Great to see that the Q&A worked out and that it has been uploaded :-)

Totally watched this. Didn't realize how much work went into using that cool Ghost N' Goblins (reggae?) track. G'jobbes!

Also, applause are in order for dealing with Billy and Jay, (of Game Chasers fame) as I am sure they both smell absolutely dreadful.

Great Q & A! It was basically like watching a live episode without gameplay footage.

I watched an episode of game sack about their take on the jaguar, they only reviewed some carts no cd games and dissed the system completely with out try the cd games or the after market games.
I do wish some these you tubers who review the jag try more of the other games besides the first fsix games. they didn't even review doom for the jag which is the best version

I agree, they should have reviewed a wider selection of games, including CD's.

But the conclusion would have been the same: the Jag still sucks my left one.  :pcgs:

They're limited to the games (and hardware) they have available; and they did review AvP, Tempest 2000, and Wolfenstein, so it's hardly like they based their opinion on the worst it has to offer.

But I bet they would've loved the Jag, if only they'd played Blue Lightning, Highlander, and Myst!

bet they would loved doom as well.
for the record the jaguar didn't kill Atari it was the reverse merger between Atari and JTS(disk drive company) that killed then they sold it to hasbro, hasbro seeing there was need for jag games, decided to make jag open market for those like songbird to produce games, then they sold Atari to infograms.

Exactly -64 bit really.

I like how people vehemently defend the jaguar like it was some mythical system full of untapped potential.
There is a reason why most people dismiss the system. And it isn't because of financial or political issues from within Atari.
IMG

MrFulci

I like the jaguar for what I have it for; Tempest 2K, and a few other games.

I've typed it here before, it's not a system for just anyone, you have to do your homework with it. I understand why others think it sucks, but for myself, I am happy I own one, and own the games that I do have, for it.

I still play 2600 games (KABOOM!), but I never really thought Jaguar had enough good games. I will gladly accept a Jaguar + Tempest 9000 from anyone willing to give it to me. I don't hate the Jaguar, it just has the least compelling library (yes, more 2600 games are compelling, for me).

Primal rage is great on the jaguar though, there are still some off market games for the jaguar out there, zero 5 protector ... curentlty there somebody working on basic compiler for the jag just like how batari basic is a compiler for he 2600.

If I had a choice of whether to keep my 2600, or the Jaguar, it would eb an easy choice. The 2600 would stay.

Medic wheat, the 2600 had an awesome missile command "clone" of sorts, I have to look what it was called again, since I forget,.... COMMANDO RAID!

Awesome stuff. You have to kill the parachuting guys, before they build a tunnel underground to blow up your missile launcher! In some ways, I prefer it to Missile Command.

Now that I looked at those 2600 games again, I saw Frogs and Flies, Atlantis, Cosmic Ark, Boxing....

I love both systems. the fact is that I have owned every atari game system with exception of 5200
2600 got xmas when launched, 7800 at launch for xmas,Lynx also launch at xmas. Jaguar  afew days after launch.
I sugguest for those who have 2600 get the harmony flash cart a 4k sd card fits all 2600 games plus when the new one is out you run the new games like zippy the porcupine and many homebrews.
the 7800 is getting a flash cart as well soon.
the lynx to my knowledge doesn't have one
the Jaguar does have a flash cart called the skunkboard where you upload new games being made on to jaguar.
I own a skunk and harmony myself and loved it.

Hey Dan! It's Matt from VGS/MGC. Welcome aboard!

I gotta disagree with you on Doom, brother. I think the best console version of the game resides on the PS1. Killer atmospheric (I use this word all the fucking time) tunes and better play control won me over.

Also, I loaned Game Sack my Jag and SuperGrafx for that episode. I only sent as many games for both systems as I could fit in a large wooden shipping crate to accommodate their needs and allow them to produce the best show they could under the circumstances. You gotta admit though that they have the best stop-motion animated deconstruction of a Jaguar (and SGX) on the internet. :)

I was so pumped for Trevor McFur back when my Jag was minty fresh off the assembly line. Those sexy game pics on the box and in magazines had me sliding out of my school desk. Then I got the game home from one of our trips into Indy and..."What? No music? These graphics are pretty cool but there is just something missing," I thought. I haven't played the game since the mid-90s. Maybe I should give it another go.

Easily fixable with theses sick riffs!
But yeah, kinda lame, some homebrewer should make this game some OMG tunes. Yeh.

PS Never owned or really plan on owning a JagguW'Eyer, but if I did, pretty sure this'd be possibly the only game I'd buy. Hah.

It hosts an excellent version of Raiden with only two marks against it. The World Record for largest side-bar ever used in any videogame. And no rapid fire. It's physically one of the most uncomfortable games to play on the system. Still worth it though IMO.

The World Record joke may not be too far off actually hehe.

BlueBMW

Steam Hearts on PC Engine has a pretty big sidebar too.

As far as Jaguar goes... I actually let mine go this year.  I just never played it :(  When I did it would be for games like Tempest 2000.  In truth I would rather play the trippy Tempest 3000 on Nuon though.  I even tried some of the CD games but they just didn't grab me.

That's a fine way to be, no reason to hold onto a system if you never play it. I let go of a gamecube, that I only had for the Gameboy player attachment, and I really only played the Gameboy color version of Shadowgate on it, hahaha. I did buy the Final Fantasy 1 and 2 cart, but instead I picked that up for the PS1, since I have the PS2 for game compilations. When I get the urge to spend days going through FF1 again, I have the CD around.

I let go of my odyssey, and Odyssey 2 systems. Same went for intellivision. Just never played them, and rather let them go to people who would enjoy them, or at least like them sitting around. I maybe should have held onto the Colecovision, but I don't miss it that much.

Less stuff taking up space.

I noticed you guys repeated questions, that was so nice to not have to rewatch a part 6 times intently. That's one big problem with 95% of all of those videos. Glad you corrected it.

Plus I'd rather hear a quick summary of the question rather than the question in full, which sometimes get lengthy (by the questioner).

Oh I heard you guys just fine and yes I did notice you repeated the questions. Anyway, wish you guys were at PRGE in Portland this year as Tom Kalinske is going to be on a panel. I'm definitely going to ask him why Sega partnered with Pioneer on the Laseractive and maybe throw a rotten tomato at Angry Video Game Nerd.

Watching the panel 2 things made me very happy.

1. You guys stated you wanted to do episode(s) dedicated to game music, which I'd love.

2. You guys want to (re)do the Turbografx console video. I've watched the original tons of times, but always felt it was a bit short in comparison to the other console videos (not criticizing, just saying).

Joe Redifer

Well it was the first console-focused episode we had done. Our goal is to make an episode that even Michelle Obama would like.
