Hi folks,

Wondered whether anyone has any thoughts as to the cause: My Core Grafx II (with RGB mod) shows usual white screen without games but with games inserted only boots to pink screen. Have tried to blow any dust out/re-inserted and cleaned hucards repeatedly - nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?

Does your core grafx have a region mod as well? Even if it doesn't, sometimes the inner larger ribbon cable can get bent around too much during mod installs thus breaking the connections for some of the ribbon cable wires.

However, if it is not a problem with the cable then most likely a bad chip on the motherboard unfortunately.

When was the last time it worked?

Also, these are JP HuCARDs, right?

Take the Power Cord out. Insert a HuCard and turn the Unit ON. Leave Power-Switch in ON-Position. Pull HuCard until it gets Contact with the green Power-On Switch. Turn off. Insert Power Cord. Turn on. What happens ?

Thanks for all your suggestions. I tried the on/off/pull Hu card out a little...unfortunately still a pink screen. Its probably 12 months since I last had it on. Yes it has the JP mod although Hu cards are all US/Europe. Will take a look on the inside to take a look at the cable as soon as I can.

Another thought: Could it be the cable? I don't have another one to test unfortunately.

Update: I had a look at the machines internal. Visually all looks good. I used some WD40 spray on the connectors and the machine works! However, I do have a very bad green tint on all picture output. No reds it seems. Cable do you think?

Are any of the pins in the expansion port bent or pushed in?

Ok, it was just a dirty slot. Please don't use WD-40 though. It may melt things. Use a electrical contact cleaner.

If you have no red or blue this is an issue with the mod, the cable, or the display since the machine only puts out composite from the factory.

Ha, good ole WD-40, although I buy the generic no-name brands these days! ;)
