10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

For those "youngsters" that don't know the "old-folks" slang ... the Happy House is slang for a lunatic asylum.

In the same way ... I had to explain to an old American friend that Jethro Tull's "Too Old to Rock & Roll" is about an old rocker that's on a semi-suicidal motorbike ride up the old A1 road that links London to the North of England, with the desire to go 100MPH one last time.

I guess that slang and cultural-references don't always cross-the-pond intact.

Reminded me Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper in "Easy Rider" and its abrupt ending. I used to see the flyers for it, but it was only very recently that I decided to give it a shot as I don't usually rent/care for older movies pre-80's. Anyway, sure enough it ends with one last motorbike ride... The "easy riders" didn't know it was gonna be their last ride of course, but yeah, it worked out that way and then the movie is just over... It was like, "Oh...? Uh, OK... The End."

Definitely don't know either of those ... perhaps after-my-time???

A good bit of GBH though ... definitely a part of the late-1970s/early-1980s Punk vs Mod scene.

Ignore the 1st 10 seconds of the video, but this song exemplifies the difference between to 2 styles, 1979 punk-dystopia in esteban's and my tracks, and 1979 50s-Mod-revival (see The Who's Quadrophenia) ...

Got to admit to the terrible embarrassment of never actually having watch Easy Rider, even though I now ride a motorbike (but not a damned Harley!).

Since I should put a "what I'm listening to" music video here, here's a reply to the earlier Lazerhawk track ...

Jahahajajaha... Many of those items were just snippets of lyrics that broadened my vocabulary...of course, before the Internet, it took some work to figure out some references.

"Barmy Army" is from some song by the Exploited

Winnets...I can't remember what song that was from, but I had no clue what a winnet was.

Hey, I occasionally listen to songs with positive energy and uplifting lyrics. :)

"Time for Action" is a great song to drive to when you are happy :)

I often listen to The Jam when I am happy driving.
Without even watching the link...I already think I know...

Is this the Giorgio Moroder soundtrack for Metropolis?

I've owned several different versions of this film, but obviously I am a sucker for Moroder.

Which reminds me: FOXES soundtrack...

Arguably the best song of the decade, from the greatest entertainer of our time.

Haw, Corey Feldman trying to be...uh, Justin Timberlake with a pinch of Michael Jackson ??

Last I saw him was that cheap Lost Boys sequel, most notable was his joke, "Build a man a fire, he's warm for a day. Light a man on fire, and he's warm for the rest of his life!" Of course it's an older quote by somebody else, but first time I heard it was in his movie and was funny as hell given the context of fighting vamps.

Corey Feldman is Michael Jackson and he has been for decades.  I don't mean he is emulating him, I mean that somehow through some science only Michael Jackson could afford...  he is him.

Now everyone should go watch Rock and Roll High School Forever and let their lives go downhill from there.  The best movie ever made.

Yep, that's the one, now that you mention it! That's not generally the sort of music I listen to and found myself drained when listening to the entire album in one sitting, but once we've moved to a more permanent location and I can unpack all my CDs, I'll definitely give it some more time. :)

I'm toward the end of the album right now. Almost good.

I'm not sure how I feel about the lead singer of one of my favorite bands playing second fiddle to Mark Hoppus. It's weird to hear him on that record.

That's such a wonderfully rockin tune. Pumps me right up every time.I was kinda let down by remix done for Oath. It didn't have the same punch as the original versions.

Yeah, I agree, Ryo's PCE/Turbo versions are still the best hands down! But the Oath mixes to some extent came close, the quality is up there, certainly much better than the cheap MIDI crap they did prior to that for Ys I&II Complete.

I see it as him doing them a favor and filling in for a nonexistent buttface. Anyway, the new record of his, Matt Skiba and The Sekrets, is pretty wow.
