What a shitshow.

I was hoping a handful of Republicans would have the balls to "slow down" the Trump train in hopes of delaying the inevitable train wreck,  but that was naive on my part.

Liberal Sensationalism is strong with this one.

I would call it Common Sense and I am far, far to the left (I would pay more taxes for universal healthcare and increased social services).

Which means that we probably won't find common ground.

Except for PCE/TG-16!

See? We kinda love each other, actually :)

I am free this evening.

I would love to play Timeball with you.

Not joking.

Considering you address everyone by Comrade, I would call it Communist.

If you are wealthy enough that all of your family's needs are cared for, and you still have more money to hand over to a bureaucracy that will squander it, good for you!

Personally, I would rather my money go towards my family. If I had extra to give away, it would be to specific charities or United Way, not to government.

Can we merge threads? This one seems unnecessary.

Ha!

I see.

Social security, Medicare (you know, for the old folks), roads, libraries, schools, universities, mass transit, the military, the police....they are all are part of this "communism" you speak of.

I would much rather live in a country where we have MORE and BETTER social services.

You know, like a civilized country.

But don't worry! I won't have to dig deep into your pockets to find these social services.

We should simply divert a ***TINY*** piece of the ridiculous amount of money spent to slaughter innocent people around the globe.

Spend less on weapons of mass destruction and use that money (it is literally in the billions) into productive projects that will help communities here in the US.

Private contractors (mega corporations) make ridiculous profits by supplying weapons of mass destruction...

...why should our tax dollars fill the coffers of these Merchants of Death?

I have an idea (to save billions of dollars taxpayer dollars a year), and it will appeal to everyone with scruples:

(1) Private corporations will be held liable for all the  hospitals, roads, bridges, mass transit, water treatment systems, schools, universities, and other crucial infrastructure destroyed with the aid of their weapons.

(2) Companies that supply data, intel and logistical support for the Death Machine will also be held liable and pay (so, yes, Google, telecoms, etc.)

(3) Human life is clearly worthless, so we won't attempt to assign a cost to it. Consider this my "gift" to the War Effort.

(4) Politicians, out of their own pocket, will be fined an amount equal to the destruction. They can work off debt by becoming a driver for Uber. As you know, Uber drivers are compensated highly. If a politician does not possess a drivers license, they can work off debt by working at Walmart. This is a "private sector" solution, so I know many people will find it palatable.

(5) By default, US corporations and politicians (out of pocket) will assume all financial responsibility for destruction committed by our "allies" / "coalition members"  and any other groups we are supplying logistical / military support.

If you think I am "radical" (I am far from it), then look up the "radical communist" Dwight Eisenhower.

:)

Well didn't read the manifesto(you are getting into profprof territory here), but sapping the public dry to provide social services and a nanny state does sound like communism, and not a society I want to live in. Hasn't worked well in most places.

Taxes are necessary to a degree to provide infrastructure, common defense etc. But there has to be a cap at some point. More government has never solved any problem, and let's face it. They are a pretty shitty steward of the people's money.

Instead of taxing the US population more, how about we stop sending millions/billions to prop up foreign nations. Let's take that money that was given by americans, and take care of our poor and downtrodden here. Why the hell are we giving 1.5 billion a year to Egypt? How much good could that money do here, by americans for americans.

I'm with trump. I think it's time we start looking out for ourselves.

Question: is paying a premium to shitty and greedy for-profit insurance companies somehow better than paying taxes for universal healthcare? You say it hasn't worked in "most places" when it literally works in almost every other place.

Socialism works only if you reduce the standard of living for everyone. Communism doesn't have a good track record at all.

Why should I have to give up my 10 acres and mcmansion because you need social services?

Paying premiums is better, because I pay based on my risk, or my groups risk which is lower than the most desperate in the system. That's why my insurance premiums doubled under Obama care. Thanks Obama! Sap the working folks to carry the rest.

I just got back from a 3.5 week trip to Europe.  Whatever they're doing over there, it's working pretty fucking great.  No matter what Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are telling you.

Been living in a semi socialist country for the last 33 &3/4 years.
I suspect I have a different view of what socialism is to a lot of you.
Say if someone had a grave medical condition that made their premium so high and they could not work to pay it. Do I mind my tax monies contributing towards their wellbeing and hopefully some standard of living? No I do not.
Every basic human necessity should be run collectively & not for profit. There is plenty of money in the world for all. It is a human fallacy that a wealth generator is more important than anyone else.

Yes, because the only people who are uninsured are the unemployed and lazy.

Funny how the so many of the citizens who claim that the USA is a "Christian country" and that they are "followers of Jesus" disagree with this.

I don't know what the hell Jesus has to do with this... I'm an atheist, agnostic at best.

Regarding wildfruits comment.... I agree, I have no problem with tax money going to pay for those unable to pay for healthcare. Instead of taxing me more, how about put the tax money you already collect to better use. Stop sending billions overseas and stop bailing out rich banksters that screwed themselves

Also, stop with the open borders which allow hundreds of thousands of people to enter illegally and further burden the system.

Wasn't referring to you, specifically. But there are many people that I know personally who are self-proclaimed Christians but don't seem to have a bit of empathy and "WWJD" is just a fun slogan they can put on a bracelet.

I'm up in Canada and my family doesn't pay a goddamned thing for health care. I wouldn't say our wellbeing has been compromised in anyway, and I certainly don't have a problem paying taxes to make sure people are looked after, the roads are repaired and kids receive a decent education.

I worry for my American friends who are going to lose their health care, it's no way to live as a human being. It's not a left or right thing, it's about not being an asshole and looking after others. When I visit the USA, there's an aura of desperation that I don't feel in Canada, Europe or Oceania. I don't blame people, being one misfortunate accident away from bankruptcy or foreclosure.

I think Trump has truly duped people into believing that he'll actually look out for them. He is an egomaniacal billionaire, with an awful business record. He doesn't give a shit about your jobs, your border or your well-being. Being president is a hobby for him, something he can add to his list of achievements, and as if he wanted the job to begin with. He's filled the swamp with science denying billionaire pals who could give a fuck about you, Zero-Gamer.

The next couple of weeks are going to be a political blood bath. When our ex-conservative prime minister cast doubts on his ability, I worry. Harper was a neoliberal, through and through. Trump doesn't have a clue what he's doing and I hope there's enough resistance down there to keep that shit-show in check.

I'm way to busy laughing to be hate'n. The stuff I read about this moron; his disillusioned narcism is entertaining (the inaugural stuff/rants were great. The CIA speech too). He's basically rich white trash - lol. I really do have to the thank the morons that voted him into office (you guys seriously are fucking morons - to the core. You simply cannot defend a choice like that haha) - I'm going to enjoy watching all the fucked up shit this guy does, while everyone looks on in disbelief. And all the while the dolts who put him there cheer him on. It's like some 80's british sitcom come to life. Our first lady is his third wife, and posed for nudes. This shit is awesome! Entropy *is* entertaining.

OldRover

I have no problem with the fact that she posed nude... he just cannot really represent a strong family image while being married for the third time and having an idiot son who got busted funneling cash.

With as common as divorce is in our society, not sure why this even matters anymore.
