Nope, not yet. Pretty inventive way to exercise though.

CrackTiger

I don't think I own a system within a few generations of what plays it.

Unless it's some kind of phone app.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

wildfruit

It's not on the uk App Store. I dislike anything with micro transactions. I'd rather pay up front. I only play one game on my phone and that's reserved for toilet time.

jtucci31

Fuck no.

Sick of hearing about it on every social media imaginable. Guess my first mistake is even checking them

esteban

My daughter has been loving it. We just drove from NJ to Maine (Boothbay/Pemaquid area) and she has been HAPPY.

:)

Pokemon is shite, though.

That's what I tell my daughter, anyway.

SHITE, I tell her.

Pokemon is a little bit after my time.  I have one of the GB carts only because it was in a Game Boy Color that I found in a e-waste bin at school.  I've never played any of them, but I would like to try one someday.

Edit: I just looked it up, and I was 21 when the first 2 Pokemon games came out here.  So I wouldn't even say "a little bit after my time", I would say "well after my time".  I was already playing Playstation by then.  I actually never got a Game Boy Color back then.  I had an original Game Boy in 1989, but the next one I bought was a GBA in I think the fall of 2001.

wildfruit

I loved Pokémon on GB. My parents bought one each for me and my brother at Christmas after it came out. Getting on the cycle was such fun! I'm not ashamed to say I was 16.

wiseau

I stopped caring about pokemon after Ruby came out, didn't even know it was a video game until a few months before gold came out. Just thought it was a card game with a cartoon to match it like yu-gi-oh.

ClodBusted

<- Windows Phone owner.

Enough said.

wildfruit

This has just reminded me. My brother has a set of either 4 or 6 Pokémon comics signed by the voice actors. Must get him to dig them out.

Nor should you be.  For me, I think Pokemon would have needed to come out when I was 11 or 12 for me to be in to it, only because I think it would have dovetailed in nicely with the NES era based on the games I was playing.  By the time I was 16 (93 and 94) I had a PC and was playing DOS games like Wolfenstein, Dune II, X-Wing, Syndicate, etc. and playing a little bit of Genesis.  So even then, Pokemon just wouldn't have been on my radar because I wasn't even into the Game Boy at that point.

I remember someone at work playing a Game Boy Color on their break, and that was the first time I remember ever seeing one.  He was playing the GBC release of Link's Awakening on it, and I remember thinking that it was really cool, but not seriously considering buying it because the screen wasn't lit.  So I dunno, maybe if I had bought a GBC and was keeping an eye on new releases, Pokemon would have caught my eye.  In the late 90's, I was Mr. Playstation all the way, and paid very little attention to any other consoles.

Edit: I guess to clarify, my point was that it wasn't that I didn't play Pokemon because I thought it was "baby stuff" or anything, but rather that it just wasn't on my radar based on my gaming preferences at the time.

esteban

Like jibjab, I was too old for Pokemon.

However, my daughter has loved it for the past few years (she started playing the old GB games...before graduating to the DS...yeah, she is truly my daughter :)

Anyway, we are in a very rural area now and she is bummed that there is only one uncommon out here.

WHATEVER.

I started playing last night. We actually walked up and down the dead end lane we live on so I could get to one of those post things, and caught a few on the way.

I won't "actively" play it. It will be more of a thing to bring up on my phone when I'm somewhere new and bored.

I played through Pokemon Yellow once. It was okay for a Gameboy RPG.

That's the extent of my Pokemoning.

I tend to see this more the. Anythjng else.

Also you have to be annoyingly on target when near a historical sight. I was INSIDE the Alamodome and it would say I was not close enough to use it. Not even when I. The parking lot as I left when the game was over did it work.

But with that said I am sure things will improve with time. And it is a fun distraction.

I have never played a Pokemon game.  My co-worker plays this religiously.  He's a young guy though.  Only 26   So he grew up on Pokemon.  He was so excited showing it to me.  It just seems kinda pointless to me.  If people like it great, but I have no interest in it what so ever.

BigusSchmuck

Hard to believe the first two Pokemon games came out 20 years ago. Christ, I'm getting old. Never really tickled my fancy though. Too old at that point to even care, was more interested in the Playstation and Saturn at that point.

TheClash603

I have been playing Pokemon in some capacity since it was released, I was never a fanatic but I have always enjoyed it.  The main reason I am playing is my girlfriend also enjoys the game and we went on a long walk today to play together, it was really nice.  Taking over a gym together was a relationship bonding experience.

We haven't spent any money yet and we both have so many items because we walked around a lot and got a lot of free stuff.  If you live in a city you will never need to spend a cent, if you live in the country you might not be able to find enough pokestops for free stuff.

Pokémon is the video game embodiment of a collectard. That's why it got old for me as quickly as it did.

Collectard includes a monetary component, whereas a $30 Pokemon game could provide hundreds of hours of enjoyment.  If there was a way to pay for individual pokemon or seal them in plastic and grade them, then it would be a more fair comparison.

No.

I've never played a Pokémon game. I did dl a pinball game for the gb but haven't tried it yet.

For whatever reason, I've never been a fan of RPGs on handhelds so I never played a proper pokemon game.  The closest I ever got was the 5 minutes I played "Hey You Pikachu" on N64 and a couple of hours of the Gamecube Pokemon game that is some sort of side story about Shadow Pokemon or something.  I found that one very bland and am informed that it's "the worst" pokemon but can neither confirm nor deny that.

Anyway, no reason to start playing pokemon now even if it was on Windows Phone which it probably isn't but I'm not going to bother checking because, well, I'm just not into pokemon.

I love them. I have a whole bunch loaded to my psp to emu. I prefer playing them hand held. Feel like I can concentrate more. Loads of great GB and GBA titles in the genre, not to mention psp & vita.

OldRover

The reason I make the comparison is simple... your mission is literally to collect them all. And what happens to most of them? They sit in a PC, much like a collectard's collection just sits on a shelf. In both cases, your trophies only serve to bolster your ego and give bragging rights... you don't even use the vast majority of them. When you play a Pokémon game, you become... a collectard.

I think that's a legit comparison. Those poor creatures, once roaming the grassy fields of Pokeland, now they're harvested by some greedy guy and destined to be sealed away in tiny ball-sized prisons. Even worse, for the majority of them there's next to no chance to ever see the light of the day again.

I'm enjoying it.  Wouldn't really consider it much of a game though.

ok, that is pretty funny.  and kudos to the guy for taking it well.
some people would come out with shot guns.

NecroPhile

Pokemon came out too late for me to care ('twas in college and playing PC games and emulated OBEY), and I don't play anything on my phone.  Pokemon Go looks kinda interesting, though, akin to geocaching (which I do a little) and more entertaining than a regular Pokemon game.

The question of wtf is the point lingered until I decided to download and install it.

I caught a few Pokemon, now what? They just appear at random and you catch them? That's everything? Is it really just about collecting things? No gameplaybasode from flicking balls at these creatures?

i cant believe how this thing has blown up.  seeing links all over the web with different stories.

some scumbags are using "Lures" at 2 am and then robbing people when they show up.
on the flip side, businesses using them for foot traffic could be interesting use of the app.
i just read a link of how some businesses are fighting over it.  some want the attraction where others want "paying customers only".

bob

Triple A baseball team, durham bulls charging $5 for charity on tuesday and you can go on the field to catch pokemon.
