Reported, and you guys should all report, too. Contact details and asking for cash in a listing is against ebay rules, and you betcha that they'll want to take that down much more quickly than e.g. bootlegs. Doing it that way screws ebay out of money, and they don't like losing money, especially when it's up for a cool $5M.
You guys see the recommended listings on that page? $50,000 for a VGA Graded Kid Icarus. I've admittedly gone a little nuts with the eBay hate lately but look at what these turds are doing to our precious pastime. It's driving me crazy.

It is best to just let it go at this point.  I understand and "used to" share the frustration. Now I browse over since I've "seen it all before"  Trust me you'll feel better.

Maybe I can find a way to be more at peace but I don't ever think I can let it go. I'll always stick up for this hobby and the fantastic people that I've met because of it.

Lol. Just took a look at the most expensive video games on ebay and it's hilarious. Somebody thought it a good idea to VGA grade a NES prototype.

Also, who doesn't need 1000 Super Famicom consoles?

uh, honestly?  $9.50 shipped is a pretty good price for a Super Famicom imo...

$9.50 is a good price for a SFC, but I can't imagine ordering 1000 of them at a time. Even as a business, who would want that much hassle?

I don't know if I want to laugh or cry, maybe both.

What a shame.
I remember putting this in my watch history because sometimes I like to see how high things get, but when you posted the final price I was like hawt dayum!!! Most likely what the others are saying is that it is shill bidding, but sometimes there is that one idiot who has more money than sense.  It is still unfortunate, for what it is happening to Rondo of Blood

I can't even imagine there would be 1000 people in the US who would want a SFC, even at that price after you factor in domestic shipping.  You also need to assume some percentage of them would be broken in some way as well, and unless there is a test cart to run a hardware analysis on the system the testing alone to ensure working status would take a loooong time.

Yet another pce works disc only, different seller.  There was a bootleg rondo x disc yesterday, but it has already been pulled.

Oh, and i dont mind sitting on the other purchase just to neg him.  My account is in good standing and it takes quite a few unpaid item strikes to get suspended.  I sell on a business account for a company, and theres tons of non paying bidders every month.  Ebay doesnt care to address the problem since it is a seller problem.

PCEngineHell

Yeah he admits its a "copied version" in the auction lol.

NecroPhile

What a twat.

And will ebay do anything about it?  FUCK NO!  I hope they eventually get raped by the goverats for knowingly allowing fakes to be sold.

It's inevitable you get synonyms in a language, but yeah, it is much like how "file pirating" was softened to "file sharing" early on in the Napster days and before. The music industry didn't see it that way and neither did it appreciate the particular arrogant trolling by one of the founders... ;)

Anyway, I use both terms, together usually, and it is legit in the context of say being used to describe fan reprinted manuals (like what sparky does), boxes, CD labels, etc. It's all technically unlicensed and falls under being labeled many things: fake, counterfeit, bootleg, reproduction, etc.

You know whats funny I was actually going to try and win this game and do a raffle because I thought the game was still cheap, however, when I saw that listing...I myself was like how did the pc engine ver reach about almost the price of the saturn ver.  Although the saturn version is more expensive, and harder to find, but I used to see the pc engine ver sell for dirt cheap back then.  I am guessing people are buying the pc engine ver because it is cheaper, but it is still very weird to see this happen to this version in particular

(I tried to go back and make sure this wasn't posted already, I hope I didn't mess up)
How convenient the image is not very hi-res to help us look for obvious telltale mark of fakery.

Can't someone just buy the damn thing, then file counterfeit claim since the listing never clearly stated it's not a genuine original but a repro. Upon winning the claim, either destroy the shit or use a fat sharpie marker and mark "repro" on the box and disc to make it worth less.

If a few seller who knowingly sells repro without stating it is a repro, loses the case, they will be forced to disclose repro in listing or stop selling it.

Surely there's a nice web page that makes it very easy to tell apart the real one from the fake.

NecroPhile

Seeing as it looks nothing like an original game, it's not hard to tell it's a fake.

Gosh freakin' dang it.  I'm never going to get a copy of Gate of Thunder (US) for a reasonable price am I?  I watched a copy earlier this evening balloon up from around $50 to over $110 in the last five seconds of the auction.  What the actual hell?!

Psycho Punch

Everything is inflated to extreme levels on ebay. I got a jump scare seeing Riot Zone at $80 on ebay when it was a $20 game not too long ago. All cheap games seem to have disappeared and only one of two overpriced buy it nows remain, and DK says that the price inflation is because of demand and not jerkass resellers sniping every good deal and hoarding everything.

GoT 4-in-1 is selling regularly on eBay for $40 - $60. There are methods to getting games at the reasonable selling prices, but I don't want to post them anymore as we have more flippers and collectards here than game players now.

Question....

Buying broken consoles and then fixing and modding them. While still trying to make a profit even if small.

Would that be considered flipping or trying to spread the joy of Obey? Speaking of NEC consoles only.

NecroPhile

That's what Turbokon and Keith are doing, though they offer mods in addition to repairing 'em.  I don't think anyone cares as long as you're not hoarding way more than you can fix and sell or trying to resell for stupid prices.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I'm trying to stay in the $50-60 range if I can help it.  That may mean I never get it, but that's okay.  I can't afford to go broke on buying all the games I want for the system.  I also make no promises as to being a good boy.

That's a scam that eBay signed onto. Much like the fake recycling fees collected on various containers where I live, the "Global Postal Service" or whatever is just a company that formed to steal money from online purchases. They might pickup packages from sellers or something, but the real scam is that they collect fake duty charges that they calculate on their own, under the premise of paying them to receiver's government in advance. But the charges are inaccurate and more than 95% of the international packages I receive don't get snagged for "customs" fees and even in the rare case they do, it's usually <5% of what the GPS charges every single time. The worst part of all is thatvit really is a 100% scam as they don't even send the receiver's government anything. So after paying $12 shipping + $45 "import fees" on an $80 game, you can still get stuck with the actual duty/customs charges. It's a terribke choice by too nany sellers to use this service because even if it were legit, it still makes your items 50% more expensive than competitors who just use USPS.

My guess is that eBay let them in because they get kickbacks or are the owner of the "service".

Apparently even sellers who realize that it is a scam and only limiting their potential customer base cannot cancel it once they are signed up.. (unless that has changed recently...)

GSP also has another problem: they often repack your stuff into smaller package to make shipping cost cheaper.  Quite often they will not use enough padding or such, and someone bought a CIB Jack Bros for virtual Boy, got the cart only because the idiot threw away the box and manual to make the package smaller!!!  A nice $200 loss right there.

I go out of the way to not use GSP and make sure all of my listing does not have GSP enabled.  It may make things easier for seller but it hurts the buyer a lot.

File with who?  eBay considered my job done when I shipped it.  eBay also considers box and paper not important, only the actual content. So yeah they will throw away $200 box and manual to save $2.00 on shipping.  The buyer has to file complaint and this one did, he got a full refund and I still kept my money.

eBay forum has quite a nice number of angry posts (many that gets deleted, convenient) about how things never arrive the same way it was packed and shipped.  One person got a very valuable doll very wet and smelling musty. Like eBay sent the package swimming rather than flying.

If everyone who got stuff through GSP were to file complaint it's missing pieces and seller make clear statement it was complete when shipped, the GSP usually has to eat the loss and eBay would eventually see they are losing too much money and kill this.  So start complaining, even if you did get it 100% complete.
