Cards and Games before....very nice guy, slow as hell to get your stuff or even a response some times.

"Obey"  is the movie where Rowdy Roddy Piper and the other guy fight for 5 minutes in an alley.

It's a great idea for a movie, worked well for a while, but for me, fell apart.

It's not, "The Thing".

Good idea, though. They Live.

It definitely sucks spending so much cash, but at least I'm not an asshole reseller, I play because I love retro consoles, the games are much better than most crap being produced today and NEC consoles were grossly underrated back in the day, the games were beautiful, they were fun, I don't really regret it, where else will I find awesome NEC games I really want to enjoy without waiting who knows how long for an incredible deal??

Yes, I agree with estaban. You have to be patient.

You can get deals but you have be actively looking in more than one place, building relationships with collectors, and know what your budget is for each title. Stick to it!

Yeah, I've spent a lot on TG games, but I know that I've done my homework and it becomes pretty easy to determine if what you are seeing is worth it or not. Remember, the seller wants your money, so talk him down. He knows if he's asking $200 for a game valued at $100, he's not likely to get it....unless you buy it from him at $200. Then the message is clear. He can get $200. That may lead to prices going up if enough people shell out that same $200. That is bad for all of us.

Even at eBay prices $400 seems high for that lot of games.

bob

i need the dragon curse manual.  give you $5 for it.

neutopia6

Nah, I don't use eBay, I like finding the stuff, and private sellers, he just had five games I really really wanted to play, I didn't think $400 was too too much for Devils crush, Neutopia, Neutopia II, Dragons Curse and Monster Lair, I might have saved fifty bucks waiting a year and picking them up from people dumping there collection but to me I get to play awesome games now, and got it for cheaper than eBay lol.
Also I play all my stuff on original hardware, software, controllers and all that, feels more genuine to me.
I figured Neutopia II usually went for around $200 anyways, all I saw on eBay was a loose HuCard and it was $200 by itself for some reason lol.
I'm sure listening and reading all your guys knowledge will make me a pro in no time though.

bob

dude, i know you are trying...but you are the textbook example of what is wrong with the turbo scene.
paying absurd prices (regardless of where) for the GOTTA HAVE IT NOWWWWW!
paying private sellers that kind of money is actually worse.  they dont have to pay the ebay fees and they dont have the audience and reach that ebay has.  you are letting these pricks laugh at you all the way to the bank.  but hey, you got devils crush now.  whoop-dee-do.
when you finish neutopia II, let me know.

neutopia6

In a perfect world I would have started collecting 10-15 years ago and gotten most of these for like ten bucks, but its hard being somewhat new to a more rare and obscure system, especially nowadays with stupid fucking prices everywhere, it definitely sucks paying more than what feels fair, I honestly don't know where else to go for it though, I'm sure most of you guys judging the shit out of me already accumulated decent collections awhile back so put yourself in the mindset of this day and age and attempting to get into this awesome system, what would you do, pay close to eBay prices every now and then with private sellers, or would you hold off until you find a $40 game you really want until you find it for $20, and end up with a smaller library of games even over a long period if time?

I'd gladly pay $200 for a Magical Chase, Super Air Zonk, Dynastic Hero, but I get what you mean, so many fuckers stock up on all this shit to corner the market, Earthbound is a prime example, at least the majority of the NEC games feels like paying $40 or $50 is worth it, beats 99% of the shit coming out nowadays for $60 lol.
I do plan on learning Japanese too, seems like they get the majority of great games that are Japan exclusive.

What I'm saying is you could have gotten a better deal ON eBay! You have to look at completed auctions to gauge the price, not those stupid BINs. Neutopia 2 has been selling between $50-100. Neutopia 1 $40, Devils Crush $40-60, Dragons Curse $40-60.

Yeah I know how that can feel....you just don't see TG-16 stuff all that much in the wild and when you do it is hard to keep a poker face....

Luckily the few times I do stumble on it the seller doesn't have a clue what he has.  Oh but wave a NES or SNES game at them and they become experts.

neutopia6

Well yeah, news and SNES are popular enough that resellers and shady fucks can price them outrageously and they still sell apparently, but when I see actual physical TurboGrafx anything I get stupid happy and want it, but don't want to pay more than eBay, its just seeing the actual stuff in front of you fills me with mental retardation.

elderbroom

Stumbled across this great TG-16 lot on local online classified. Paid $100 CDN, and about $20 in gas to go pick it up.

The box is pretty rough, styrofoam is intact, but no manuals or inserts. Console is clean (has all hookups), turbo tap, extension, turbo booster plus and extra turbo pad.

Pile of (14) games, all CIC. Only Devil's Crush with some minor yellowing on the huCard.

Just wiped it all down, will test everything this evening.

Fills a number of holes in my collection.  Will have a title of two for a future Raffle on this site, and some to bring along to an upcoming Game Swap in hopes to find more Obey.

Not exactly in the wild .. as I don't get up early enough, or have enough energy for Yard/Garage Sales or Flea Markets (as most around here end up being retail shops running a booth on the weekend) .. but faired damn well lately just with online classified.

The Flea Markets near me are all retailers. They own retail stores, but put up a booth at Flea Markets on weekends.  So they snap up anything anyone else has that is good.  They charge their full blown retail price (only break paying cash, and saving taxes). So I don't even bother any more.   I think they could be some rare finds at Yard/Garage Sales but you have to get up early on the weekend for that.  My only two days for the family to sleep in. So we don't roll out of bed until 10ish, and the house until 11ish. So by that time would have missed anything good.  But I've hit three major Obey-bundles on a local online classified in the last 6 months.  A SGX / PC GT bundle with game, a Duo-R bundle with games and today this TG-16 bundle with games. Need to slow down as my retro gaming budget is dry now !
