I just dug mine out of storage and was reading up on it's hackability, anyone around these parts own one, and it worth tinkering with if you have indeed hacked the lil bastard?

I know I read that, lol..

What's your thought, I'm not very good at modding stuff, cant solder due to my hands being shot...but it is something worth having someone do for me?

Am i basically going to end up with a s-video enable C=64 with a flash drive in a joystick, cause if so I am so in.

Things to note: you will need a PS/2 keyboard, no USB or Bluetooth :)
Also, if you have an NTSC DTV1, the internal drive can't be rewritten.  So, do you have an original C-64 1541 disk drive, or an SD2IEC device?  I think those are practically needed as the selection of built-in games will begin to feel limiting.

I can get the drive, and ps2 keyboards are still easy enough to locate.
Feel like doing a mod? if so lemme know...no giant rush.

I'd like to actually repair/mod to full working order one of the C-64's I have here, I have 3 of them (one is my childhood system), 2 1541's, a tape drive and some other stuff.  I used to have a monitor too, which I played my TG-16 and Duo on pretty much exclusively, but it developed a problem where when anything white was on the screen, it just started flipping wildly - so I got rid of it a while back.  I remember the last time I tried to get my C64 going, the sound was completely dead so I think the SID chip might have went belly up.  One of the other two might have a working one still.  I was listening to Retro Game Asylum and one of those guys said they had their C64 outfitted with a SCART lead, that sounds cool for when I get an upscaler or god will it a PVM one day.  I've always wanted a MIDI interface, too.

You know what else I didn't know about the C64 until recently?  I have had Radar Rat Race since I was a kid.  It's a shameless Rally X clone, but I played it just the same.  I also have Jupiter Lander.  Apparently, these are two of Hal Labs earliest games!  Who knew?  I heard that on Retronauts Hal Labs episode and I was pretty surprised.

Not particularly.

But if you feel like including a working 1541/1571 drive, some 5 1/4" disks, and the DTV, and sending it to me -- I'm in Japan, remember -- sure.
