If you enjoy dungeon crawlers starring giant mechs, this could potentially be a treat for you.  8) If not, well... it's still cool that another RPG for good ol' TG16 got translated.

On that subject, I wonder if there are any TG16/PC Engine CD translation patches that weren't uploaded to ROMhacking.net at this point...

There's Startling Odyssey 2.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

NecroPhile

Ooo, nice.  You guys got any more PCE games in the works?

Thanks for translating it!  I'm not a fan of menu-based games in general (RPGs and the like) but at least it has great music!

There is one more PCE game that's in the works for now. ;) In fact, it's almost fully translated, we just need to work on some of the menus (and I have to do one more playthrough regardless). It may even drop before the end of the year. Then, we have a rather big project in the pipeline, but for a different console. There are certainly a few PCE games we'd like to work on in the future as well.  We'll see how the timetable turns out.

Different strokes for different folks, as they say. :D It just so happens that most of the games requiring translation to be enjoyed at all are either RPGs or adventure games (although there are a few Japan exclusive platformers for the console with some story too).

People who translate PCE are doing gods work, this is like getting more silent debuggers which is cool by me.

Thanks a billion.

Edit: has anyone mapped this out at all? if not it's time to bust out the graph paper

Excellent work, thanks!

Awesome, great work!

On a side note, what happened to the Monster Pro Wrestling translation? It was revealed on 4chan's /vr/ board several months ago but there's no info about it anywhere.

I didn't realize that you wirked on the Out Live translation. Thanks a lot for the effort and for picking off one of the more deserving HuCard games.

Please tell me that the next game is Benkei Gaiden. [-o<

Been playing Outlive, and it's a fun quirky game! I've defeated two "Duelists" so far, am at Stat Level 6 and reached Green City...gotta go find a monster.

For those who are stuck, you can fast travel between cities. Travel as aimlessly as you want as you get to keep all XP when you die.

Also, in order to progress, you need to talk to people over and over in the Saloon in order to trigger boss fights.

EDIT: Wish I realized this earlier. The Back Burner item allows you to warp back to town with the money you've farmed. Seems like you can use this once only, but if you "recharge" it then you're good to go.

Oh, thank you so much! I've always wanted to give this game a go, but have been intimidated by the language barrier. I'm going to give this a try in the express, as dungeon crawlers are the best to play while in bed, just hope it's legible.

PukeSter

Oh sweet jesus...I am still mapping out this third level "To White Hill City"

I promise I will post my directions once I finish this damn area. I cannot go into this town unless I find the momster, which I can't. I have ventured past much further. I will continue to do so, with a stockpile of health items.

Benkai Gaiden would be rad!  I was just listening to the soundtrack on my way to work a few weeks ago.

Sorry to be dashing your hopes to the ground, but nope - our project is different. With that being said, to my knowledge another team is working on BG (I'm just not sure whether it's the SFC or TG16 version that's in the works - either way this game will be translated eventually). For now, it's hard to tell what other PCE games we're going to tackle. There are a couple of RPGs/strategy games left, and also a few adventure games. We'll see how it goes.  :-k

deubeul

Will you keep concentrate on HuCards or is a CDrom translation imaginable?

Always appreciated. Thanks for the passion and the hard work.

The majority of good HuCard games are already translated I think, so we won't be working on many of those in the future (although there are 2-3 more we may decide to tackle later on).
There are a few CD games we'd like to work on, but definitely not anytime soon. I personally really enjoyed some Japan exclusives (especially Blood Gear and Macross), but they will probably have to wait.  :-#

NecroPhile

I'd like a translation of myself, though the Giger artwork is probably the best thing going for it.

Thanks for your answer that augurs some awesome and exiting things to come in the future!
And thanks for what you already delivered!

One more question if you don't mind:  will you focus on SciFi / Mechs games?

Believe it or not, we were considering it at one point, but a) apparently someone else is working on it behind the scenes on an on-and-off basis; b) our lead translator is much more of a mech/robot guy (you could probably consider this his main area of interest). We may go back to it if it turns out there's no progress of any kind, but it's not very likely right now. I'm not sure how it plays, considering that this was the first PCE RPG, but my guess is that it's a fairly standard affair apart from the artwork.

Yes, definitely - as I mentioned above, TheMajinZenki is mostly a SciFi/mecha expert.  8) He's working on Super Robot Wars A Portable (PSP) with another group, and that game has probably around 20000 lines of text. He generally doesn't mind other types of games, but he's not really that big on straight-up fantasy stuff (to tell the truth, none of us are, unless the game is either short or exceptionally good for translation purposes).

Just want to chime in and also say thanks for releasing another new translation.  Stuff like this continues to make this system better every day.  Now if only my TED would arrive from Ukraine!

I'm not sure if any of you guys have beat the game while translating, but...

Is there any sort of strategy for the final boss? The first phase is pretty easy and I just use a Net Bomb to disable his attacks. But the 2nd phase is way too strong. I had to use a save state to beat him. Do any specific weapons or "Options" work well against it?

Keith Courage

What's the difference between good intro and no intro? Does the no intro remove the intro from the game? If so, why would anyone want to do this?

TurboXray

I think they mean "header" and no header. Intros are something else, that long died with roms in the 90's (a splash screen of the group that ripped the rom, before the game starts). Header is a small block of data at the beginning of the rom, that tells the emulator how the rom is laid out in memory. PCE really has no business with these if the roms were dumped normally (with the redundant mirrored data in place), but.. this is what we have thanks to the early sceners that wanted headers for everything. The header isn't part of the game data itself.

Keith Courage

Ah okay cool, thanks for the info. Had to use the header-less(no intro)patch to work correctly with my everdrive.

Fantastic work on the translation guys.

shubibiman

Thanks for the translation cccmar. I'm so glad that more PCE games get translated !

Hello!

As some players considered this game kinda grindy, I did a little patching utility to alter enemies stats. You can make enemies give you more EXP, for example.
But this thing needs to be done with game balance in mind, so everything would have to be playtested, And most likely - multiple times.

Any volunteers? :-)
