I have not seen it in years, but I saw it when it was new, and I didn't think of it as a bad film, though not anything great. I thought it was goofy fun, for what it was, back in the early-mid 90s. It was one of those movies, where if  I caught it on TV, flipping through channels, I might leave it on, even if I wasn't paying attention to it 100%.

I notice there is a 60 minute documentary attached to this new release. John Leguizamo is mentioned, and it also mentions archive footage of Bob Hoskins. What I'm curious about, is if the documentary is going to be mostly positive, or if it will touch on some of what John Leguizamo mentioned about how one group wanted to make a film for older folks, the other more of a children's film. Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo drinking together on set while making the movie, since they knew it was going to turn out somewhat of a mess, anyway. etc.

It's a Region B Blu-ray release, for the UK market, but it just may turn up in the US, Canada eventually due to this release.

The price is not bad, minus VAT, for importing, if one has the ability to play Region B Blu, or if one opts for the DVD version of this new release, ability to play region 2 PAL.

I enjoyed it.  It's worth a few laughs if you enjoy terrible 80s/90s cheese.  :)

I also liked Double Dragon, Fist of the North Star (HBO Movie) and Judge Dredd!!

However, I disliked the Street Fighter movie with JCVD....
Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Double Dragon is on Netflix. I couldn't bring myself to watch it though.

Movies usually translate to shit games, and games translate to shit movies. With rare exceptions.... I'm surprised LJN didnt have a movie production company. Lol That way they could throw shit on both sides of the fence.

This film was a bitter disappointment to a 10 year old

I didn't think it was terrible when I was a kid. Was a little upset when they never made the sequel they totally set up. I'll pick it up on bluray when it's in the $5 bin in a few months.

Here i was hoping it was this smb movie coming to bluray instead

^ Only had time to watch a few minutes of that but it was great. That would be cool to see on bluray and with the proper use of you're in the subtitles.

Ayce

Horrid movie... I wouldn't pay money for that.
I've watched it within the past couple years just to make sure that it wasn't some sort of fanboy bias from back in the day... Nope, it really is that bad.

johnnymad

They just tried to change too much. Goombas looked really stupid. That's what I remembered most. How were Mario and Luigi supposed to jump on their heads when they're 7 feet tall.

That'd be awesome, I love it when super old cartoons/anime get the blu ray treatment.

I always found that if you ignored the fact that there was a Mario video game the movie was pretty good.

I loved it.

Yes! Although, I'm grateful that the series even got a DVD release.

It's bad. It looks like it was shot in an empty shopping mall for a lot of it. I was digging through LDs last night and saw that I had it in a box of them.
