It was my sophomore year in high school when I first played King of Casino. It was fun, but I was a youngster. I wanted games where I could shoot up the screen, pull off roundhouse kicks, or run through stages collecting coins or rings. I allowed King of Casino to escape me. Ah, the impetuousness of youth.  ](*,)

It was a couple years ago, that I reunited with King of Casino and had a much deeper respect for the kind of game it is (thanks in part to these forums). Just this morning, 25 years after first popping it into my Turbo-Grafx 16 and two years after reacquiring it, I finished King of Casino to completion.

Reaching $10 million is the easy part; the Championship Round after hitting $10M is where the real challenge lies. Repeatedly stacking your chips on '0' and '00' at the roulette table won't work here since each casino game is played in sets of three (six for slots) against four CPU opponents at each casino. I am in no way exaggerating when I say the Championship Round in King of Casino is one of the hardest challenges I've faced on any game I ever played. And after what seemed like endless attempts, I won by the skin of my teeth in a play off with CPU #4 ($11,000 to $9,000).

I have so much newfound respect and admiration for King of Casino. The money wasn't real, but dammit, the competition was!  =D>
My past-life would've surely led to our demise, and I had left it not a moment too soon. Our escape, though dangerous, had gone well. The train ride, sunlight, and passing snow-covered pine trees came together in a flickering show of our bright, new future together. Her head rested on my shoulder as she soundly slept to the gentle rocking of the passenger car. We felt freedom. We felt peace.

Nice!  Some day, I'd like to beat just the regular game.

Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

I really appreciate it guys. :) This quaint, unassuming casino game was an absolute beast! I've tried to complete the Championship Round again a few times since and I think the croupiers and blackjack dealers hate me now. It's okay though; the redhead and blonde receptionists with the Southern accents in the Strawberry Casino lobby still love me.

-EDIT- After a dozen more failed attempts, I realized something and decided to try a VERY RISKY strategy that miraculously paid off. If any CPU opponent gets a large payout in poker, the whole thing crumbles. Luckily (this time), they never got poker payouts big enough to threaten the scheme (although one came excruciatingly close).  Here are some better looking pics of my second triumph over the other 4 CPU opponents.

-The five casinos where I won my five rounds. Some of my favorite fruit in there.  :D

-The screen where the game crowns the 'King of Casino'.

-One final affirmation from the game. It felt even MORE deserved this time.

Oh, just in case anyone wants to get the $10 million without doing any of the work, here's a code for $9.999M:

For some reason I was playing CDI Ceasars Palace tonight and when I hit the $125k jackpot on slots it took all my restraint to not cash out my 401k and bring it to the local casino.  AKA - I shouldn't play casino games.

That is awesome!
Now I need to go home and play it. I've always liked the game, but never got that deep into it.

Thanks.

Yeah, give it another go. Just seeing the money total increase was the motivation to carry me to $10M. Then the game threw four CPU opponents at me, all of whom treated me to that hugely depressing avatar you have. Seriously, that image scarred a piece of my mental well-being.

King of Casino is a very good and challenging game in its simplicity. Vegas Stakes on the SNES seems to have directly lifted a few things from King of Casino.

Nice!  I played this endlessly back in the day, but certainly never got that far!  All my friends used to ask me why i owned a "boring" casino game...  Hey, i thought it was fun and addictive!  :)  Congrats!

Thanks. It is fun and addictive.  8)

There was a quote from the movie 'Casino' about a high-roller who places a small bet and wins, buts sees his winnings as a loss because he didn't bet big.

That was me at the blackjack table; I had an up card of 6H so I bet a paltry $5 (I had $1.5M). My hole card was a QC and took a hit. I expected to bust, but I got 5D for 21 and won a whopping $10 (just over four gallons of gas).  ](*,)

If you decide to get rid of the ironing board, please hmu. Perhaps we can strike a deal off eBay?
You know what sucks about ironing boards? If you don't put them away after you've used them, you start placing shit on them. I ironed a shirt and some pants but didn't put the board up, now I have a roll of Scotch tape, an empty shipping box, some paystubs, and a can of Hot Shot sitting on it. I should probably put it up before it becomes a shelf.

I never could get into this game, but I absolutely love your passion for it. :)

Many, many years ago, a fellow pcefxer sold me on this game and I bought it....but, tragically, I was always destined to remain a serf. No royal blood in my veins.

Thanks for the pics. I love the one with the glass of wine!

I would love somebody to screen cap that image in an emulator.

It's... quite classy.

Thanks, I appreciate it.  :D

I can't prove it, but I'm fairly certain the periods of anxiety and utter heartbreak I experienced with King of Casino in the Championship Round shaved off about 7 months of my life. Nothing serves up a hearty "Fuck you," like being up $2.7M in the closing set of a crucial round, only have one of your competitors hit four of a kind on a $65K bet for a 400-1 payout. Just by typing this and mentally reliving it, I died a little more just now.

HAHAJAJAHAHAJAJA. :)

Brilliant.

And tragic.

We have shared a bittersweet moment.

Carry on, comrade. Carry on.
