Quote from: esteban on 05/05/2007, 02:44 PMI always pronounced it as "Veegz",

AND I WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.

:)
That's how I always pronounced it, too. Isn't that how they pronounced it in one of those Turbo promotional videos?
Probably!

What's funny is that I should have noted that it has a "hard g" sound...because I have OCD and don't want anyone, not even 2-3 people, pronouncing the name of this game incorrectly.

damn.

VEEGZ

UPDATE: I feel better now. I looked back and skimmed the thread. I did mention the "hard g", amongst other things. Thank Goodness.

Also, how can this thread be nearly 9 years old? I honestly don't feel like it was that long ago.

Since Japanese law demands each vowel to be their own syllable, it should be pronounced as Vee-eye-gyoo-ess and it should be said with a perfect Japanese accent otherwise fanboys will murder you.

This was disqualified 8-9 years ago. :)

See my old post for the reason.

I forget what I said, but was good.

CrackTiger

This is one of many game names that I couldn't be bothered to even look at directly bitd and just called it what it felt like, which is "vay-guess".

I'll also always call Gaiares "Gary's" and Myau "My-you".
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

That's silly. Where did the a in Gaiares go?

I think something like Xexyz or Scheherazade should cause more problems, though if people were at all familiar with 1001 Arabian Nights, they would know the latter is pretty straightforward. Xexyz though is thoroughly ambiguous.

Pretty sure it's am-bih-shun.

Quote from: guest on 02/09/2016, 02:50 PMVeigues should rhyme with segues.
That's what I've always thought...

Of course, I always thought Gaiares was pronounced "gares", which I know is ridiculous.

In fact, in Episode 11 of RetroBlast we were talking about "Gaiares" and lamenting the fact that we had such a difficult time trying to pronounce that game.

You know what's really weird is that I actually mentioned Veigues Tactical Gladiator on that episode as well (very briefly)

If you want to hear somebody butchering Gaiares on a podcast, click on the link below and skip to the 28 minute mark:
