I had the opportunity today to download some scans of 1989-1990 EGM (plus one from GamePro) and highlight the parts related to news & speculation about the NEC PC Engine 2 as a true 16-bit system, before ==> SuperGrafx.

Reading those articles just reminds me that I've never understood why some people seem to be happy to call the Super NES a 16-bit system, but not realize that the PCE & SuperGrafx have just-as-much right to call themselves "true" 16-bit systems.

I think it was EGM who popularized that meme... likely on direction from Sega.

Makes you wonder if NEC had waited a year and the Super Grafx sold a bit better in Japan if they would have released it here in the U.S instead of the TG-16...
