Thanks for the sympathies guys, it's really appreciated. I typically don't whine on social media about my problems, but this thread gave me a great outlet for bitching about what happens so thanks.

We wallowed on the couch for most of that day, but then my fiance and I did a last minute run to the store to fight the crowds and re-supplied, and she ended up making a tasty meal. I then I ended up getting some work done around the house, and on catastrophy,  in addition to some much needed r&r on the couch, so we made the best of it.

An update on this story, today the police contacted my fiance and told her that they had found our golf clubs (after confirming their description) and they may have found more stuff.

Apparently a neighbor's grandson had been arrested for an unrelated crime, and when the police asked the grandma if there were any odd behaviors lately she said "he got two sets of golf clubs, and I don't know where from". She allowed the police to check out the clubs, and they matched the description of ours, so the police thinks they found the culprit.

After speaking with the neighbors about it over the weekend, apparently in the year there have been 4 burgleries, and one house that was for sale had been broken into and "partied in"!

I am wondering if all of these crimes were related to this guy, and there is a "detective working the case" who thinks so too!

They have the CSI:SVU on our case! Suburb Victims Unit!

Someone emptied out our packed vehicle that was full of all of the camping, golfing, and thanksgiving food supplies.

Moneterally the most that's been stolen from me, and also shitty because of it being on Thanksgiving and basically eliminated our ability to go visit family for the holiday.

The dissolution of safety in this neighborhood pisses me off as much as losing out on supplies and killing our Thanksgiving.

Yeah, same here, when I had a temp construction job some years back, I was leaving my tool boxes in my car and parking it in the garage. I didn't understand the problem of misalignment of the safety sensors or when too much tree leaves build up on the side of the door and wind up interfering with its proper closing... So, I suspect I walked away, clicked the remote, assumed it closed, but didn't given the safety sensors which then completely reverse the direction (the scenario of a baby crossing the door, so as it was almost about to close, it completely reverses)...

So anyway, with the garage door open, somebody went in, stole my 24 ft. ladder, took a bottle or whatever, broke the rear driver-side window to also make off with all my tool boxes... I lost tools I had collected since I was in my teens... Wound up spending about $600 at Menards and Home Depot to recover and continue to work on the temp job I had at the time... :/ I've since installed a transmitter device that's glued on the door, with the receiver in my home - red or green light for opened or closed door so I can be alerted... I don't actually park in there anymore, just rented out both spots to neighbors as I'd rather collect the cash as opposed to "protect" my 26 year-old car (which didn't do me any good that time) and have the convenience.

Now these things are pretty uncommon and rarely show up for sale, so it kind of stuck in my mind.  Then lo and behold, one of these also pops up on ebay a couple days later, with the exact same pictures, while the Yahoo Japan auction is still running!

Normally I don't care, but the ebay guy was "selling" it for about 4X the current auction amount and I guess I was just in bad mood so I sent them a message calling them out on it.

I like fireworks, but I'm a little under the weather, so I was feeling a little Grinchy last night.

Usually I would be out watching them, or setting them off myself.

However, I do believe you should be respectful of your neighbors when living in a subdivision. On new years I think you should have fireworks wrapped up by 1am. The last one went off here at exactly 2:37. We're not talking about bottle rockets and fountain showers. Mortar shells were firing consistently from 8-2:37.

When you are drunk and partying, it's all good and fun. I guess being sick and sober this year gave me a little insight into why some neighbors get aggravated and annoyed.

I have two jumpy dogs (rescue dogs from Mexico, they were street dogs) and they get so freaked out by fireworks. I can't imagine finding my pet like that, so sad.
